Hi Everybody!
Hope your day is going well. I have been having problems with my internet today. It is back on now, but slower than usual, so hope things will soon be back to normal. I know these things are sometimes unavoidable, but it is still annoying.
Today I tried to copy a painting from Toulouse Lautrec, who painted many pictures of women, and whose name is connected with the Moulin Rouge and the Montmartre, where he often portrayed the night life of Paris. It is called 'Le Corset Rouge', from 1896. The background was made with brushos and sprayed and dripped colours, and I drew the figure with charcoal and pastel chalks.
I am linking to Art Journal Journey, Masculine and feminine.

Today started off with a cloudy sunrise.
I noticed these mushrooms growing in a hollow tree-stump
Somebody has painted the masculine sign on one of the trees:

Roof tops and spires
Have a great day you all, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!

Nice to learn a bit about Lautrec! I just read his sad life story. Nice photos today too.
ReplyDeleteYes, he must have had a sad life with his health problems and everything else.

DeleteOh to have a pert bum like that. Your drawing is fabulous Valerie. Summer has finally arrived, it was actually hot and sunny yesterday and today looks the same. Hope the sun is shining for you. Xx
ReplyDeleteLove the thought of having a 'pert bum' - those were the days!
DeleteGosh, I was quite surprised when I opened my email this morning and managed to change screen before Wee Man looked across, haha. Your painting is beautiful indeed and the roof and steeple photos are fabulous. Happy Sunny Thursday to you {{Hugs}}
ReplyDeleteLove your page today. I'm not familiar with this painting at all, but you definitely caught his feel. Sometimes I think it would be fun to take a trip back in time and check out some of these painted places/people, but only if we could stay for just a little bit. I don't know if any of these past times would be places to stay as they must be so different in many ways from what wee are familiar with now. Glad we have these paintings and also these old buildings (like in your gorgeous photos) to give us these glimpses back though. Hope you have a great day.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photos today, I always enjoy starting my day off with a little walk through Valerie land! haha! hugs :)
ReplyDeleteWonderfully sexy, I love in these warm colors. Excellent execution!
ReplyDeleteHi Valerie, Beautiful art work on Le Corset Rouge. You did an amazing job capturing the style from the artist. Love the buildings from your walk. Hope your internet behaves.
ReplyDeleteHugs, CM
Good depiction and I really like the quote. Much art defies description and trying to explain it sometimes takes something away from it. I really must get myself some Brushos sometime. It is on my wish list.
ReplyDeleteThanks for another lovely pictorial stroll with you, my friend.
Hugs
Teresa
YOu've captured Lautrec perfectly Valerie. YOu always take it to a new spin. xox
ReplyDeleteOh Lord!! I think she forgot something. Some like it HOT! HOT HOT!
ReplyDeleteReally? What did she forget?!
Deletewow - eine fantastische Arbeit und fantastische Kurven ;o)
ReplyDeleteLG Dagmar
Can imagine the pain being laced into those corsets, but have to say it is a fantastic slim figure she has, not a bit of spare flesh to be seen. Fabulous art and super photos.
ReplyDeleteYvonne xx.
Great art today. She certain looks (almost) ready to dance it up at the Moulin Rouge! What a lucky find to see the mushrooms growing in the tree!
ReplyDeleteLove the pictures on this post Valerie and there is no doubt - you are quite the artist!
ReplyDeleteSandy xx
