Hi Everybody!
Hope your weekend will be good. I'm planning on a restful weekend, as I need to get some things done at home, so won't be able to run about outside quite as much as usual, but sometimes it's necessary.
I have a new tag for Michele's 'Here comes the sun' challenge at Tag Tuesday. I used one of my Matisse cut outs on a bright and sunny painted background, with a daisy placed like the sun:
Last week I walked along the shore of the Altstadt in Düsseldorf, which has sadly been turned into a party mile. I always go early, but there was still a lot going on:
These concrete blocks, brightly painted by schoolchildren, are placed strategically all through the Altstadt to prevent large trucks from speeding in, as there have been several incidents here of terrorists stealing trucks - after murdering the drivers - and driving at high speed into places where masses of people gather. There is still access for deliveries etc, but they now have to drive slowly and in slalom to get through:
I prefer the quiet streets of the real Altstadt:
And I am sharing a few photos of some of the exhibits in the Kunstpalast art museum in the glass department, which is my fave place to be:
Have a great weekend, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!
Good Morning Val. Hope you are feeling good. It's a bright and sunny day here, but hope it doesn't get too hot for you. The kids are out with P at the swimming pool, which gives me a quiet morning. Love your cheerful tag with the wonderful colours. Great photos, too, and I love the photos of the Altstadt and the glass museum. Must be a treasure trove for you, I know how you love old glass! Have a great weekend, we're off to my mum's this evening and will stay there till tomorrow. Hugs, Sarah
ReplyDeleteLove your header and amazing post of colour, art and loads of interest.x
ReplyDeleteIt amazes me what artists can do with glass. These are spectacular. And love the tag. It is supposed to rain later today so maybe I will get some art time. 👍. Love your Matisse inspired tag. Happy weekend and hope you get your chores done. Hugs Erika
ReplyDeleteI am always gobsmacked by the talent of those who make things like this. Hope you get your art time!
DeleteYour tag is beautiful. I love how the daisy represented the sun.
ReplyDeleteI think I would prefer the old part of the Altstadt to the party area, too. I always love seeing the old architecture.
Oh that glass!! It is simply unbelievable. I can see why you are drawn to it. I am, too. I would love to own some, but I'm too clumsy to have anything this beautiful and breakable in my home. I could look at their collection all day long.
Glass art is really fascinating
ReplyDeleteWow! That glass art is amazing! I love your tag art too Valerie.
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend,
Alison xx
Piękne te eksponaty naprawdę podziwiam . Pozdrawiam serdecznie:)
ReplyDeleteThanks Lucyna, they really are beautiful.
DeleteMy goodness. I didn't realize you were dealing with terrorist issues too. I guess they're everywhere.
ReplyDeleteLove the bird bowl(?)
Hugs
Oh yes, there have been many nasty attacks in Europe.
DeleteI take it the temperatures are not blistering so you are able to get out and about without melting. I love the architecture of the alt Altstadt. The Pinocchio shingle is charming and made me smile. The art glass is gorgeous. My favorite was the bluebird vase. Enjoy your weekend
ReplyDeleteAh, I would like a vase like that in my collection!
Deleteooh, i LOVE that matisse cut out! wonderful tag! xo
ReplyDeleteThose glass pieces are gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI'd enjoy both the party mile (for people-watching) and the quieter sections for photos :) I like variety. It's encouraging that they've found a way to alter the street to limit access while not closing it altogether.
So much beautiful glass and wonderful colours! I would be tempted to try and pick off the snails on the vase 😆😆. The old part of town is beautiful for a wander. Lovely tag. Like your new header too.
ReplyDeleteYou might get your fingers smacked if you tried that in the museum!😍
DeleteOMG Valerie! Those glass pictures are totally fabulous! Can you imagine who long it took to create such wonderful masterpieces? I'm truly in awe, and thrilled that you shared these!!!!! Hugs, RO
ReplyDeleteIt is indeed wonderful, and I gladly go again and again to see it.
Sabine
Danke Sabine!

Your tag is an absolute masterpiece, Valerie. I love Matisse! And very clever idea to use the daisy as a sun!

Hugs, my dear friend.
Your sunshine tag is so cheerful :D)
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed seeing the glass displays in the museum - they are unique and so colourful and tactile.
These towns are beautiful! And that glass -- stunning. I know you love glass so you had to love this spot. Lovely art today too!
ReplyDeleteYour tag is so special! I love it!
ReplyDeleteThank you for showing the beautiful area where you live! Too bad about the blocks that have to be put up! But, I love the way they have been painted!
Amazing glass pieces! WOW! I could spend hours there!!! Gorgeous! Big Hugs!
