Hi everybody!
Thanks for all the kind wishes for my sore throat, and I think it is a tad better, so let's hope it keeps going that way! I had a restful day yesterday, well, not exactly restful, but a bit quieter than usual!
By the way, two weeks ago I promised 3 ladies who commented on my blog in a certain time room a little 'Nettigkeit' - kindness, a sort of pay it forward or RAK, whatever! I chose three out of the hat, and sent the surprises off on Monday. One has already arrived in Germany, and the other 2 are on their way to the States and Scotland....
My thoughts are much inspired by autumn just now, there are lots of beautiful leaves, horse-chestnuts, acorns and pine-cones to be picked up and gathered outside, and it is for me a very inspiring time of the year. I have tried to recreate a picture I made a few years back, and gave away. I used leaves I collected to make stencils for drawing the leaves, and cut them out of scrap cardboard, so I can use them again. They are all life size. The background of diagonal stripes (15" x 19")was painted with acrylics mixed with a glitter glaze which I got recently at the Euro shop. The glaze can be used alone, or can be mixed with colours. I Painted diagonally working from the corner with red, yellow, orange and rust. When it was dry, I used the leaf stencils to draw the leaves, and painted them with matte black gesso, to make a nice contrast to the glittery background.I outlined the leaves with a gold gel-pen. I cut a panel out of the middle, which I will use as a background for something else. The tree fairy image in the centre is from Gecko Galz, and has also been glazed with the glitter stuff, and mounted onto coordinating matting. I was pleased with the result, and have it hanging here as an autumn decoration.
I am linking to Paint Party Friday, and to Art Journal Journey, living beings, and Mix it Monthly, trees.
As always I visited the horses - they are on my way to and from the Rhine, and this one loves carrots....

This flower is good 3 metres high, growing in the 'jungle' along the banks:
A typical weather picture yesterday, blue sky and huge towers of clouds:
Have a great day you all, take care,

You must have a beautiful home (or at least kitchen!) with all of your artwork displayed. The background on the Autumn Fairy is especially gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI love this beautiful autumn woman! Wonderful pictures of horses!

ReplyDeleteThe colors in your autumn frame match perfectly with the insert image. It certainly makes a lovely piece to hang on the wall for the fall season. Love the photos as well. There are some interesting ships that go up and down the Rhine. The Diva one is so sleek and modern looking.
ReplyDeleteHugs,

glad to hear you're feeling better. Your painting is really striking! And, I wish I had horses to feed along a walk. However, I do take doggie treats whenever I go out:)
ReplyDeleteMore gorgeous autumn colors. Hope you are better soon.
ReplyDeletelooks like yellow coneflower. Beautful fall art today, have fun collecting...
ReplyDeleteThis is just lovely Valerie, it reminds me of one of my favourite childhood books, Flower Fairies of the Autumn by Cicely Mary Barker. Thanks again for your RAK! Mwah! xx
ReplyDeleteI love her books and illustrations, too - I have one of her characters on my next piece!
ReplyDeleteGreat art again!!!! You how much I love all of your photos!!! My travel album abroad. Love ya and glad your throat is on the mend.
ReplyDeleteGosh, what a very striking picture that is. Beautiful colours and the glittery parts are so lovely in their Autumnal colours. I like your idea of drawing around the leaves to make stencils and the contrast of the black and gold is very cool. That 'Diva' boat is very unusual in shape, Is it a cruise/holiday boat, or touristy type boat? I like that you feed the horses, I'd be too scared of those enormous teeth that they have, haha.
ReplyDeleteHope your throat continues to get better and you have a great weekend ((hugs)) xox
I think it's one of the super New river cruise boats - not for my pocket money! Thanks for the good wishes!
DeleteHi Valerie, once again you create the most wonderful art work!! Love your autumn inspiration. Lovely walking pics and that blue sky is gorgeous. Such regal hose shots too.
ReplyDeleteGlad your throat is a bit better. Hope you continue to improve!!
Have a great weekend.
Hugs
Ich liebe dieses Bild. Es wird noch betont durch den "Rahmen" in diesen brennenden Farben! Deine Spaziergänge genieße ich mittlerweile sehr!

ReplyDeleteAutumn fairies have invaded us here too. Quite chilly this morning and raining later. But with this sweet gal and her leaves a blowing, Autumn will be lovely. xox
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful Valerie, and your laughing horse made me laugh too! I hope your throat is better now xx
ReplyDeleteBeautifully done Valerie, that is the most wonderful and beautiful image.
ReplyDeleteI did get tickled seeing the piece of carrot in the horse's mouth.
Sandy xx
That horse was having a good chuckle at getting the most carrots!
