Hi Everybody!
I'm happy to say that the worst of the heat is over. It's rather stormy just now, but that's okay. It's just so terrible that in other countries there are so many catastrophes, with the earthquakes in Marocco and terrible floods in Libya. My heart goes out to all that are affected and I hope they get the help they need.
This week I painted a picture with sunflowers (my version!) and a blue background. I made the background rough and 'broken' to show the situation there:
These quick collages were part of the course #LouiseFletcher made. We had a list of things we had to include in our work. I made 4 collages, which took less than ten minutes each. It was interesting to work like this, but not really something I will make too often:
And a selection of faces for Nicole's FFO:
This is one of my fave collages:
I am also linking to Gillena's AFFF.
Have a great day, take care,
And thanks a lot for coming by!
I just love your sunflower painting along with everything else! Wishing you a great week ahead, and keep on crafting!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Carol! Hugs!
DeleteAll your pieces are great, but I especially love the first one and the sentiments behind it. YOU take special care. Hugs, Sandra sandracox.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteThanks Sandra, have a great day!
DeleteI enjoyed your post-awesome art hugs from the lake
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, dear Kathy, enjoy your day.
DeleteWhat a fabulous sunflower abstract, Valerie! And you are a trooper doing that taster exercise. I checked her lessons out and wasn't enthused to do any of the four. I hope you enjoy every moment of the weather being cooler. We are getting a little respite from the worst of it, still hot in daytime but the nights are beginning to not be as bad. We still need rain so badly though. Have a nice and rejuvenating weekend, xoxo
ReplyDeleteThanks Aimeslee. I actually quite enjoyed the lessons, but it's not something I would usually do! Glad your nights are cooling down, at least that's something! Hugs, Valerie
DeleteHi Val good morning! Love your sunflower piece, so beautiful, really gorgeous. I hope your day will be good, look after yourself and take care. Hugs from us all, Sarah
ReplyDeleteHi Sarah, thanks so much, have a wonderful day, hugs to all!
DeleteThat storm and the earthquake are horrible. I can't imagine living someplace where so many people die all at once from a natural disaster. Or even something man-made. Your latest painting is really lovely. I like your take on sunflowers and the textures and colors in your piece. And of course all those faces too. I also like your favorite collage. I hope you have that one framed and hanging up. Have a lovely end of the week Valerie. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteYes, Erika, it's horrible, so man people killed.drowned, crushed - it's an an awful disaster for 2 countries.. Glad you like the sunflowers! My fave collage is hanging on a wall at a friend's house. Have a great day, take care, hugs, Valerie
DeleteOh Valerie, those sunflowers! I've been trying to play with bright yellow and blue but in watercolor you don't get that power punch that you so beautifully showed. I hope this is being a good week for you and that you're feeling a little better.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jeanie. If you have watercolour pencils you could try deelpening the colours with them. Have a great day, hugs, Valerie
DeleteGreat idea! I'll give it a go!
DeleteDo that, it's easy and works!
DeleteJust a quick note, Valerie. I will be home on the weekend and then I can get back to commenting as normal. Hugs and kisses - David
ReplyDeleteThanks David, have a safe journey back! Hugs xxxxx

ReplyDeleteThanks so much. I think we know conversations like that, too! Hugs!
DeleteHi Val, hope you have a good day. I'm sorry your health is going down hill so quickly, that must be hard for you, I know you were always so active. I can understand it being very depressing. But you still paint wonderful pictures, and I hope you can continue to do so for a long time. Look after yourself, hugs, Martha
ReplyDeleteSorry, I wanted to say how much I like your sunflower painting. It's beautiful, and meaningful. Thanks!
