Monday / Tuesday Post - Mixed Bag

Hi Everybody!

Once again the day has run away from me. I went out for a meal with Heike at the Pizzeria, and it was most enjoyable. We had cappuccino and Tartufo iceceam for desert, so it was very, very good! Then when I was home I had a Zoom Meeting with a friend in England, and that was great, too.

So now I need to do a quick post....First of allI have a piece for Halle's 'I've got a Notion' challenge at AJJ:

And I have now finished this face, and am still not happy with it. I think I showed it as a WIP a couple of weeks back. But I'm not going to do any more!

This next piece is for my  'summer Holidays' tag challenge at Tag Tuesday, which runs for another week:
Last week I said I would show you my very favourite place in the world, and of course, it's London. I was born near the Tower of London, and even though I like Germany, I still miss London very much. And the Queen! Nothing against Charles and Camilla, but the Queen is not replaceable:

This board is hanging in my kitchen:

A coffee for Elizabeth's T sTands for Tuesday tomorrow, although I don't know if I will manage to join in:

I love this wonky cup, too:

This is a small mixed media dragonfly:

And some funnies and thinkies:

Have a great start in the new week, take care,
And thanks a lot for coming by!

  2. I LOVE your tag. It is amazing. I agree the queen can't be replaced. So glad my grands named me Elizabeth. Just think what I would have suffered if they had to name me Camilla!

I am in awe of that journal page for AJJ. I love the background that reminds me of different fabrics. I also like how you placed hats on the dress dummies. It's a perfect entry for Halle's theme, dear Valerie.

I really like the face. I can't draw, so I am really in love with yours.

You gave us some really adorable thinkies and funnies. I was very impressed that the mouse thought it could rope in the cat in the box and Maya Angelou's beautiful thoughts.

I am delighted you MIGHT be joining us for T tomorrow. The "bee happy" will make Erika happy, too. And that is a cute wonky cup and saucer. Thanks for sharing these with us for T Tuesday.

    1. Thanks Elizabeth, I'm glad you weren't named Camilla, too! The queen was a part of my life since I was a small child, I will never forget the excitement and parties for the Coronation. And my Auntie bought a TV for the occasion, it was fantastic. Elizabeth stays my queen!

  4. Love the blue face. When I hear the words "The Queen" in respect of something she did this week, I still think Queen Elizabeth. I will never get used to Camilla. Have a lovely week, hugs, Deb

  6. It’s a bit of a puzzle that you remain an Anglophile, Valerie, yet you stay in Germany, and as best I recall in the six or seven years that we have known each other you have not visited London, yet it is so close. I am sure you have your reasons. The queen too has been a feature in my life, since she was Queen of Canada too, but that fact never engendered feelings other than we should dispense with the monarchy. The process to do it is so unbelievably complex, however, it is probably never going to happen. We shall be stuck forever with this anomaly that our head of state is of a different nationality and resides in another country. There are strong feelings of republicanism extant in Australia too, where the image of the monarch has now been replaced on all the currency, and they had a very close referendum to abolish the monarchy and it almost passed. The problem, as it was explained to me, was not a lack of desire for change, but no agreement could be found as to what to change it to. Australian friends tell me there is yet again a groundswell of opinion to rid themselves of these last vestiges of colonialism and inherited wealth and status and King Charles is unlikely to be king of Australia for much longer. There must surely be an irony in a staunchly British lady waving her Union Jack in Germany, a country with which Britain has fought two terrible wars! Hugs and kisses - David

    1. Don't worry, I don't wave my union Jack here! I hope I can travel to london soon, it's been difficult as I was very ill several times and was not allowed to travel. I also dxon't quite understand why the British monarchs keep the colonies, I would get rid of them all! But I still liked the Queen! I hope you will have a great week, see lots of birds and get delicious dinners from Miriam. Hugs, xxxxx

  7. I love your lady in blue, which is my favorite color. I liked London, too, spent 2 weeks there in November 1969. Bought my first winter coat and gloves there. I enjoyed riding the double decker bus. Oh, wonderful memories!

  12. I like your dragonflies. We were just looking up a very strange fact about the largest species of this insect: there’s some fairly good evidence that they are able to kill and eat HUMMINBIRDS!! Isn’t that amazing. It’s not done often, but there are a few photos that look convincing. Beautiful but maybe not nice.

  20. Great you had a good time out with Heike. Your art work is lovely Valerie, it seems strange to me that the Queen is gone too. Look after yourself.

  21. Your art is beautiful, especially the blue face. And today your ‘thinkies’ are particularly poignant. I had to look up who Maya Angelou was and spent a long time reading about this amazing woman.
    A belated happy T-Day,

Love those dress forms, how fantastic are they! They look great against that background and the hats - well - just perfect - fab colours.
Need I say anything about your face? You know what a fan i am of your faces and I love when you use flowers and leaves for the hair.
I have no feelings either way for the current monarchy but i must confess a liking for the Prince and Princess of Wales. Though why they are "of Wales" I don't know, if he is to be King one day why not "of England". Historical I know but still ...
Love the funnies - and the Zinnis
Hugs, Neet xx (hope you are well)

    1. Thanks Neet! I made a new, blue face, but it's even stranger than the other one! I think the Monarchy was always happy to grab other lands and empires in previous times, but yes, it would make more sense if they were prince and princess of England! I have more Zinnis in my next post! Take care, hugs, Valerie
