Christmas / winter holidays at Simon Challenge Blog

Hi Everybody!

It's time for a new challenge at the
Simon Monday blog!
This is my second week as guest DT,
and I am happy to be joining the fabulous
team there!

The theme this week is Christmas / winter holidays.

One entry is chosen each week and can win a
fabulous voucher for the store.

For this week's challenge I made
a wreath for my door. The substrate was made with twigs from a willow tree, soaked in water to make them more pliable and then bound into a circle. ( I cut the twigs on one of my walks!)The leaves were recycled from old decorations, and sprayed with silver. I used hot glue to hold things together. I used ribbons and decorative wires to wind around it. The cherub was cast in a mold and the flowers were cut using a Tim Holtz Tattered Floral Die.

Hope to see YOU joining in the challenge!

I have some more cold and snowy Photos for you:

Have a great day, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!

  18. Wow, your wreath is stunning! I enjoyed reading how you made it, it looks so amazing and the little cherub your created is the perfect finishing touch 😁. Such lovely snowy photos too, we only had a very light dusting of snow here unlike other parts of the UK (some of my family got 10cm). Wishing you a happy new week! J 😊

  20. I was by quite early today, started to leave a comment, and my internet and electricity quit. Seems a transformer blew about six blocks from my house, so the entire neighborhood was without power most of the day.

Your wreath is simply wonderful. I remember soaking willow twigs one time, but my wreath didn't turn out as lovely as yours. It is simply out of this world. Are you the guest designer this week? If so, they chose well, because this is something to be very proud of.

Lovely snow photos, but I'm hoping you're staying in and keeping warm while you nurse your cold, cough, or runny nose you have. Get better soon, dear.

  21. Oh I LOVE your wreath!!!!! It's just beautiful ♥♥♥♥ Lovely snow photos too. We haven't had any snow yet but I'm really not complaining. Our weather is still being wacky with temps up and down and back up again. This week it's warmer but the winds are horrible. Maybe snow would be better :)

  23. Valerie, your wreath is simply stunning! The twigs from nature ,such a genius idea! And the re-cyled leaves sprayed gold- I love! Those flowers are just beautiful! They have a simplicity that just draws such attention! The white with the beautiful red center...is that a bead or a brad? Looks to have a bit of pearlized to it- I love that and how you added the other red sprig as well. And I must say, you tied the silver and gold together wonderfully! I just love this wreath! Can you tell? heehee
Congratulations on your continued guest design spot- this is big! I am so happy for you! xoxo
