Hi Everybody!
It's weekend - enjoy!
Today I am sharing a piece made for the More Mixed Media challenge. As always, our challenges are all anything mixed media goes, with an optional colour choice of red. You have 4 weeks to link to us, and there are prizes of digital paper packs to be won. Hope to see you there!
I made an A3 mixed media page. The background was gessoed and then splattered with gold paint. The heart was cut from book paper and collaged. Then I painted it red and overpainted it with diluted gold when it was dry. The birds were stenciled with gold and bronze:
and thanks a lot for coming by!

ReplyDeleteHi Sarah, hope it will dry out soon! Have a great weekend, hugs to you all!
DeleteHearts are my favourite shape, and I love the artwork today. Isn't it lovely to see the lush, green images of Burg Linn while Winter's bare, brown branches surround us, giving a promise of Spring, and hope, around the corner?

ReplyDeleteThanks Kathy. That was a fun event! Have a great, stay safe!
DeleteYou as well
DeleteI like your interpretation of the quote and the gold birds and gold shine on the heart. Looks like people were having a good time at the Roman fair. Take care.
ReplyDeleteThanks CJ! It's not every day we get to see ancient Roman!
DeleteThat fair looks really interesting. I love to see how ordinary things were done in the past. Your page is a beautiful reminder to me to keep dreaming, especially when things look bleak. Hugs, Teresa
ReplyDeleteThanks! Let's keep dreaming and hoping! Stay safe!
DeleteBurg Linn, as always is delightful. There are so many interesting features in this little town. The Roman festival was no doubt interesting, Valerie, and I am sure you enjoyed all it revealed of life back then. Did you wear a toga to get in the spirit of things? I suspect you did and quaffed mead from an earthenware mug. Spoke Latin and looked for muscular gladiators. After all chance is a fine thing and you have to take advantage of every opportunity that presents itself. The crowning piece of course is the coot on its nest! You really win maximum brownie points from me for that one. Just knowing it's a coot merits praise. The weekend is here. Does that mean you are back at home? If so I hope that all is going well (well, I hope it's going well regardless) and that you are looking forward to returning permanently. The pace of vaccinations seems to be accelerating somewhat, so perhaps there is light at the end of the proverbial tunnel. Hugs and kisses from a snowy and very cold southern Ontario. David
ReplyDeleteThanks David, Burg Linn is indeed a beautiful place. We did indeed drink something like mead, and I very much appreciated the muscular legs of the gladiators! There were lots of spots nesting in the middle of the ponds and stream. I am not at home this weekend, but hope to be home in 2 or 3 weeks. Here the vaccinations are extremely slow, they make extravagant plans and promises, but nothing is happening. Oh yes, people over 60 got 6 masks each for free! We have had weather on the way and the Rhine is flooding. Have a great weekend, hugs to you both, keep warm!
DeleteLots of coots, I hate the automatic correcture!
DeleteI love the golden heart and birds, It is beautiful Valerie. It is a powerful piece. And the Roman festival is quite interesting. I like the umbrella that lady with the yellow and white toga is wearing. I wonder where they get their shoes? Have a great rest of your weekend. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteThanks Erika! Apparently the 'Romans' make all their costumes themselves, but I don't know about the sandals. Have a happy weekend!

DeleteOh Valerie I love this, a simple design giving so much meaning. A shimmering heart with words so true, as an A3 this would make a great piece of wall art.
ReplyDeleteMy look how short that Roman outfit is, like a micro skirt haa haa.. would be a bit chilli today with all our snow. Hugs Tracey xx
Thanks Tracey. I suppose they had warm cloaks in winter! Have a great week!
