Hi Everybody!
Here's wishing us all a great weekend. It's raining just now, but better than this humid heat we've had the past days. However, we have to take it as it comes and be thankful that it isn't worse!
Today I have another piece for Halle's challenge at AJJ. Buttons and bows are often very necessary when sewing:
And for Michele's challenge at Tag Tuesday I have a tag. Her theme is celestial. I have used a painting of Stonehenge made some years ago as a birthday present for myself. My birthday is on the day of the moon solstice, the shortest day and longest night in the year. Many 'Druids' and others gather there to celebrate, so this was my celebration. The tag has been cut from a copy and placed on another copy as background. Hope you like it:

David, do you know the name of this lovely bird?
Some thinkies/funnies:
A huge butterfly / moth:
And some David Zinn's:

Have a great weekend, take care,
And thanks a lot for coming by!
The boiling water and zebra bird really stuck with me. All your photos are lovely and deserve a smile.

ReplyDeleteThanks Halle. Happy Sunday!
DeleteGood morning, Valerie: Let me first apologize for being so late this weekend, but yesterday I escorted and educated, led well and led astray, a group of avid birders to enjoy the delights to be found along the North Shore of Lake Ontario. By the time we returned home and had dinner it was after 8pm and we relaxed and watched the anticlimax of Trump losing part of his ear. Now, to your bird, another remarkable discovery, of course. It is clearly in the dipper family, and displays such a startling black-and-white pattern that it shows once again just how striking birds bedecked in these two most basic colours can be, stunningly different from others and uniquely beautiful. I have pondered a name for this species (hitherto unknown to science of course), and I have concluded that the time has arrived when Heike should be honoured with species named after her. So, Heike’s Dapper Dipper is what I have chosen. I am sure she will like it. As for the scientific name, given Heike’s proclivity to hoist large glasses of beer, it shall be known as Cincla bigsteinum. I expect that she will be having tee shirts made featuring her new emblem, and I will look forward to seeing her modelling one at the restaurant table. It is another remarkable discovery, Valerie, and your place in the universal pantheon of ornithological heroes is assured. Now Heike will join you! Hugs and kisses - David
ReplyDeleteThanks for the names! You always keep me amused, and I'm sure you kept your avid bird watchers amused and happy on your long trip yesterday. I am sure Heike will be very delighted with her new honour! I was evidently a long walk yesterday. Was Miriam with you, too, or did she stay home to make your dinner? Here the sun is shining and the news is full of Trump,,,,,Have a great Sunday, I am sure you will be well oc cupied. I'm having a lazy day....Hugs xxxxxxx
DeleteMiriam was with me, Valerie, toting her camera as usual, but she was a tad lethargic at times since the temperature climbed to just over thirty degrees. Too hot!
DeleteLovely that you still call your wife too hot after so many years!
DeleteBeautiful artwork Valerie! We drove past Stonehenge a few weeks ago, it's an incredible sight.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your week ahead.
Alison xx
Thanks Alison,It is indeed an incredible place. I used to hitch-hike there when I was still at school and had no money for the train or bus! Hugs!
DeleteA lovely idea for Halle's challenge at AJJ, gorgeous blue. The tag is fabulous - I love your painting and the way you used te tage shape tobegin with.
ReplyDeleteLots of lovely thinkies and funnies again, love the zebra bird and your storm photos (dramatic skies) plus the others.
The funnies are great, and I can think of someone, without looking at her face, where I think of shut up and worse!
Hugs, Neet xx,

ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic page! Love the tag too! The access to Stone Henge has changed so much over the years - love the tag ! More Zinn keeps me happy! Hugs, Chrisx
