Rain' s Thursday Art Date - Halloween

 Hi Everybody!

Rain's theme today is Halloween, so I dug out some of my Halloween pieces from previous years - enjoy!

A Halloween album made some years back:

These 2 pictures are from Pexels:

And 2 poems if you like poetry:

Song of the Witches: “Double, double toil and trouble”

(from Macbeth)

Double, double toil and trouble;
Fire burn and caldron bubble.
Fillet of a fenny snake,
In the caldron boil and bake;
Eye of newt and toe of frog,
Wool of bat and tongue of dog,
Adder's fork and blind-worm's sting,
Lizard's leg and howlet's wing,
For a charm of powerful trouble,
Like a hell-broth boil and bubble.

Double, double toil and trouble;
Fire burn and caldron bubble.
Cool it with a baboon's blood,
Then the charm is firm and good.

"This living hand, now warm and capable"

This living hand, now warm and capable
Of earnest grasping, would, if it were cold
And in the icy silence of the tomb,
So haunt thy days and chill thy dreaming nights
That thou would wish thine own heart dry of blood
So in my veins red life might stream again,
And thou be conscience-calm’d–see here it is–
I hold it towards you.
Have a great day, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!

  13. You have indisputably reached the pinnacle of fame, Valerie, when you have a retrospective, as you have here, where people can gaze admiringly on your life's work. Obviously, your Halloween period has been very fruitful, and stands out as a defining example, of what should scare the bejeebers out of everyone when witches ride and hobgoblins shriek. Hopefully, the huge orange hobgoblin in the White House will shriek no more soon. Out with the dark side and in with the light! I think that most people are familiar with the MacBeth incantations, but perhaps, like me, the Keats verse was previously unknown - and chilling it is too! Thanks for sharing this. It's easy to see that you are not just a pretty paint smoosher! And on top of all of this, you are Balconia-by-the-Rhine's pre-eminent ornithologist, discovering hitherto unknown birds. They can transplant just about everything these days. Maybe I can get a Tups brain and then I'll be all set! Enjoy what remains of the week. I hope the sun shines, the walks are pleasant, the coffee hot and you sleep well. Ever your devoted admirer from afar. David

    1. Thanks David, I hope you are now suitable scared and shivering in your woolen socks and felt slippers! But don't worry, this is just a preview, they won't be here till Saturday night! From Monday on we will all be in lockdown here. I would like to see the orange horror of the White House put in permanent lockdown. Or exiled and dumped at the Mexican border to ask for asylum there. I hope Karma will be painting her nails and finishing her drink so she can come get him soon! I love that Keats poem, chilling in a calm and sinister way! Just got back from my walk - the sun is shining and it was cold and crisp - so now it's coffee and newspaper time! Have a great day, take care, stay safe, hugs to you both!
