Hi Everybody!
Happy Independence day to all friends and family living in the USA!
This week it has got cooler here in my part of the world, for which I am very thankful.
Tomorrow we are starting a new challenge at More Mixed Media. Our challenges are all anything mixed-media goes, this time with optionel pastel colours. I made an A3 mixed media piece, which I more or less copied from one of my own older pieces, as I just had nothing in my head while it was so hot. The background was gessoed, painted and textured with a background stamps. I used stencils and some structure paste coloured with acrylics for the patterned bits. The swan was added with a napkin scrap. I added a textile bow made from leftover scraps and some flowers before sewing it all to some blue card-stock:
I am also linking to Paint Party Friday, hosted by Eva and Kristin.
My July 4th outfit:
I spend some time most days at Hofgarten, and love to sit in the shade and watch the water-fowl:
Today I am showing some of the art outside at the Kunstpalast art museum, in my next post I will show some of the photos from the inside exhibits. I loved this huge, glass screen made from very rough glass:
My fave rhino:
A good place to sit if it's not too hot:
All the statues have had scarves added:
I love the deck-chairs, which are all printed with information about various art-epochs:
Have a great day, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!
Good morning Val! Hope your day has started off well. Love the new journal page, so pretty with the delicate colours. Great photos, too. I think the water birds will love you if you always take food for them! Love the shots from the Kunstpalast, too. Those deckchairs are wonderful, what a great idea. And your USA celebration page is wonderful, too. Have a nice day, take it easy! Hugs, Sarah
ReplyDeleteFabulous post, full of wonders, textures, photos and USA glory.xx
ReplyDeleteHappy 4th of July, have fun !:)
ReplyDeleteHappy Independence day :)
ReplyDeleteSince you are celebrating it, happy Independence day, dear Valerie. Love the outfit.
ReplyDeleteI want the youngsters to see this post. I think they will love the sculptures and art. I see there are three black swans. Is this the same place where the male was missing for awhile?
Your mixed media entry is gorgeous. I think that texture paste is wonderful and the stencils you used were amazing.
BTW, I loved the rhino. Once the youngsters are up and eating breakfast (seems children need a more structured timetable than I'm used to), we will return so they can see the art, too.
Glad you like my Outfit! I bought the necktie in Atlanta some years Back.
DeleteThanks for the July 4 wishes Valerie. I just love your outfit. Those capri pants are cool even without the flag scarf. (smile) And I love the art. I've missed visiting blogs and it is good to see art again. Although I did see swans and skeletons and art on my trip, among other things. Hope your weather has cooled off a bit and you are having a wonderful day! hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteSwans and skeletons is a strange combination! Looking forward to seeing thsm. I got the capri pants at the thrift shop for 3Euro.
DeleteI LOVE your art piece... the colors, the swan, the words. Just lovely! And it was very clever of you to follow up with the photos of swans, too. :)
ReplyDeleteNice 4th of July outfit! You're wearing as much red, white, and blue as I am... only I'm not barefooted. (I'm wearing slippers! HA!)
That "good place to sit" does look like it might not be too pleasant on an super hot day. Not a lick of shade! And some of those statue ladies look like they're suffering from the heat, don't they? The last one? I guess she must've just taken a loooooong hike.
Have an awesome day. Happy 4th of July!
Lots of terrific eye candy here -- your art and the others!
ReplyDeleteI love your 4th outfit. You are looking far more red-white-and-blue than I am (although I suppose denim capris (later shorts) and my navy Cleveland Indians t-shirt with red lettering counts!)
How nice of you to dress for July 4th!
ReplyDeleteLoved the piece and pics.
Hugs
AND....your header.
ReplyDeleteWe're back and the youngsters have weighed in on the art and sculptures. They all liked the art you created, but the middle child liked the sewing on the piece the best.
ReplyDeleteAs for the art, the oldest liked the skeleton, the nude sculpture on top of the building, and all the nudes around the area.
The middle child liked the glass screen, the rhino, the fountain, the deck chair, and the black swans like the one at the zoo in Wichita.
The youngest liked the twisted metal sculptures and said they reminded the child of Squiggles, and how he twists back and forth when being petted.
They also said to thank you for sharing these sculptures.
Thanks, i had fun reading about who liked what! In my next post I will be showing glass from the museum. Great to get feedback!
DeleteYou look so sweet in your 4th of July outfit! I love your mixed media art piece and how wonderful it is that there's so much outdoor art where you live, thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful mixed media piece Valerie. Great to see the swans and ducks. Nice to fins some shade on a hot day. Any reason for the sculptures to have scarves?
ReplyDeleteSorry I haven't stopped by so much lately. I've had a good catch up this morning to see you wonderful art pieces and of course all the lovely photos you have been sharing. the sculptures look fantastic..
ReplyDeleteYvonne xx
Oh Valerie you look ever lovely in your 4th of July outfit and your journal page is so fresh and inviting, love how the organza replicates the glimmer of the water with its shine. Beautiful poetic words to go with it all. I love it.
ReplyDeleteThose sculptures are fantastic, so much art to see around us if only my eyes gave me an extra hour every day to see more. They sure lift the soul.
Another busy weekend for me as we start clearing out to make space for some home improvements, it's hotting up here already. Glad to hear it's cooling down for you.
Have a fabulous weekend & i'll catch up with you real soon. Hugs Tracey xx
