Today I have another A3 painting for Erika's let's face it challenge at AJJ. This piece was inspired by one of Effy Wild's journal 52 lessons:

    I love those 2 faces together. I also like how you made their noses. That might sound strange but I've been looking at how people do that in order to try to improve my own face making.     Ah Valerie, another two gorgeous creations to start my day. From birds to maidens, from young sprites to sultry sirens, from femme fatale to floozy, you can be counted on to bring early morning joy. I love them all. Unlike Erika, the doyenne of New Hampshire, I was not focused on their noses, but it just shows you the different perspectives we have. We will both have to check Erika's next renderings of physiognomies, paying extra attention to the schnozzes to see if she has retuned her technique. Rhinoplasty on paper it seems to me. The Japanese Garden is truly lovely. It is quite amazing really to see how they have been installed in so many cities around the world. There is a becalming quality to them, and not just for the people of Japan. There is something quite universal about it. To answer your question yesterday, I have not led a single bird walk this week, though Miriam and I have been out and about. It has been quite cold. Yesterday it was minus ten when we promenaded through Hillside Park. On Tuesday a cavalcade of hardy birders will be following me to Long Point on the shore of Lake Erie, one of our great inland seas, when we shall see what delights the winter has brought. Be on your best behaviour at the clinic. I have asked them to send me a weekly report! Hugs and kisses. David

      Hi David, I'm glad you are enjoying the girls I provide for your early morning delight each day! And this time, as it's weekend, two! There is a large Japanese community in Düsseldorf, I think the largest in Europe, and the Japanese garden was a present to the town from the Japanese people. It is a lovely place to sit and rest and read a book. Today I had a nice walk down to the Rhine, although it's very cold and windy, and some of the paths were icy. Good that I had my good boots on! Minus 10 sounds dreadful, I think I would stay here if it gets that cold. Have fun with your birders at Lake Erie, dress up nice and warm! I am always on my best behaviour, so the clinic will be able to praise me. At least it's nice and warm in here, and not so draughty as my apartment!´Have a great weekend, look after Miriam! Hugs!

    Two lovely wistful faces for us today. I love the colouring on these two and what always strikes me with your portraits is the hair. There is something about the way you do the hair that I like and I am sure it says something.
    Lovely sky photographs which I am sure you can use for inspiration as the colours are magnificent. Also the Japanese garden, somewhere I always enjoy visiting if I find there is one somewhere. I once had grand ideas about making a hidden section of our garden Japanese, 20+ years on and it is still an idea.
