Hi Everybody!
Hope your day is going well. This week has flown by again.
Thanks to all who asked about my dental work, my dentist did a good job,
and all is well.
For Art Journal Journey I have another A3 mixed media page. The background has been painted with gesso tinged with a little pink. I added some fragments of old letters round the edges. I drew the face, and used stamps from LaBlanche for the roses and leaves. I painted the features and flowers with water colours. The verse, 'Gather ye rosebuds' was written by Robert Herrick in the 17th century.
I am also linking to Paint Party Friday, hosted by Eva and Kristin; Mix it Monthly, flowers; Kim Dellow's Friday face fun and 49 Faces

I spent time watching the men at work at the Rhine, they were removing the detritus left over from the storms, so that it doesn't block the stream flowing into the river at this point
And I spied more ships:
I love watching the horses, and seeing how friendly they all are to each other:
The sun came out for 5 minutes, and then disappeared for the rest of the day.
Have a great day you all, take care,
and thanks a lot fo coming by!
Lovely face, I love the rosebuds! Those men are doing good, necessary work.
ReplyDeleteAnother wonderful floral face, really beautiful. Great photos, too, hugs, Sarah

ReplyDeleteBeautiful page, with a lovely soft feel to it, and a lovely poem to go with it.
ReplyDeleteA lovely rose page Valerie. Our roses haven't done too well this summer, too much rain and not enough sun I think! Have a lovely weekend. Xx

A beautiful page Valerie - my favourite colour combination green and pink.
ReplyDeletexxx Hazel.
I like the combination of pink and green, it's magnificent!
ReplyDeleteLove the quote you found and that beautiful rose girl. I think you made the right choice with a slightly pink background. It really makes her romantic. And I am wondering why that horse has his/her eyes covered? And interesting watching them clear out the storm debris on the Rhine. Hope your weekend is starting off on a good foot.
ReplyDeleteSome were masks because they are sensitive to the flies.
DeleteHi Valerie! I love your gorgeous work of art! You are doing amazing things with the time theme, my friend! And as always, I loved seeing your wonderful photos. I am so happy that you were able to capture the sun!!! You were in the right place at the right time!!!
ReplyDeleteA beautiful delicate piece of artwork Valerie,
ReplyDeleteGreat action shots of the daily goings on on the river.
We have horses in a field in the front of our house and I could watch them for hours.
Happy PPF to you ;D
Another lovely piece. :) And how cool to see the maintenance work!
ReplyDeleteAnother beautiful face and flowers ! Have a great weekend, Shirleyxx
ReplyDeleteThis too is a beautiful design. You are a master artist my friend. Love the walking pics and the horses are beautiful. Hugs, cm
ReplyDeletelovely colors and theme/quote Valerie! Wonderful photos too.
ReplyDeleteAnd her expression is exactly how I look (although not nearly as beautiful as she is!!) when I get roses and they die immediately. Sooooooooooo... although I love their beauty - I have told everyone - don't send me roses. Plant me a rose bush!!! They last a lot longer. ON THE OTHER HAND... totally love how you captured the roses here in your project Valerie - they are FOREVER now! Just LOVELY.
ReplyDeleteSeeing the dozer bucket full of stuff.... looks like us working here at the ranch trying to get the creek bed cleared of debree after a storm!! Loved seeing these pics. j.
Cool art! Love the colors and arrangement 💙
ReplyDeleteRomantic, and delicate piece...I love the pretty roses and the soft colours!
ReplyDeleteHugs Giggles
Good Evening Valerie. What a fabulous piece of art. So colourful and interesting too. Lovely pictures too. Wonder why one of The horses was wearing a blindfold. Hugs Rita xxx
ReplyDeleteIt's to keep the flies off the eyes

ReplyDeleteHave a lovely weekend.

Beautiful color for the face and the roses, really lovely. I also liked your photos today. My friend has donkeys and she covers their heads so that the bugs don't get into their eyes. I never knew this so had to ask her. I felt so wise when I saw your photo with the horse with the blinders. Great variety of boats that travel the Rhine. Thanks for the photos and your journal inspiration today.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
C
Love the art today and great poem to go with it :)
ReplyDeleteLovely photos of all around you... beautiful horses♥♥♥♥
Really beautiful! Love the face and the flowers. Nice photos, too!
ReplyDeleteI love pink. Your page is super gorgeous. Beautiful face and fantastic background.
ReplyDeletehugs,
Teresa
Although I simply adore the way you arranged the flowers in her hair, I especially like the roses at the bottom. The colors are lovely, yet vintage looking. They remind us that even though they are at their peak of perfection now, they have a very short life span.
ReplyDeleteWhile at my friend's house, I watched a show about how, if logs and debris are left unchecked, they can cause more damage than floods, because the flood waters build up behind the debris, then there is even more damage due to the walled up water and logs. It was amazing to watch, and your photos reminded me of that.
A beautiful face and I love the roses! Seeing the photos of the men clearing away the debris is a reminder of how much more organised things are in other European countries. ...we get floods here because councils say is no money for cleaning out drains these days - I remember seeing lorrys coming around regularly - I can't recall seeing even one this year! The river near us has a little island and it is often piled with debris but it's left for the next high tide to wash it further down river! Sorry, rant over! Your horse photos are lovely and I hope today is a sunnier one for you! Hugs, Chrisx
ReplyDeleteLovely art! and great photos.
ReplyDeleteA delightful page , your ladies faces are all so beautfiul.
ReplyDeleteYvonne xx
Beautiful roses and a beautiful journal page, Valerie. When I was a little girl, I remember my mum giving me a birthday card with that poem on it. As you can imagine, I didn't really 'get' the significance of it being probably about 8! I just liked the picture of a lady gathering roses! Your lovely art work took me back to my childhood, when I first began to love roses. xx
ReplyDeleteGreat page ♥ and the photos are always fun to see!
