New Challenge at Art Journal Journey.

Hi Everybody!

First of all, thanks to Erika for her beautiful challenge last month, and then welcome to Vicki Parson, who is our new host for the month of February. Vicki has chosen the theme of 'keeping it light', and on the AJJ blog as well as on Vicki's blog  you will find lots of helpful information and suggestions.

I made an 8 x 8" piece using some bits and bobs  (Yes, David, once again!!) of older pieces, as I am trying to use up as many old things as possible:

Got a cough??

My posts seem to be getting shorter and shorter this week, I really have a lot on my plate just now.

Have a great day, take care,
And thanks a lot for coming by!

  2. I was surprised at how early you were tonight. I like that you chose both darkness and light. Nicely done, dear. Thanks for this great first entry using Vicki's theme at AJJ.

Loved the kitty, but I want some of that cough syrup (grin)!

    1. Was I early? Light and dark belong together! Hmmm, I'm wondering why it's called one night cough syrup....I wouldn't try it!

  3. Hi Val, good morning! I love the thought of that cough syrup, too, sounds like a Hippie's dream. It might kill you off quicker than the cough! But that really is a beautiful piece you made, I know light and darkness is one of your fave themes. I need to work today, my studio is all set up, so I had better get started! Have a nice day, hugs, Sarah

    1. Thanks Ashok, Buddha is always associated with light for me.

  5. I love how the sun lights up the face of the Buddha. Your journal page has shown the stark difference between light and dark and I like it. I wish I could read the writing underneath but the angle I have to sit at prevents it. However I will come back to it later.
Sorry you have a lot on your plate at the moment Valerie, take care and don't overdo things.
    Hugs, Neet xx

    1. It's not the cough that carries you off, it's the coffin they carry you off in!

Loving the new header Valerie. And that is a really cool piece today. I am loving the bits and bobs. Plus that is a great phrase, isn’t it? Happy February to you also. Hugs Erika

    1. Yes, I love it. I have a neighbour who always says 'bitses and bobses', even better!

  8. Here we are again with the bits and bobs. I think I am going to change to the name of your blog to The Bits and Bobs Attic. There must be a devious way for me to do this remotely so that you’ll wake up one morning and it will be fait accompli. It will be a place where anything is possible. Save your toe nail clippings folks, Valerie will put them to good use. There’s a label on the lettuces? Keep it for later. Nothing is beyond salvation! Recycling has truly found a home here. Creative recycling too. Art from ephemera ( another title for a blog). Who could have known that bits and bobs would take us on these merry excursions. I know that you have medical appointments coming up. Be sure to scour the waiting room for a bit or a bob. Don’t leave anything behind. If they use a tongue depressor, slide it into your pocket surreptitiously. You could probably think of a thousand uses for such a treasure. The possibilities are endless, Valerie - but you already know that far better than I! Hugs and kisses - David. PS - shall I send you the trimmings from my beard?

  9. Now you won't believe this, but my first blog, before I moved to Blogger, was called......Bits and Bobs! Toenails are good in garden earth, you can probably put your beard trimmings there, too. And as a kid I used to collect bobs and tanners, but mostly only got coppers. Now what were they? Have a great day, hugs, xxxxxxxx

    1. I just happen to know the answer: a bob was a shilling, a tanner was sixpence and a copper was a penny - or the local constable.

    2. Oh, dear, you really do know everything! Now I am totally gobsmacked! But I never collected local constables! That would have been bits and bobbies! Hugs and xxxxxxx

    3. And the bobbies had impressive truncheons.....

    4. I never saw their truncheons!

  10. Your David is stunning and what a great idea for this theme! I'm so much loving that quote by Martin Luther King Jr! It's very inspiring and I'm so happy to read you saying that you're trying to use up your old stash! It's a never ending pile, it seems, but hopefully you're able to create a nice dent in it! Thanks for sharing your brilliant page and welcoming me this month! :)

  11. I love the beautiful arrangement with the Budda. That cough syrup sounds very scary. Thank goodness for government regulations ( I think?)
