Hi Everybody!
For Art Journal Journey I tried to draw a face with a long neck like Modigliani. The A3 background was painted with gesso, and I used charcoal pencils, pastel chalks and India ink. It didn't work out as I wanted to, and then I grabbed a pink pen, and then a blue one and started scribbling on it. I kept on scribbling till she had enough hair and I was feeling much less frustrated by that time. Then I gave her eyes to match her hair, and decided to leave it as it was. Not everything turns out as we plan, but I like it now!
I am also linking to Kim Dellow's Friday Face art and Moo Mania and More, anything goes.
The birds are still visiting regularly:
This one has a piece of bread in its mouth. They really like white bread, bur rumple their beaks at wholegrain products!
This seems to be a ghost bird. It took off as I pressed the button, you can just see the feet and the movement!
The wild roses are really plentiful this year, and they are growing all along the Rhine, really pretty.
Looking towards the Rhine:
This old chair had evidently been thrown out:
And the flower shop is always worth a look:
Have a great day you all, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!
I love your face! :)
ReplyDeleteAnd I enjoyed the comment about feeling less frustrated after doing her hair. That's an unexpected bonus! :)
Thank you for an inspiring post today.
Art can be very liberating.

ReplyDeleteHerrlich dass Du nicht nur Frust abbauen konntest in ihren Haaren-
auch sieht das Endergebnis spitze und sehr, sehr originell aus!
Ihre Augen sind der Hammer schlechthin!

Such a lot of interest in the building and they look great on your photographs. The ghost bird one is amazing with just the feet remaining still.
ReplyDeleteThe face and neck are terrific and I like the way you photographed it from different angles so the face changes shape.
Have a great day will email later
Love Chrissie xx

Very nice creation indeed. Lovely photos too!
ReplyDeleteClever take on her eyes. I would never have thought to do that. So, she's having a bad hair day maybe or just has that hard to control curl. I like her. And great views of your town today too.
ReplyDeleteThose eyes!! :))) Made me smile. Very creative!
ReplyDeleteI can relate to a "bad hair day" and those eyes will grab you for sure. Great page for today, Valerie, along with the new photos.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Carolyn

ReplyDeleteYou are so quirky Valerie and I love you for it. Those eyes made me chuckle and her funny curly hair is so cute. Great dimension on the face and neck, with beautiful skin tones. Love your ghost bird shot too. Gosh, you must be a fun person to hang out with.

Hi Valerie, beautiful face. Love the eyes.
ReplyDeleteYour visitors are precious. Great walking pics. Love the chair.
xo
Lovely hair-style! I remember having a perm like that, wash and wear.
ReplyDeleteThe eyes are very amusing.
That's a beautiful orange wall at the flowers shop setting off the plant colours.
Back in the 80s we all had perms like that - ghastly!
DeleteFantastic hair style, I had a curly perm years ago as well.
ReplyDeleteLoved todays photos.

ReplyDeleteHave you ever tried putting a little peanut butter on the bread?
As always wonderful pictures Valerie.
Sandy xx

DeleteHerrlich dein Ghost-Bird! Ulrike
ReplyDeleteVery cool eyes! hahaa I love the bad hair day and still it was love at first sight- was meant to be! ") xo
ReplyDeleteI love her!!! Especially her eyes and hair a very happy lady ♥♥♥♥ The old throw away chair has some interesting appeal... I could use it in my flower bed :) The wild roses here are taking over parts of the woods. I have been cutting back and pulling out tons of them but I just may have to resort to sprays on some as the refuse to go away ... a few are nice but they so become so invasive :(
ReplyDeleteOh that is so clever! I love the idea with the eyes! Love her hair too! Great photos too. So glad you popped over and linked another fab face Valerie, to Show Your Face! And thanks for another shout out too. Kx
ReplyDeleteFun, like her especially longgggggg neck. Nice garden vignette at the end. xox
