Hi Everybody!
Today I have another piece for Aimeslee's flowers challenge at AJJ, and once again it's with tulips. I guess I just like them. I had problems taking the photos, the light was so bad today, sorry. The colours are darker and more intensive in real life. As usual, it's an A3 painting in acrylics. The quote is from Rumi -'Let the beauty of what you love be what you do':
And a few moon pictures for Rain's TADD :
I made these faces 2 years ago, I think it was one of the taster sessions. They were painted with diluted acrylic on newspaper:
Then I put them onto painted and collaged backgrounds and had fun:
Have a great day take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!
Lovely work for the challenges! Gorgeous tulips.
ReplyDeleteThanks Christine!

DeleteWhat a fun post Valerie. Those tulips you created are beautiful, as is your page. Tulips haven't done well in my area this year, so those photos were great. And I love your faces and how you used them. This is a fun post. I hope your week is going well. hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteThanks Erika! we have a lot of tulips growing here, I love seeding the fields. And when the tulips are done they plant sunflowers! Have a great day, hugs!

ReplyDeleteThanks Sarah. Enjoy your dinner! I'm going to the Pizzeria with Heike this evening, so won't need to cook either! Hugs!
DeleteΙ LOVE LOVE LOVE your faces, Valerie. And what a great idea to combine them with collage. You are very talented, my friend.
ReplyDeleteThanks Mia, those faces were such fun to make! Hugs!
DeleteYour Tulip painting is absolutely beautiful. The colours are perfect with each other. I really enjoyed seeing the bunches of tulips in the flower market too. Hope you're having a good week. Hugs Deb
ReplyDeleteThanks Deb! Tulips always looks so happy! My week is going quite well, although life is not easy these days. Hope you are well and enjoing your garden! Hugs!
DeleteI love what became of your faces in the end, What fun you must have had making them into such individual characters. I would love to try doing something similar in the future, it does look a fun exercise. Each one says something different to me, each one a character in its own right.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the lovely tulip painting at the beginning of this blog post. You have captured them so well and I do love the colours you chose.
I was overjoyed the other day to see a yellow and red tulip with its head swaying in the breeze in our garden. Certainly provided me with a lot of sunshine when I just needed it.
What pleasure flowers give.
Hugs, Neet xx
Thanks Neet. I had great fun with the faces and just played about with cut outs from magazines, and it's fun giving each face a different expression and character. I will definitely do this again. Glad you found a lovely tulip. Look after yourself and hope you are feeling better. Hugs, Valerie

Thanks Carol, I love them, too!
DeleteGreat use of the tulips, Valerie, guaranteed to bring happiness to all who see these gorgeous flowers of Spring. The annual tulip festival in Ottawa is about to get underway and no doubt tourists will arrive from near and far to bask in the joy of it all. As for those faces, a few of them are downright scary! I could imagine that's what a poltergeist might look like! We met a good friend of our this morning and enjoyed wonderful birding together. If you have a free moment google Scarlet Tanager. Two males and a female cavorting in front of us for several minutes was the highlight, but just being together roaming through the woods was reward enough. There are people for who the concrete boundaries of a city are their life, and for them I feel truly sorry. Miriam made focaccia bread and we had it for lunch with cheese and tomatoes and it was nothing short of heavenly. It's a lovely sunny day and I think I'll go out for another walk. Hugs and kisses - David
ReplyDeleteGlad you had such a great time out birding with your friend, I will Google that bird when I have finished writing this reply. Your meal sounds heavenly indeed, a meal in the fresh air with a good friend is something very special. I went out for dinner with Heike, and we enjoyed ourselves, too. And we had tartufo ice and cappuccino afterwards, the simple pleasures of life are the best . This evening I have been watching the pigeons creating, and there are some very jealous males out there. Have a great day, hugs! xxxxx
DeleteJust had a look. What a beautiful bird, no wonder you were so happy! xxxxx
DeleteOhhh the Tulips are so pretty as is your art of them. My neighbor has Tulips growing in her yard and this year someone came in the night and cut them all down. She was so sad and angry. Ohhh I love all of the faces. Each one has so much character. Thank you for linking to FFO. Have a lovely day.
ReplyDeleteOOh your Art journal page is absolutely gorgeous Valerie ! The background is so beautiful, as the tulips. I love tulips . Thanks so much for sharing those lovely photographs. I adore your faces, and how you have combinated them on the pages, that´s just Great !
ReplyDeleteI wish you a lovely Friday and Weekend,
Big hugs, Caty
Thanks so much, dear Cati! Have a great weekend, take care, hugs!
DeleteThose faces on printed paper are gorgeous and even better when put into a collage! I also like your tulip painting - of course it has to be tulips! They are such beautiful flowers. Did you ever go to the Netherlands to see the fields of tulips?
ReplyDeleteThanks Carola. Yes, I often went to see the fields of tulips in the Netherlands, but we have lots of fields of tulips here, too, some I even pass when I go to Lidl. I love to see them. And the fields of rapeseed are fabulous just now, too. Hugs, Valerie

DeleteTulips in all their glory ... your painting is awesome and they are what you love and what you did with them. Even your photos are magnificent. So sad that tulips have such a short duration in the spring. Your Moon shots are great ... Blood Moon? You surely have a great camera :) I think my favs are your faces on the news papers and what you did with them. All of them capture the daily expressions that fit perfectly into the collages of our daily lives. A great exercise in fantastic reality :) Love it all, Valerie ...

DeleteYour collages are fabulous, Valerie, although I do find the one with the webbed hands disturbing. It's probably because I am fascinated by selkies. Your tulips are gorgeous. I saw a huge display of tulips in Target yesterday: a wagon load of brilliant yellow tulip bouquets and vibrant white bouquets. I wanted to buy one of each, but I had already spent too much this week. Have a lovely week, my friend!
ReplyDeleteYes, those webbed hands are not nice, really scary! I'm glad I'm not the only one who spends too muc h! Hugs!
DeleteYour painted flowers and photos are gorgeous! Loving that quote too, we should all do more of that 😊. Those faces are fabulous and it looks like you had fun reusing them - perfect! Happy and creative wishes! Hugs, Jo x
