Hi Everybody!
For Wendy's texture challenge at Tag Tuesday I made this 10" tag. The
substrate was cut from packing materials and painted with Maya Gold
metallic paint in turquoise. The large flowers and dots were stenciled
with structure paste in purple, which I then bubbled with
the heat gun to give more texture. The centres were made with
small 3D balls (Pentart) pressed onto silicone glue and painted with
turquoise. I added a few glass dew-drops, the acetate butterflies
and the sentiment, which very much
expresses my feelings....I sewed it to a piece of recycled
corrugated card. I am also linking to
and Go Tag Thursday, anything goes.
For Art Journal journey, Rosie's circle theme, I made an 7 x 5"
journal page, using a quote written
with my new quill pen and hand made ink, see here.
The background was stamped - the 'sun' is from Hein Design, the ducks from Lavinia and the plants from LaBlanche. Once again I sewed all
the layers together.
The farm/museum I visited recently also has a wonderful
collection of toys, including lot of rocking horses, which I am
sure will please Elizabeth!
I still have more toys to show in another post!
Have a great day , take care
and thanks a lot for coming by!
Hi Val, just got your mail before we go out, we're collecting my Mum and then all going to my sister for the day, the kids can all play together in the garden, so they'll love that. Gorgeous, gorgeous tag, love the colours and the texture you created, really fabulous. Love the journal page, too, and the wonderful toy photos, such lovely things! Enjoy your day, hugs, Sarah
ReplyDeleteThat's an interesting museum to visit, great photos. And nice tag, details and all. Greetings!
ReplyDeleteI'm in hog heaven. This is simply the most amazing area of the museum and zoo. I am in total awe and keep going back and forth seeing more and more rocking horses that are all so different and unique. They are just amazing.
ReplyDeleteWhich of course, almost made me forget about the art work you shared, like the beautiful tag with all that great texture and its purpleness (I'm calling it a word). It is fabulous.
But let's get back to the rocking horses. I've got one (albeit quite small) that is on rollers, and it's a replica of one that looks very similar to some you shared above.
Oh wait. I forgot the incredible piece you made for AJJ. Not only is it lovely, it sort of fits with your feelings about Hitler. And I saw yesterday there was some sort of remembrance to something about Auschwitz, too. So the Mark Twain quote was quite appropriate. Sorry, I wasn't really watching the TV. It's just on for noise for the cats, but I did catch something about Auschwitz.
Now let's get back to the rocking horses. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!!!
I knew you would love them- When I went in there I said, 'Elizabeth, where are you?!'
DeleteI was stuck here in the U.S. wishing I had been there with you. So many rocking horses, so little time!
DeleteA show stopping tag Valerie it is wonderful with the textures you created with your techniques.
ReplyDeleteThe circles piece is beautiful and the ink and writing special.
More fantastic photographs of the things at the museum and many of them look very old. I think we both had the same thoughts with museums and old things today. Strange how that often happens with us.
Have a great day
Love Chrissie xx
Fabulous and interesting photos.
ReplyDeleteLove your purple tag, at first I thought you may have used the 'melting pot' and ultra thick embossing powder. Looks awesome.
great post.x [aNNie]
great tag and wonderful texture, love the writing with your handmadeink that is great work ;O)))
ReplyDeleteAmazing tag and a wonderful page - thank you for linking to AJJ again -
ReplyDeletethe old toys are great! Happy day!
I am with you as regards the sentiment of your tag...my housework never gets done! The art calls louder!
ReplyDeleteLove your tag with the blues and all that texture! Interesting quote on your AJJ circle piece. Thanks for sharing the antique (wholesome) farm toys!
ReplyDeleteThe colors on that tag are amazing Valerie. Good choices for such a stunning piece.:) And your circle journal page is super too. That quote is so true. Sometimes it would be cool to have a time machine and go back for a glimpse of what it was really like without our modern eyes and also without only the authors of surviving pieces interpretation. And cool old toys. I am sure they delighted kids as much as ones do today. Wow, Elizabeth with be out of her mind with all those rocking horses. Enjoy the rest of your day. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteLook at those rocking horses!
ReplyDeleteLove the tags. The housework can wait made me laugh.
YOU, have a great day.
A gorgeous tag and a wonderful journal page. I love the photos - what a fabulous collection of toys.

So schön all die alten Pferdchen,Kinderglück pur.
ReplyDeleteLiebe Grüße
Sabine

ReplyDeleteYour tag is super, I like the words. Your circles piece is great too, I remember quill pens, or at least their relatives, scratchy pens. You seem to have controlled yours, I never could.
Your large tag is gorgeous, loved the metalic shine on the flowers, also the stitching and of course that quote is the best I've seen in ages.

Cheers and have a wonderfully happy weekend xx
