Hi everybody!
It's weekend, so hope you all have a restful and creative time.
We had cool but nice weather here today, so I enjoyed my walks, and it was a bit warmer in the afternoon.
I still seem to be on my autumn/trees/leaves/ little beings trip, so here is the next offering, a journal page. I sprayed an A3 page with home made blue and green inks, and then used just under half of it for this painting. I daubed the water-colours (thanks again Chrissie) directly onto the paper, using orange, brown and yellow, and a liberal portion of fairy dust. I used some of the super bronze gilding flakes that Sandy recently sent me to make the little leaves on the tree and fluttering down. The little elf is from the autumn flower fairies, and the rabbit, of course, from Beatrix Potter. The little birds were stamped with scraps of brown paper from an old envelope using a Martha Stewart punch. I have forgotten from whom the quote is, if anyone knows, please tell me! I am linking to Art Journal journey, living beings; Mix it Monthly, trees and Craftroom Challenge, something old, something new. (New paints and gilding flakes, old images and recycled paper)

The ducks came waddling up to see if I had any food, so I shared some bread with them.
The horses were calm and contented as always.
The sun was sparkling on the lake this afternoon.
And I love this large, rusty rose on the old gates to the hospital park:
There are a lot of stones and huge pieces of brick and mortar walls down on the shore underneath the castle. There were a lot of battles to take control of the castle in the course of history, and the walls were breached with cannons.
Some of these stones were evidently cut, so were perhaps part of door frames or arches:
Have a great weekend, take good care of yourselves,
and thanks a lot for coming by!

ReplyDeleteThis is really a great page...a beautiful illustration! The tree looks fantastic with the bronze gilding flakes and I also love the colours and cute images. The fabulous quote I think is a Chinese Proverb.

So schön für einen Herbsttag, der noch alle Optionen hat. Ich wünsche Dir jeden Tag einen kleinen Vogel, der Dir von schönen Dingen singt, Dich erfreut.

Your posts are NEVER boring!! I may not get here everyday, but I never regret my visit. To start, your tree page is totally gorgeous. One of my favourites, and I think because of how you did the tree. Inspired!
ReplyDeleteYour 'walk' photos are always so well composed and clear and the interesting, 'facty' type, bits you add are an added bonus and make it all such a pleasure to view. Thank you. ((hugs)) xox
ps - please would you tell me what you did to make your, 'My Blog List' section, active? xo
I have mailed you!

ReplyDeleteStunning page, Valerie! You have such nice handwriting. Hope you have a nice weekend.
ReplyDeleteMagical art work, Valerie and beautiful outdoor photos. Thank you for taking me for a walk :)
ReplyDeleteAutumn is beautiful through your art. I do not get autumn because of our high temps and the type of trees (Palm) we have. I have to enjoy it through photos and artwork. Your ducks are different than mine (thanks for the visit) but I do have brown ducks too. Love the photos, they are treasures. Blessings, Janet PPF

ReplyDeleteAnother fairy page and a sweet bunny too. Soon your horses will be leaving for their winter quarters and you will miss them. xox
ReplyDeleteGorgeous fall colors on your fairy page. Makes me want to walk right into the story. :)
ReplyDeleteOh this is lovely, such rich colours. You can definitely fee Autumn creeping in here xx
ReplyDeleteHi Valerie, such gorgeous works of art. Love the verse on this page with the tree. So special!! Your walking pics are so interesting. The horses must be enjoying the autumn and the ducks are always so sweet.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day,
Hugs
I absolutely love your stylized tree - beautiful! I don't know where the quote comes from but I do love it!
ReplyDeleteYour fairy is perfect for this composition.
Why shouldn't the horses be content - looks to me like they are well fed and have wonderful shade to get them out of the sun and some protection from the rain. And if you don't mind me saying, they drink, eat, rest, poop and pee at leisure. They don't worry about social conventions.
I love the pictures of the old stones and bricks with the moss on them. I love your walks! In fact, I quite envy them!
Sandy xx
You are soooo right, those horses have a wonderful life!
DeleteI forgot to tell you how beautiful your background is - really gorgeous!
