Weekend Post - 2nd on the 2nd and more

Hi Everybody!

It's weekend - enjoy!  Today I have another piece for Alisons challenge at AJJ. This is a hybrid piece, with a painted background, a badly printed out image of John and Yoko,  photos of my balcony blackbird and sunflowers, and some digital butterflies and flowers, all digitally assembled in my graphics programme. The image of John and Yoko was printed onto book paper and the ink in the printer was nearly used up, which made the stripes. Then I decided to call it distressed and leave it as it is!

For Elizabeth's 2nd on the 2nd I have some of my van Gogh knock-offs:

And some spring photos:

Have a great weekend, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!

  3. I love your John and Yoko page. John was so talented, and he and Yoko made a good team. And it's a super song too. And It's good to see your Van Gogh pieces again too. I remember them. And wow, you do have real spring. Your so lucky as here it slowly inches its way to better weather. have a wonderful weekend. hugs-Erika

  4. I feel bad now that I didn't create a new journal entry for Alison's theme along with my second look. I really LOVE your new entry. I think the streaks give the couple texture and almost an ethereal look. This is a great entry for Alison's theme at AJJ, but I will say it again, I was never a Beatles fan, which includes when the group disbanded and went their own merry ways. The art is fabulous, though.

I have always loved your Vincent drawings. I especially like the one where his ear is bandaged. They are all wonderful, though. Thanks for sharing these as your second look on the 2nd, dear.

You have brought spring to my monitor. I woke to snow today, so your spring photos are much appreciated.

    1. Thanks E. I still am a Beatles fan. At school they forbade us to listen to Beatles music because it was too revolutionary. That was back in the 60s. So we all went out and bought beatles records! Cold and sleety here today, too, spring is hiding!

  8. Good morning, Valerie: Had you not told us that the printer was low on ink, we would never have known. We would have assumed that it was for creative effect that you imposed streaky lines, having taken great pains to achieve the result. We would have been drawn right in. You could have claimed the lines were the imprint of a blazing comet, hurtling towards star-crossed lovers. Oh, the story you missed. I see also that Van Gogh is once again pleading, "Lend me an ear", but it looks as though he is getting no more response now than he ever did. If only he could have had the revenue from one of his paintings what a life he could have led. Your photographs of spring give us all hope. I noticed yesterday that Narcissus are poking through the soil. Soon there will be blooms and warm sunshine. Actually the primula at the front of the house already have yellow flowers. I suspect that weekend for you, as for us, is little different from any other day of the week, but enjoy it to the fullest. Hugs and kisses, David

    1. Hi David! Darn it, I missed an opportunity there, oh dear! Why didn't I think of that. Now I have new ink and everything is okay again! So sad that van gogh was never recognised in his life time. Glad to hear that the first flowers are showing themselves, you've had a long, hard winter. It's cold and sleety here, too, but probably nothing near the temps you get when the weather is bad! So I'm off for an afternoon nap. Have a good weekend, big hugs to you both!

  9. Both Van Gough and the Beatles gave the world a lot to think about and remember. I like the combination that you assembled. Both of these icons are among my favorites to think about and see or hear.
