Hi Everybody!
Here's wishing us all a good and peaceful weekend. I hope those of you living in the USA are feeling safe again after that terrible and unprecedented attack on the Capitol, which was a threat to the home of democracy and affects us all. I hope something like that will not happen again.
Today I am sharing another tag made for Pinky's numbers challenge at Tag Tuesday:
Today I am sharing some paintings from a local artist, Ferdinand Paethel, shown at an exhibition in our little library. Only one painting is not of Düsseldorf, I think you will notice which one:
Panorama from the Rhine, where many sights have been re-arranged to fit into one picture:
The view from Königs Allee towards Schadow Strasse:
The Altstadt (old town):
The Gehry Houses in the old harbour:
Saint Lambertus Church with the crooked spire and the lantern parade on St Martin's Day:
A street café:
Along the Düssel, the stream which gave Düsseldorf its name:
I think you can guess this one:
Another part of the stream:
And last but not least, our library:
Have a great weekend, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!
Goodness me, it's the weekend again!
ReplyDeleteWishing you a good one.
Lovely post.
I like your tag and the pictures, all lovely to see.
My good wishes.
All the best Jan
Thanks Jan, time has flown by again.
DeleteTerrific paintings ~ your new tag made me smile :) Your library looks so orderly, new, and clean ~ All things I appreciate in a place for books. Our library is closed but you can order online and pickup. I could imagine myself in the street café painting enjoying a chat and a hot cup of coffee ~ ahhh ~ Enjoy the weekend!
ReplyDeleteThanks, I'm longing for the street Cafés again!
DeleteI can't say I'm feel safe, Wednesday was such a tragic day. I'm still afraid of what more might be done. I love your Beatles tag Valerie, great job! The paintings are all beautiful. Thanks for sharing them with us. Have a fantastic weekend!
ReplyDeleteYes, it was an awful day which can't be forgotten. I hope things will quieten down. Stay safe!
DeleteI love these paintings.
ReplyDeleteBeetles or Beatles. Heh. That's great:)
I will feel safe again once we get through Jan 20th unscathed.
Thanks.

DeleteThat is an interesting juxtaposition of real beetles and those Beatles, Valerie. Only two remain of the latter kind whereas the real ones go on forever, and will be here long after humans are but a smudge on the record of life on earth. There is an interesting species of orange scorpion in the United States, but it is highly endangered, and reportedly has recently lost its sting, and will shortly be migrating to a new habitat. Your library looks so clean and well organized. It would be a pleasure to visit. Is that your municipal library or one at the clinic? Either way, I am impressed! I hope that the treatment you are receiving is hurtling you towards restored good health and that soon the needle will find its way to your arm, and that by spring you will be ready to walk the lanes and byways of Balconia-by-the-Rhine, to bring us new pictures and tales of joy, punctuated of course by coffee stops along the way. Hugs and kisses, David
ReplyDeleteThanks David. Yes the real ones are always able to survive. I hope that Orange scorpion soon gets crushed. The library is the little one in our town, there are bigger ones in duesseldorf but our is cosy. I am getting on well at the clinic but sometimes I am impatient. Today I baked an English fruit cake, the whole house smells delicious! Have a great weekend, take care, stay safe! Hugs to you both!
DeleteLove fun the tag Val. The beetles remind me of the hordes of red beetles that seem to show up every spring to cover everything out doors. Cute library. Great art exhibition. The capital mess is a tragedy. The fallout from it is still unfolding. I pray you are getting better. Keep safe.
ReplyDeleteLove, Hugs and Blessings,
Jim
We get those beetles everywhere here, too since they invaded us a few years back. What happened in Washington was awful. I am slowly getting better. Have a good and safe weekend!
DeleteGood play on words with the Fab Four! Thank you for sharing your local artist with us, it's a treat to see the work of others. Stay safe and well, Hugs, Deb
ReplyDeleteThanks Deb! We often have local exhibitions here, I love them.
DeleteGreat tag. Enjoy your weekend. Hugs, Teresa
ReplyDeleteThanks Teresa, have a great weekend!
DeleteYour beetle/beatle art is fabulous. Where I live in the N. Pacific coast we don't have many beetles. Maybe it is too wet here. LOL Thanks Valerie for the OK on you photos. Have a great day today.
ReplyDeleteToo wet and windy for beetles! They seem to love our weather!
DeleteYour tag made me smile as I do love puns. I enjoyed the exhibition, too. The library is my town is small, too, but a cozy place to visit with the few stacks of books and a couple of comfy chairs to sit and read. Take care.
ReplyDeleteThanks, I am partial to small and cosy libraries, too!
DeleteOh Valerie, I so enjoyed those pictures. it was like a trip down Memory Lane for me visiting one if my favourite cities. I was amazed by the Gehry building the first time I saw them and when I took my other half some time later it was one of the first places I took him. I also remember those little figures climbing all over a building on the opposite side of the river.
ReplyDeleteOh how I wish I could visit your city just once more - the sculptures ere amazing.
Hope you are getting well again
Hugs, Neet xx
Yes, the harbour buildings are spectacular, and the 'Flossies' climbing the walls on the other side. Hope you can visit again some time!
DeleteThe tag is great and I love the Beatles and beetles too. Those paintings are really amazing. I like Paethel's style. The Geary House and the St. Martin's Day parade are my favorites. He really caught the candle/lantern light in the parade. And nice little library. So many good books to read. Hope all is well. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteThanks, I love his style, too, and all places where books can be found! Enjoy your weekend!
DeleteThat library is a treasure! They offer a lot.
ReplyDeleteThanks, it is indeed a nice, little place.
DeleteGreat photos, and I love your tag Valerie!
ReplyDeleteAlison xx
Thanks Alison!
DeleteThank you, Valerie. I'm emotionally exhausted and wonder if I'll ever feel really safe in my country again.
ReplyDeleteI love both your Beatles piece and the art that you shared. Lovely, all.
I can Imagine how awful you must all feel.
DeleteLove your beautiful tags and those gorgeous paintings!!!
ReplyDeleteHugs ☕
Thanks Jan, stay Safe!
DeleteThat's a great tag. Not fond of beetles or Beatles, but I like that tag a LOT.
ReplyDeleteI recognized all those places in your town. I have seen them through your lens and now I am seeing them through nice paintings, too.
I liked the Beatles back in the day, but beetles definitely not! Have a great day<!
DeleteA great take on the numbers theme, i'm awful at spelling so either would do for me hee hee! What a fabulous artist, I especially love Saint Lambertus Church and The Stream, i'd love to be beside either one right now. Hope you are keeping well and making use of that library and garden space wrapped up all cosy. Hugs Tracey xx
ReplyDeleteThanks Tracey! The paintings are indeed lovely! Libraries are a great place to spend an afternoon! Stay safe!
DeleteSuch great pictures of art. I just love them all. Cheers!
ReplyDeleteThanks Glenda!
DeleteOh I love your tag, it's both funny and beautifully done! I really like those paintings, they really seem to bring the place to life, but the one with the crowded cafe really brought home what we are all missing right now. Take care and have a great week, Sue xx
ReplyDeleteThanks Sue! One day the Cafés will be open again!
