Hi Everybody!
Here's wishing us all a great weekend, stay safe and well! Here the weather has turned warm. Last week we had -14°, on Sunday we're expecting 18 - 20°. The sun is shining, and the birds are singing!
For my heavy metal challenge at AJJ I made an A3 piece on a painted and textured nackground. The sunflowers were stenciled with silver structure past, the birds with gold and bronze paint. The text is a German saying, 'Talking is silver, silence is golden'
The photos were taken at a street festival in Duisburg, a neighbouring town, a couple of years back. I think we are all looking forward to times when we will be able to mingle with other people without worrying about masks and keeping our distance!
Have a great weekend, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!
Beautiful art and photos Valerie. The wood sculptures are amazing! Have a fantastic weekend. Hugs!
ReplyDeleteThanks Martha, I love those sculptüres too!
DeleteLove your art piece! Very pretty! Love the fair! Love seeing all the different art, like the wood carvings! I hope we can go out soon and mingle!! Big Hugs and stay safe!

ReplyDeleteThanks Anesha, have a great weekend!
DeleteThe man with the suitcase has the right idea. Hands free shopping, easy to tote! I would spend all my money with the weaver, for I love basketry. Have a lovely weekend! Hugs, Deb {from very wet and very windy west Wales}
ReplyDeleteThanks Deb. I love my wheeled shopping bag! There were so many things I would have liked to buy there, it's great to see real handwork. Sorry your weather is so bad, it's windy but sunny here!
DeleteHello Gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThe last days I was working in the garden and was so beautiful! I am so happy that spring has come! I hope she will stay too!
Very nice and colorful your weekend post!
Enjoy your weekend! Hugs!
Thanks Sweetie! Spring is so much better than winter!
DeleteGood morning Your Exquisite Valerieness: Silence is golden indeed except when it come to my little angel, Lily, who I saw for the first time in about six weeks yesterday, along with her brand new teeth (two) and she was chattering away to me like crazy. No one else could understand what she was she was saying of course but she plied us with a never ending stream of utterances, punctuated by a few laughs, and it was all music to my ears! Miriam had an appointment with her hairdresser so she couldn't come, but once again I was able to meet up with Heather and Lily for our walk. Before long she won't need to be bundled up in quite so many clothes. Your visit to the street fair looks very enjoyable; so many sights to take in, so much to do. And coffee to drink, coffee, glorious coffee! Yippee! Tonight we are going to have dinner with friends in their home, now that restrictions on assembly have been relaxed. They have been isolating and so have we, so I don't think we are at great risk. It is an evening to look forward to! Hugs and kisses from snowy Ontario. David
ReplyDeleteHi David! Lily has teeth already? Oh my, time flies so quickly. I'm sure you were more than happy to meet up with Heather and Lily. I hope Miriam enjoyed the hairdresser! I think we will be happy when the shops 3rd can open again. Hairdressers are allowed to open here, too, but with very strict rules, and appointments are hard to get. Glad you are able to visit with friends again, enjoy your meal! It's warming up here, spring is on its way! Enjoy your weekend, hugs, Valerie
DeleteYour page is gorgeous. Lots of interesting wood sculptures. Some are nice, some are hideous, all are examples of real talent.
ReplyDeleteThanks Teresa. Tastes are definitely different, but it was fun to see so many various things!
DeleteTerrific page ~ I do love silence, but would trade it for a craft show or a performance gladly this Saturday :) I'm looking forward to them too. I'm glad you have warmer weather, we have sunshine after a very long week and a half of rainy grey days ~ so my spirits are lifted as well. Blessings to you ~
ReplyDeleteSilence is indeed good, but sometimes we need action! Sunshine definitely lifts the spirits! Enjoy your weekend!
DeleteAwesome festival I would have enjoyed this one with all wood carvings. and your journal page is creative and beautiful Happy weekend
ReplyDeleteThanks Kathy, enjoy your weekend, stay safe!
DeleteEnjoy that beautiful weather. I am jealous, although the sun is shining today. That is a good thing. And I love the flowers and the birds on your art today. Your quote is perfect with your color choices! And it is a true thing too. And fascinating photos today. The carved wooden owl was great, and there was so much to see. It looks like it had been a fun day out. Enjoy your weekend. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteThanks, I am enjoying it! So nice not to freeze. That was a fun day out at the Festival. Have a great weekend!
DeleteI love those sayings. That statue of the naked woman made me chuckle.
ReplyDeleteYes, she's funny!
DeleteWonderful art, that's a great saying Valerie!
ReplyDeleteAnd the festival looks amazing, I love those wood sculptures.
It will be lovely to mingle again, hope it won't be too long now.
Alison xx
Thanks Alison, it will be good to meet up with people again! Stay Safe.
DeleteA lovely piece and a fantastic festival. Love the street sculpture. I think it will be quite awhile before I feel ready to be in a crowd but maybe in a quiet event!
ReplyDeleteThanks. I know what you mean, we've all got used to avoiding people.
DeleteLovely page and fun older photos! So happy it is getting warmer there, sure not like the US.
ReplyDeleteThanks. It feels like spring!

DeleteHi Val, Bill here, Hope you are doing well!
ReplyDeleteThanks Bill, have a great, new week!
DeleteYour journal page is fabulous. I like the rule that talking is silver, yet silence is golden. It fits nicely with your theme at AJJ. It's a lovely entry with the raised flowers, too.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun trip you took. Is that around Carnival time? You got some great shots of wooden animals and great baskets, too. I am SO sorry I haven't been around to visit. I'm going to try to do better in the future. I hope you realize I'm struggling and want to catch up, but am finding it very difficult at the moment.
Thanks E. It was a spring Festival. Don't worry about catching up, I'm behind just now, too. Stay safe!

ReplyDeleteThanks Chris, have a great week!
DeleteFond memories. I especially love those fish sculptures :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, they were fascinating.
DeleteWow! You outdid yourself with the art and the photos. Thanks Valerie.
ReplyDeleteThanks Nicole, have a great day!
DeleteAnother fabulous piece Valerie. I went out without my big coat on at the weekend for the first time in ages and it was so nice. Take care xx
ReplyDeleteThanks. It's a great feeling to See the sun again!
DeleteYour lovely piece of art took me back quite a long time to when I was a little girl. I must have been given an autograph book at some time and I asked my teacher to write in it and she wrote "Make new friends but keep the old, these are silver thode are gold". Not the same but similar. Love your embossed silver pieces.
ReplyDeleteAlso I so enjoyed the photographs, who does not love a festival of any kind. The pirate ship first took my eye on top of the stall, reminding me of the stalls at the Christmas Markets in Germany with their little scenes and moving figures. But then, all the wooden sculptures are remarkable, there are some very talented people about.
Hugs, Neet. x
