A mixed media tag book and a sea scene

Hi Everybody!

I was happy to be able to get out and about again today after being stuck indoors for a few days - I need the great outdoors!

Today I have 2 pieces to share. The first is a mixed media Tag book made a couple of weeks back. The pages were covered with some DP that I have had in my stash for a long time. The head was made in a mold, given a coat of rust paint, and then embossed with Frantage aged gold and a layer of crackle glaze. The butterfly got a similar treatment. I distressed them both with antiquing paste from Deco Art Media. The front and back covers  were embossed with Frantage gold around the edges, and then covered with gilding flakes in autumn gold. I wanted it to look like an old garden with a statue. For the inside pages I printed out copies of some of the portraits I painted earlier this year, all copied from Modigliani. I did the edging in the same way as the front and back covers. I just used a few fibres in coordinating colours as embellishments. I am linking to Anything but cute, vintage garden. I had fun making this project!

This painting is one I made for Art Journal Journey, the sea. I was not happy with it, the lighthouse is wonky and the seal looks like a monster from the deep - but I tried!

The 'kids' were back again today, always peeking out from between the flowers:

I met the thirsty horses on my walk:

This is one of my fave corners in our little town:

Have a great day you all, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!

  3. Your tag book is gorgeous. I love the metallic edging on the pages. And I don't mind your lighthouse page. The seal might be a bit big but he's certainly no sea monster. Hope your weather holds so you can get back outside. I know what you mean about wanting to be outside.

I think you are too self critical over that light house piece, I think the "wonkyness" actually looks fun! Stunning photos like always too!

  12. Cute tag book! When I first looked at the second horse photo, I thought there was something hanging in the tree...until I enlarged it and saw it was another horse!

I like the seaside one--I thought the seal looked cute, not scary!
