Hi Everybody!
We're enjoying pleasant winter weather just now - cold and frosty with sunny intervals, just great for walking. I clocked up nearly 22000 steps today, and enjoyed every one. But we have wet and stormy weather on the way, so I'm determined to enjoy this good spell as long as it lasts!
I am sharing a mixed media journal spread from my small (A5) journal
I have more photos from our recent visit to Venlo (Holland)
There is a large market where you can buy almost everything:
Something for every taste - or lack of it!
The narrow streets were all full:
The River Maas:
I didn't know there were crocodiles there:
I hope they don't eat the geese:
I always love the views of the roofs:
And some photos from this afternoon, where I was able to watch the sun sinking through the mist over the Rhine:
And as I walked home the crescent moon showed itself in the sky, and the mist started curling up from the ground - magical!
Have a great day, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!
Hi Valerie, loved seeing your journal page spread - I always enjoy your use of pretty feathers too!
ReplyDeleteThe market photos are fun and those lovely hanging baskets of flowers decorate the street beautifully.
I had a giggle at that crocodile statue! wow ;D)!
To complete your walk with such a glorious moon backdrop - wonderful, those are beautiful photos ~✨💛~
Liebe Valerie
Lieben Gruss Elke
Oh Val, what a wonderful sunset, soooooo very beautiful, I can imagine you standing there watching and enjoying it. Love your journal page, so pretty, and I always wonder how you bring so man disparate things together and make them look perfectly at home with each other! Lovey photos from Venlo, too. I need to finish the laundry now, one more machine and then I'm done for today. Goodnight! Hugs, Sarah
ReplyDeleteGreat series of images. It always seems particularly appealing to me that you have a choice of several countries that you can visit very easily, all with their own charm and individual attraction.
ReplyDeleteEurope is small and the borders closer together.
DeleteGreat photos and a beautiful nature spread Valerie! I had a lovely walk today too, nearly 21000 steps, and it was a beautiful cold and bright day.
ReplyDeleteAlison xx
Sounds like you had the same weather as we did, wonderful walking weather.
DeleteYour journal artwork is lovely. I always like seeing birds. I like the additional photos from your day trip to Holland. I'm glad you showed another photo of the portable organ. It looks like a lot of people were out and about, shopping for bargains. But I was surprised to see the flowering plant: isn't it too cold for it to still be blooming? Apparently not. I like the architecture there. And your sunset photos were a nice treat to see. I saw the moon out during the day today, but I forgot to try to get a photo of it.
ReplyDeleteThe flowers are hardy and often survive frosty weather. The streets in the cities are narrow and get heat from the surrounding buildings and lights.
DeleteIf I did 22,000 steps I would either be an amputee or in traction. BIG HUGE KUDOS to you for all the walking you do. And still be able to go and do it again the next day!
ReplyDeleteA lovely post, great pics.x
ReplyDeleteHi Valerie beautiful mixed media journal pages, well done my friend.
ReplyDeleteOh I love markets too great pics Valerie hope you have a lovely day xx
Wow! Well done on 22,000 steps …
ReplyDeleteI thought your art page was beautiful, I love the colours you've used.
Great photographs again.
Enjoy the rest of your week.
All the best Jan
Beautiful spread, glad the weather is better. What a lovely trip, the market looks good.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty page today Valerie. And I enjoyed the outdoor market in Venlo. I don't think of crocs or alligators in Europe at all. But Nimes, France's symbol is a croc also. Hmm. It is a mystery. And the moisture in the air sure made some stunning photos of sunset. Hope your week is going well. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteWow! I admire that you can do 22,000 steps in a day!! I am very happy if I manage 7000!! The market looks great, that poor crocodile has a terrible skin condition😉 and the geese look pretty happy!😊 Love your journal pages and your walk photos.
ReplyDeleteI am going to say it again. I don't know how you manage our time to do all that you do and create everyday. I bow down to you. I really like this piece with the black feathers. The photos are so fun. I wish I could see that market.
ReplyDeleteI save time on housew**k!
Delete"Live in the moment" ist immer gut.
Hilfe! :-)
Der Sonnenuntergang ist wunderschön.
Dir einen schönen Tag und GLG, Iris
Once again, I seem to be late for the party. I can't seem to catch my breath, even though I was SURE December would be easier. Your journal spread is amazing. I love the way you have put it together. It's awesome and shows nature at its finest.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos of the Christmas market. Laughed at the men's wear. Took me a minute to "get" it, though. Thanks for taking us with you. Your photos made me believe I was there, too.
this market seems to be very interesting place:)
ReplyDeleteHello Val! I'll be back cos now I'm in a hurry! Loved the journal in the thumbnail so...Have a good day!
ReplyDeleteYour journal looks so wonderful, and I would love to shop at a lovely place like that. Bet I would find lots and lots of goodies! Such wonderful scenery! Hugs, RO
ReplyDeleteWow! Twenty-two thousand steps... very impressive! I'm glad Mother Nature is providing you with such good walking weather. Once upon a time, I used to walk a lot. We didn't count our walks in steps back then, but it was nothing for me to walk ten miles to my destination rather than take a bus... simply because I enjoyed it. I still like to walk, but my feet don't always agree. Neuropathy makes them rather disagreeable at times. (Must be from walking so much when I was younger. HA!)
ReplyDeleteLove your artwork and photos, as always. That street market looks like a fun place to amble.
Very pretty journal page. I enjoyed the market. Had to laugh at the tacky men's underwear. The decorations across the street remind me of the decorations for feasts in Boston's North End. I was amazed to see the lamp posts with flowers. The crocodiles are fun, but not and image I associate with Holland. Maybe they got tired of wooden shoes and windmills. As always the photographs you take along the Rhine are magical. Have a good week.
ReplyDeleteHmmm, I keep wondering who on earth would wear underwear like that? But there seems to be a call for it or they wouldn't sell it!
DeleteVenlo looks like all sorts of fun. Your journal piece is wondrous. You are the queen of walking.
ReplyDeleteHugs
"or lack of it" roflol! Priceless. I love that trailer. I'd enjoy seeing it up close :)
ReplyDeleteGlad it made you laugh!
DeleteWhat a so so Wonderful Spread Valerie !! I love it, the birds are really beautiful, love the butterfly stamp and the lovely background. Your trip to Holland may have been great, thanks so much for sharing those fabulous photographs. The streets are interesting, with all the people, and all kind of things you can get. Your sunsets are always fantastic.
ReplyDeleteI wish you a very nice Thursday,
and send big hugs,
Caty
Great artwork and photographs today Valerie. What fab underware, now I know what to get Neil for Christmass (NOT) We had a 22,000 step walk today too along a couple of beaches in Devon. It was wonderful, the sun was shining so it was coat on, coat off, jumper on, jumper off - then the sun went in so it was EVERYTHING on lol. Have a fun week, Sue xx
ReplyDeleteMorning Valerie, i'm late again. Lovely journal page today with it's display of gatherings of the season. The birds that visit my garden have been so hungry this past week as temperatures have dipped quite a bit, must remember to check those bird feeders before I head out this morning, they will be tweeting at before the alarm goes off otherwise.
ReplyDeleteI love those everything and more markets but i'm not sure about those under pants :/ Hee hee..
Nice to see the sun setting in your part of the world it's like being there with you.
Hugs Tracey xx
