Hi everybody!
At Tag Tuesday our theme this week is the 'Roaring Twenties'.
At Tag Tuesday our theme this week is the 'Roaring Twenties'.
The
roaring twenties always brings to mind the pictures of the flapper
girls, feather boas and suavely dressed men in elegant cars, although
for many in Europe and from the end of the decade in America it was a time of grinding poverty after
the First World War, when those with no money fought to exist.

The tag I have made shows the other side, I just wanted to remind us that not everybody was part of this superficial glamour world.
I
have used an image from gecko Galz, a pink feather (so hard to stick
down!) and some beaded fringing over some long fringes from an old
stole.
At Try It On Tuesday our theme for the next two weeks is 'Home is where your heart is'.
I have made a little canvas, treated with structure paste and painted with various metallic paints. The little house has been stamped. I gave it a layer of cheap, clear glue, and threw lots of beads and gem stones onto it.

Have a good week you all, take care, and thanks for looking!

Both pieces are gorgeous. I saw the lovely tag over at TT, and the canvas is so pretty with all the beads and metallic background. Have a lovely day, hugs, Sarah
ReplyDeleteWonderful tag Valerie and the canvas is full of richness both in colour and images. I bet it it felt wonderful to throw jewels at the glue :)
ReplyDeleteHave a great day

It's always wonderful throwing jewels around!
DeleteThis is a gorgeous tag, I love all the extras you have added to it.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to have seen how many beads you had sticking to your fingers! Two beautiful pieces Valerie. Have a nice day - I'm off for a deep tissue massage - ouch! Xx
ReplyDeleteIt did look a bit like some strange beady skin-defect! Have fun (?) at the massage!
DeleteLove the fringe on the flapper girls! That must have been some stole! All the sparkles on the other piece are pure fun - love the little house. hugs, Donna
ReplyDeleteGreat tag, love the fringe. Your little castle is so cute.

You're on a roll with the beads! Love the fringe for the flappers and your textured canvas.
ReplyDeleteLove the bead work! The flappers are certainly from a gorgeous time and your canvas is luscious and so detailed! We sometimes forget how good we have it! Enjoy the week! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteLoving your flappers and great beaded canvas Valerie, Hugs Annette x
ReplyDeleteBoth of these are gorgeous Valerie! The feather and fringe are perfect for that image too, you really pulled it all together! ~Diane

DeleteLovely tag with the fine ladies, such a contrast to the first picture. It was the same in history lessons at school, mostly about Kings and Queens and politicians. I like your bright and shiny little picture too.
ReplyDeleteAn era that fascinates me but I suppose the same with the Victorian era, wonderful if you are part of the privileged and elite but not so wonderful if you are living at the opposite end.
ReplyDeleteSuch a fabulous tag.
Wishes
Lynne
Wonderful tag, loved the way you told us about the other side of the story.
ReplyDeleteFabulous canvas, great textures. Think the beads look awesome.
