All that glisters....

Hi  Everybody!

Time is flying, hope it's flying well for you!

Yesterday I made a 10" tag with Klimt's image of
Adele Bloch-Bauer, which was featured in the wonderful
film 'Woman in gold'. I painted the tag with Maya gold in
turquoise and used a CWS stencil to add the squares
with pewter metallic paint. The image was fussy cut, and
surrounded by gold leafing in various shades. I also used some
gold rip-off foil to add some more gold shine here
and there. I doodled lots of swirls into the background
using  gold pen, and gave Adele a coat of liquid glass. I
sewed the layers together, and added 2 tag-embellies
(thanks Donna!).
I am linking to Simon Monday challenge, use a stencil,
and to Paint Party Friday, hosted by Eva and Kristin.

And as I like the image, I had fun playing with it in my digital
programme, layering the images one over the
other to give this nice effect. The quote is, of course, from
Shakespeare's 'Merchant of Venice':

And I have another tag using torn and sewed paper for
Tag Tuesday, Joan's theme of The beach:

And last but not least, some photos from my walks and/or
balcony:

Have a great day, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!

  4. I remember the movie made from Klimt's famous painting. You represented the Woman in Gold well, and the stencil set the mood, too. Of course, I also enjoyed seeing how you treated the Woman in Gold in a digital entry, too. Beautiful ways to treat her, and both so different.

I LOVE the beach tag. I really like how you used the sewing over the sandy beach dunes. It certainly set them apart and gave them dimension.

As always, I enjoyed the photos. My favorite was the photo of the window with the toy (knight?) sitting on the sill.

  5. It a gorgeous tag using the Klimt's painting. The metal effects are fantastic.
The digital alteration was amazing, the more I looked I was either plunging down a tunnel or seeing it from the top of a hill. It was a great illusion.
A wonderful seaside tag with your great sewing skills and of course the fantastic photos made me feel summery. Its again cold and wet here.

  6. Such a lot of wonders today. The very beautiful artwork with the gold and then the way you did the pyramid effect on it
Must have taken ages with all the resizing.

    Love all of the photographs
But the beautiful delicate blue daisy did it for me today.

Hope you are having a good day

  10. I love both your tags, Valerie. Woman in Gold was a favorite movie of mine and you represented it beautifully with the textures and gold. (I loved the digital rendition, too!). Your second tag was so free and happy. I love the beach and sea -- it hit all the right notes.

  15. Woman in Gold is a great movie. I recently read the book which was extremely well written and I highly recommend it. Your Woman in Gold art is a tribute to the woman Adele Bloch-Bauer was. The question the book discusses (and not in a cheap sensationalist way) was what the relationship between Klimt and Adele. He was quite the Casanova. No more said. The beach tag is inspiring me too. I am working on an ocean book and so the salt water is running in my veins right now. Hope all is well. Hugs-Erika

  28. Sensational Klimt inspiration. The golden tiled texture is simply stunning as an extension of the portrait - beautifully imagined and executed - and I love the layered framing too. The stitching on the seashore tag is such a clever touch to add texture. And what lovely photos... I feel like I've had a day out!
