I was not sure what to make - white is not really my
favourite, and in the end I cased one of my old
journal pages, just making it larger (A3) this time.
The BG was painted with gesso with a hint of blue here
and there. The image is from Gecko Galz, and was glazed
with Paper Artsy frosting glaze and then sprinkled with
some glitter. The snow balls were made with a puff pen
in white, the stars were in my stash,
as was the glittery reindeer and the sled. The white trees
are TH branch trees. I used frosting glaze and structure
paste to make the ice and snow. The whole BG
The ice and fog from the weekend have been replaced
with damp, grey weather. I took some shots of the
Christmas decorations in the shop here:

The house with the lights is where my hairdresser is:
I was pleased to see that the gulls are getting into the

Have a great day, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!
A really beautiful page and photos!

White is a hard color to work with, and you did a spectacular job. I really like how the blue pops. The shop windows are so tastefully decorated. I love the bookstore window the best with the green books piled to look like a Christmas tree. Clever. The seagull picture made me laugh especially the little guy with the antlers.
ReplyDeleteOh My! The colours of that image and the sparkly bits here do not give a way the fact that you don't do white often!! I love the trees! I am happy to have a peek in those shop windows and have a walk around your town! Of course even happier to see that the seagulls are feeling festive too! Hugs, Chrisx
ReplyDeleteLovely wintry mixed media page and the town is looking very Christmassy including the seagulls!
ReplyDeleteJust loved your winter mixed media piece.
ReplyDeleteAlways enjoyable to see Christmassy scenes, thanks for sharing some more lovely photographs.
All the best Jan
Wow, you have created a gorgeous page. the whites, the textures, sparkles and images look fantastic.
ReplyDeleteI loved seeing the shop windows, great photos and I had to have a smile at the birds in the Santa hats.

I really like this Valerie, white is such a difficult colour to use, but these images are so pretty, and the touch of blue and the sparkle gives it such a Wintery feel. It's good to see the seagulls getting into the Christmas mood too :-) xx
ReplyDeleteI fell in love with this beautiful white mixed media piece. It is beautiful and looks a bit like a winter wonderland.
ReplyDeleteI am starting to get in the Christmas spirit, especially after seeing that book tree in the shop. Very clever.
I told you I got hungry for pineapple upside down cake, so today, after I mailed a letter/package to one of the 800,000 people in your city, I stopped by the grocery store and bought a can of pineapple rings, even though I have a fresh pineapple sitting on my counter. I also broke down and bought a cake mix, since it's been far too long since I made one from scratch. Now I have everything I need to make one myself. I hope mine turns out half as good as yours looked.
I am sure your cake will be delightful. Cake mixes are mostly really good.
DeleteForgot to mention that I nearly fell over when I read that the focal image of your mixed media entry was a stamp! Stunning, even if it was recycled.
ReplyDeleteYour journal page is so beautiful and elegant. I love it! How cute the gulls are in their Christmas attire too...
ReplyDeleteNice journal page. It was smart to redo an old journal page for certain. I like the snowy feel. (Not that I usually like real snow :) ). And I do like seeing the Christmas decorations. But I did notice in one photo there are still flowers, maybe geraniums in one photos window box. Thy're tough plants I guess. And love your Santa seagulls too. They're fun! hugs-Erika
ReplyDeletehaha, love the hats on the seagulls, very cool indeed. Fabulous mixed media show piece and wonderful photos. Glad you received your card.xx[aNNie]🎄

Your project turned out really pretty, and I enjoyed the photos of your town, too! Thank you for sharing with us at the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, Val, I love this piece. It would make the best Christmas card ever.
ReplyDeleteAnd I enjoyed strolling through the streets, checking out the Christmas decos. So much fun. The little gulls were a hoot:)
Hugs,
So gorgeous and full of old world Christmas charm! And I loved seeing the Christmas shops.
ReplyDeletenice blog. I will follow what you make. Have a nice day. groeten uit Nederland
ReplyDeleteYou may not like working with white, but it sure looks like you had fun doing it. Your wintry images are chillingly lovely.
ReplyDeleteI've never worked in all whites before, but I once did an oil painting in nothing but Payne's gray and white. I think it'd be fun to do more paintings along that line, but with a single spot of scarlet somewhere in the painting... maybe a cardinal or a single flower, something like that. Just haven't found one of those elusive round tuits yet. :)
Super beautiful and so elegant, wonderful art, a very magical and peaceful feeling! Your pictures are awesome..fabulous sceneries..so magical!
ReplyDeleteWishing you a fantastic day
