Friday post

Hi Everybody!
It's cold here and getting colder, I need a hot-water bottle to warm by bed and my feet each night, and if it gets even colder then I will need 2 hot-water bottles. Or perhaps 3....

Today I have another snowy piece for Jo's  snowy winter challenge at AJJ. This is a hybrid piece put together using 2 photos and some digital elements:

And for Nicole's Friday Face Off (FFO) I am showing some of the faces made during the Lifebook sessions and  free lessons from other artists:

And I am also linking to Gillena's Friday art fun.

And some thinkies / funnies:

Have a great day, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!

  1. I never done a face and or portrait, actual they scare me. Maybe I should challenge my self and give it a try. Who know how it will turn out.

  6. Your poem is beautiful and that child looks really cold as she lights the darkness. This is a fabulous entry for Jo's theme at AJJ and I love that you used your own photos.

As always, I love your faces. They are all so different, too. It shows you were inspired by each teacher in the taster series.

I love your thinkies. I remember your AJJ theme "when one door closes, another opens." I saw something yesterday you would like. When one door closes, another opens, when another door opens, etc. The joke was this was an advent calendar, but I can't find where I got it. Maybe Christine, but I simply don't remember. Stress affects my memory (recall). Have a super Friday, dear and thanks for linking me.

  7. That is quite an array of faces, Valerie, proof that your art classes produced good results. I had not heard of hot water bottles in years! I was about to ask if you can still buy them, but if you have them the answer is obviously, "Yes". When I was a kid we sometimes used one and also wrapped a hot brick in a cloth and used that to warm the bed. These days I seem to stay toasty and warm, and we keep our room temperature pretty modest too. We have a good blanket and a quilt on the bed so that doubtless helps. Two people in a bed keeps it warmer than one too. See, there's the answer - invite a man and you'll be as warm as can be! I am always pleased to furnish good advice! Hugs and kisses - David

    1. Thanks for the good advice, now all I need to do is to find a man to cuddle and keep warm with! You always have the best suggestions! Hot water bottled are old fashioned here, too, but you can still buy them. And mine all have pretty covers like pullovers! I have an electric blanket, too, but prefer my hot water bottles which I can cuddle. Perhaps I could pin an ad in the local supermarket to look for a man intead of my hot water bottle! But perhaps I'll just stick to my old fashioned bed warmers! Big hugs! xx

  8. That's a lovely hybrid journal page. I love the delicate feel of the frost you added. Our winter is arriving late for us here, but it's been chilly. They say that by the end of next week there will be a big weather change, so I am guessing it means snow. We've had dustings, but nothing substantial yet. And that's a great collection of faces. It is fun to see them again. And I like your thinkies/funnies. You always find good ones. Happy FRiday and start to your weekend. hugs-Erika

  9. I've been taking a microwave beanbag to bed with me for a foot warmer too. And we don't even have snow yet (coming today --which reminds me, I need to get out early before it hits). I like your cow and other faces! Have a fun weekend!

  19. I love your page and the faces are quite amazing. I still have two hot water bottles from Germany and sometimes I still use them. I don't really liketo be cold, but we keep our room temperature quite moderate, so I pull on a sweater or a warm cardigan and warm socks that I knited. Our bedroom is always quite cool since we both don't like to sleep in warm rooms - I sleep under two blankets in the winter. Have a lovely weekend, Valerie.

  20. Great thinkies/funnies you have for us today and I must say I do like the journal page you have for us. It's a lovely picture of darkness and light, you have captured it perfectly.
I use a gel bottle for my back when it is bad and it gets used in bed for my feet as well, well the one I have in case the other ever gives up. So two in total. I have such poor circulation my feet are always cold.
    Take care
