Hi Everybody!
Hope your week has got off to a good start.
The Rhine is still flooding here. My buddy G
came yesterday afternoon and we went for
a quick walk to look at it. Today the high water
is supposed to reach its zenith, so I hope it will
be receding after that. At least it's dry today.
On Tuesday we are beginning a new challenge at
Try it on Tuesday -my favourite things.
I chose die-cuts, fabric and sewing to create my piece.
The background is canvas. The birds were die-cut
from pink satin, the words from paper painted black.
The wings were die-cut from sequined fabric, and I added
a little padding while sewing them down.
As always, projects of all formats are allowed
and you have 2 weeks to link to us:
It's also time for Elizabeth's T stands for Tuesday
party, so here a warm welcome to all of the
friendly ladies of the T gang. I made a hybrid page
using a photo of my fave cappuccino and ameritini
cookies taken in Cafe Burghof next to the castle ruins:
And now some photos taken on yesterday's walk.
The meadows where the horses usually are:
The meadows with the Rhine in the background:
This stream is usually just a trickle of water. It has now
completely covered the bridge and the footpath along the Rhine:
Have a great day, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!
Fabulous piece, - adore those pink bird die cuts! And wow, the Rhine looks incredible, amazing photos! Glad you could go out for a walk!
ReplyDeleteYour textile piece is fabulous, love the delicate colours and birds and flowers. The coffee page is great, love the humour, and I always hope for a quiet breakfast....The photos are superb, really atmospheric. Glad you got out for a walk. Have a nice evening, hugs, Sarah
ReplyDeleteSuch a pretty try-it. Really has me thinking of Spring or at least warmer weather. Love the sentiment of your tag. Yes, kindly keep quiet while I have my first morning cup of tea. Oh, my! The meadows look like a lake. Poor horses. Hope the were taken to high and dry ground. Hope the waters recede soon and not too much damage. Hope you're feeling better. Stay dry!
ReplyDeletebeautiful work and such a fun a challenge! That flooding is scary!!!!
Lieben Gruss Elke
The textile project is gorgeous Valerie, I love the pink die cut birds and the flowers look so pretty as well.
ReplyDeleteI can relate to the words you added to the hybrid page. For me its my first tea for the day, I am no fit company until I have finished the first mug full.
The Rhine photos look so atmospheric, I hope they got the horses in safely before the flooding.
Happy T day wishes.
Yvonne xx
Glad to hear the water is peaking. Lovely piece for TIOT and your drink looks so good.
ReplyDeleteI know the flooding must bring its own problems and plenty of them, but I can't deny that your photos aren't striking.
ReplyDeleteYour photos are just awesome-thank you for sharing your walk with us. and I love your art-just gorgeous-both pieces
ReplyDeleteHappy T Day Kathy
Hi Valerie what a pretty piece, and thankyou for sharing your lovely pics, its a lovely walk you take xx
ReplyDeleteThe water may be high but it does look great in your photographs ...
ReplyDeleteI did like your artwork especially your hybrid page using a photo of your cappuccino.
All the best Jan
Your TIOT piece is so beautiful Valerie. Nice colors! I like seeing some brights at this lacking a lot of color time of year. And I also like a morning tea in some quiet. But I even more so like an afternoon tea, when I first get home, in some quiet. After kids all day, I need that break. :) And wow. The Rhine and it's streams are so high! It is spring flooding, not what I would expect in January. Hopefully no one's homes are flooded. happy T Day and happy new week. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteThe floods are quite common here at this time of year.
Deletepretty TIOT project- love the birds, the roses , the colors...
ReplyDeleteFab hybrid coffee piece too- yes, sometimes it is nice just to enjoy in peace and quiet;) You live in such a beautiful place-thank you for sharing it often. Happy T day!
Loving your hybrid and mixed media page. Those sequin wings and love birds are my favorite. Glad to hear that you are out and about!
ReplyDeleteHappy Tea Day,
Kate
I simply adore your TioT entry. Some of your favorite things are some of mine as well. I think this is so beautiful and very romantic.
ReplyDeleteThe meadow where the horses usually graze took me by surprise. I had NO idea it was so wet there. What I wouldn't give for a bit of moisture. It never fails that the people who don't need more rain get it, and those who need it, don't. Mother nature is often fickle that way. But I was thrilled you were able to get out for a bit and have a short walk. I hope it means your antibiotics are kicking in and you are on the mend.
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your T entry today. Not only is it clever, it is well done. I would love to make digital art like yours, but I can't seem to get the hang of it. I especially love the words and script in the background of your coffee/cappuccino and Ameritini cookies. Thanks for sharing this beautiful hybrid art with us for T this Tuesday, dear Valerie. And I hope you are on the mend, too.
Good morning dear Valerie!
ReplyDeleteGreat post!
Your mixed media page and your hybrid are very beautiful creations!

I love your coffee project made for Elizabeth's T Gang, too! I agree - I LOVE the smell of coffee, especially in the morning. The quiet of morning hours is a wonderful time. And your photos are simply amazing. So, so beautiful. I feel like I was there with you! Happy New Year, my friend! HUGS!!
ReplyDeleteHappy new year my friend. Thank you for taking me with you on your walk along the Rhine. Wow, the water is very high! I wouldn't like to live in that white house!

A beautiful piece of work Valerie, love the birds. Looks a bit wet in your part of the world, much the same here

This really is such a lovely project Valerie! I live those birds but must say the whole design is just fabulous! I love the hybrid piece - hubby and I exchange few words until we have had our coffee which is always with breakfast! So pleased you got out for a walk - even if it was to look at flooded areas - the banks near here have been dug out so hopefully less flooding this year, the island disappeared last week but is back now! Happy T Day! Hugs, Chrisx

ReplyDeleteI can't tell its size from the photo, but your "my favourite things" piece would make a lovely wall hanging if it's large enough. Very pretty!
ReplyDeleteWonderful texture looks on your hybrid page, Valerie. The sound of "nobody talking" - lol.
Is the river expected to rise any more? It looks pretty scary.
Happy T-day! Hugs, Eileen
My piece is big enough for a wall hanging. The water has peaked and should recede now, we were lucky it wasn't worse.
DeleteGreat art again today ♥ The die cut & fabric one is very sweet and the journal page about coffee is spot on for me. I so love my alone quiet time. You do have some water issues over there. Even though we got rain we are still in a major drought here. We are hoping for more rain on Thursday so keep your fingers crossed for us.
ReplyDeleteHappy T Day!!!!
Thanks so much for stopping by the blog!!!
DeleteGorgeous art piece...beautiful contrast with the pink and green! Truly stunning photos as well. Looks much greener than where I live in the U.S.! Here it's grey and brown covered in snow...so I needed to see your colorful artwork! ♥
ReplyDeleteBeautiful design and project. Thanks for your comments while I was absent.. Have a good start to the New Year. We have had temps of 45 celcius in my part of the world, a tad too hot for me.xx[aNNie]
ReplyDeleteOh your piece is so lovely! The colors and designs are so pretty. The photos are incredible too!
ReplyDeleteI love that pink in your first piece!
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with your coffee piece. Perfect! :)
Wow! Can't believe the river is SO high. Hope it is starting to go down. It does look beautiful in your photos. Thanks for sharing!

ReplyDeleteWhat lovely pieces Valerie, the collage is really pretty - I always love cheesecloth on a project. Your coffee piece made me laugh, it's exactly how I feel on a morning (and afternoon sometimes) xx
ReplyDeleteI hope the flooding stops for you! That is alot of water! Your pink art piece is so pretty! Love the coffee one too! LOL! Very funny! LOL! Your pictures are so beautiful! Very dreamy looking! Big Hugs!
