Hi Everybody!
Hope you all enjoyed the long weekend.
Today we start a new challenge at Try it on Tuesday - 'Crowning Glory'. You can make whatever you like as long as there is a crown on it. You can see some nice examples on our blog. The challenge runs for 2 weeks, as always, so hope to see you there.
I painted the background of my tag with acrylics and sprinkled it with Frantage EP while it was still wet. I chose roses are they are for me the queen of flowers and deserve a crown. The roses are rub-ons, and have been treated with crackle glaze and antiquing paste. The other roses are the last of my real, dried ones, dipped into white paint and glittered. The wings and crown were also glazed and distressed, as was the butterfly. I mounted the tag onto a second tag made of peeled cardboard, painted with gesso.
I am also linking to Mixed Media Monthly, May flowers.
At Tag Tuesday our new theme is 'Down on the farm'. I used an image from Gecko Galz. I printed the centre part twice, and crackle glazed the top layer. I added a duck pond and the farm dog with some plants along the bottom.
And last but not least, I painted another bottle for Moo Mania and More. I worked on black gesso mixed with a little blue for the background, and drew the bottle with pastel chalks. The photos are not very good as I took them by electric light, which alters the colours.
This one was digitally altered
I had lots of feathered visitors today. The jays are my most frequent visitors:
But the magpie came by for a hand out, too:
The pigeon sat a long time in the tree watching before she decided to come for a visit.
By the time she got here, the bird seed had been eaten. I told her to sit still and I would get her a slice of bread.
She let me take her photos, and then flew off with the whole slice of bread in her beak - too funny!
Have a good day you all, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!
Valerie, I hope you are feeling a lot better today. Your Tuesday projects are exceptional! Hate to see the end of your dried roses as they have added so much to your projects. The photos of the birds are terrific -- so clear and bright. We had more rain today so what started out as a bright sunshine day ended in clouds and rain. Of course, it is still Monday here so perhaps Tuesday will return the sunshine. Take care of yourself. Don't like to read that you are not feeling tops.

ReplyDeleteWOW WOW WOW, Loving your crown creation Valerie!! It's such a wonderful garden scene and that butterfly is stunning! Love all your artwork today! May I please ask what crackle product you use over your images and on your butterflies...it must be clear but it doesn't seem to me glossy like mine?? hugs :)

Deleteyou can delete this comment Valerie. just wanted to let you know that you have the challenge theme for Mixed Media Monthly as vintage garden, but their theme is actually May Flowers...not sure if they would disqualify you for that, but maybe change it just in case? hugs :)

ReplyDeleteThis is a lovely tag. The butterfly and the rose just add so much to the composition. I really like your backgrounds, the crackle effect is great. The birds are pretty good as well
ReplyDeleteWow- you've been busy! Nice work too. Would have loved to see the dove/pigeon take off with a whole slice of bread in its mouth. Must have been fun to see.
ReplyDeleteLots of gorgeousness to feast my eyes on here today, my friend. Great tags. I love the first because of its colour, texture, but the rose and butterfly really stole the show for me.
ReplyDeleteAren't pigeons lovely? I always get a thrill when they lift off, revealing the white backs under their wings.
Blessings on your day!

HI Valerie, love the flower tag, so pretty and such a lovely idea of using real dried roses.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos of your little visitors, even the greedy one!
Avril xx
I've been sitting here entranced by both your tags.
ReplyDeleteWondering how you made the butterfly. And glad to see corrugated cardboard again (unless I missed it). And marvelling at your farm tag with the duck pond and the fellow at the top, the blue metallic roses....
I still think of your table as a magical area where the necessary bits float down as you think of them.
We've got wood pigeons too, they're large birds but very gentle birds. I can just see him waiting patiently until you came back with the bread.
My table has a special magic - it throws up things you thought were long lost, and relentlessly hides things I need!
DeleteGorgeous tags Valerie and I think I love the first one best as the texture and colours look just amazing.
ReplyDeleteLove your photos too.
Fliss xx
