Hi Everybody!
For Michele's challenge at our Tag Tuesday, with the
theme of animals, I made a triptych of animal
themed mixed media tags with an African feel.
I found this painted background under many layers
on my table, which I cleared off this week. (Yes!) I chopped it into
3, added the motives with stencils and black paint,
and highlights with my sakura pen. The middle one got
some added rusty diamonds so I could play with my new
goodies again. They each measure 9 1/2 x 4 1/2"
I sewed them onto some recycled black card.
And you still have till Monday evening to join
the challenge, for which a prize is being given.
Yesterday I visited a children's farm in Neuss - an old farm, made into a
petting zoo/ museum/park. A friend was kind enough to drive me there,
the weather was good, and we spent several hours meeting all
the animals. The peacock was the first one we saw. He lives with his
'harem' in an enclosure, which they share with a few very pretty ducks.
It was hard to get photos as the wire fences blocked the view a bit,
and I had to poke my camera through the holes:
Isn't this duck gorgeous?
And I even got a feather that was on the floor!
More photos of the animals and the rusty, old implements and
toys and household goods etc
will follow in the coming days, so watch this space!
Needless to say, I had a wonderful time,
and big thanks to G for taking me there.
Have a great weekend, take care,
and thank a lot for coming by!
Wonderful theme and blend, peace is all we need in the world right now. Thanks for sharing, and great photos too.

Lucky you finding a peacock feather! Your tags are very apt, I'm just back from a road trip to Chester zoo with my daughter, they had baby giraffes and elephants! We had a lovely time. Hope you are keeping well. Xx

What fun tags. I really love the African theme and a great way to use up old stuff on the table!
ReplyDeleteKate
Yes, and there is somehow always old stuff lingering on my table!
DeleteLovely colourful tags.
ReplyDeleteThe peacocks are gorgeous but that duck is fantastic, I don't know what it is the colours are amazing.
Have a lovely weekend
All the best Jan
Mr. Peacock and Mr. Duck are both quite stunning. Funny how in the bird world it is usually the males who are so beautiful. They say it because the females like it and see it as the most suitable males. I can't wait to see what else you saw. And I love the African themed tags. It feels like sunset on a hot night on the savannah. Hope you have a great start to our weekend. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteSTUNNING, all of these are just WOW.XX

You certainly are having a ball with the animal tags. The are all very lovely, and each is so different, even though they were created at the same time.
ReplyDeleteI was SO impressed with the peacock and the duck. The photos were simply out of this world. So much detail, I felt I could reach out and touch them both. These were wonderful shots!
Lovely animal tag - beautiful and great photos - love the peacock.
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend!
I forgot to answer your question about the internet provider. There is one other company in town and it is cable (cox). My provider is over the phone lines. Cable is MUCH faster, and far more expensive. Nearly double, in fact. Wish I could afford cable, but it's not to be at least for the moment. So I put up with my crappy internet that goes down nearly every time it rains.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous tags, and totally amazing photos of lovely animals. Peacocks are always so stunning.
ReplyDeleteYour red tags are terrific, I especially like the giraffe.
ReplyDeleteI've haven't seen a duck like that, he is so beautiful and he knows it, he's got attitude.
I neve quite believe peacocks when I see them, their tails are magical.
The duck seems to be a banded teal - whatever, it was just gorgeous!
DeleteI love the Africa tags. The hot reds bring to us the heat of African scenes. Love that peacock in your petting zoo trip!
