This week our theme over at Tag Tuesday is Theatre and Cinema. I decided to make a little tag theatre, a dimensional tag. It is 51/2" high and 3" wide. I used a large matchbox. The stage is the inside drawer of the box. I cut through the middle of the sleeve and folded the flaps outwards to form the wings, and then stuck the parts together. I painted inside with acrylic paint, and the front of the theatre is an image from the Graphics fairy, scaled down to fit the box- I cut the centre part of the image away, glued the wings to the sides, and let the musicians curve out into the auditorium. I cut away part of the top part of the curtains so as it just to make it curve a little. I pasted an image from Gecko Galz to form the backdrop, and then gave it all 2 coats of water based varnish. My characters are Charlie Chaplin and Dan Leno. They have also been cut out, varnished and stuck to the background with foam squares. Dan Leno, who first appeared on the stage at the age of 4, was THE music hall artiste, comical actor and pantomime star in the second half of the 19th century, and the best paid actor of his time. He was even honoured by the then King, Edward VII, and asked to do a private performance in his palace. He would certainly have been a role model for the young Charlie Chaplin. They were both born into abject poverty, and made it right to the top.
This was fun to make! Have a good day you all, and thanks for visiting!
