Hi you all! It has started thawing here, but the snow hasn't gone yet. The rain falling on top of it has turned it into a sheet of uneven ice, very unpleasant to walk on. My walk today was rather shorter than usual, it was just very strenuous balancing over the ice and trying to tread into the foot prints others had left to make the going a bit safer!
This piece is for two challenges, At Fashionable Stamping Challenges the ladies want to see some love shown, and at Sugar Creek Hollow they want to see lots of layers. The background of my hanging has been made from cardboard - partly peeled, gessoed, and embossed and stamped with Utee gold. I used various papers for matting. The background for my tag has been distressed with Antique Linen and Vintage Photo DIs, and stamped in Adirondack Espresso with my 'love' script stamp and some flourishes. The tag has been stamped with the same colour, and matted onto 2 layers of bronze and brown paper. I added some ribbon and lace in coordinating colours, and a stick-pin.

The second piece is a tag made for the 'Clocks' challenge at Out of a Hat Creations.
The cardboard tag has once again been peeled, gessoed and 'gold plated'. I stamped various clocks onto my background paper. The small clocks, also stamped, have been mounted onto painted and distressed jigsaw puzzle pieces. The skull is a reminder that clocks count the hours, days and years that pass so quickly. The winged clock, and the other stamps used are all from Paper Artsy, and the clocks here have been fussy cut and glazed. The little brass charm says 'Life is measured by moments'.
I think that was enough for today! If it's still icy where you live, take care! Have fun, and thanks a lot for visiting!
Oooh, Val, these are all gorgeous! Lovely work, as always! Hugs, Sarah
ReplyDeleteWonderful work on the card Valerie. I just love the way you have used the lace it looks so special
ReplyDeleteWell now to the tag- I just love everything about it but the jigsaw pieces in the delicious colour are a feast for the eyes. Fantastic that ypu made it for our challenge at the Hatters -it is always good to have you join in with us.
I used to be terriified of slipping on the ice but now i have a pair of pull on spikes that fit all if my shoes or boots-they have changed my life lol
Take care
Love Chrissie xxx
Oh, I think the second one is my new favorite, LOL! The turquoise just makes it pop! Be careful on your walks. It snowed all day here today, but only amounted to an inch or so. The rain/sleet that is on the way will make it treacherous!
ReplyDeleteOoooo Valerie, those are both wonderful creations. I just love the "gold plated" backgrounds and I just love the clock tag the turquoise is fab. We have had a quick thaw snow now all gone thank goodness. Take care. Hugs Sandra X
ReplyDeleteYou have been busy Valerie. Both really gorgeous creations and love all the texture and embellishing.

Would be hard to pick a favorite - the clocks are so much fun. I adore what the gold utee does for things - however I am refraining from purchasing any - although I drool over yours. Great stuff, Valerie. hugs, Donna

Apologies for my 'senior' perception in my post Valerie, the other night M and I were commenting on this 'older' couple we saw somewhere and then we realized we were probably older than them!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous, Valerie!
ReplyDeleteThese are both stunning Valerie! So thoughtful and meaningful, I love all the details in the layering, not just card stock layers but layers of stamps and embellishments, these are really well done, you are totally back on the very top of your game girl! ~Diane
