42 and beyond

Hi Everybody!

Hope your week has been good so far. We are still having erratic weather here - one moment blue skies and sunshine, then storms, then cold and wet - well, at least it's not boring!

I have another tag for my 'beverages' challenge at Tag Tuesday, and this time it's not coffee! I used a hand-painted background and a free image from the internet. The text was made with Serif:

And for all those hitchhiking through the galaxy, I found some more 42s - perhaps you will find the solution at one of them. Some were collected by Harry in his home town, he has been infected with the look-for-42s-bug:

This one is interesting - the sign at the bottom says 'Chance for a future':

Last weekend I was in Duisburg and took photos and a video of the lifesaver Fountain from Niki de Saint Phalle :

And one of my pieces inspired by Niki de Saint Phalle:

I am linking to Paint Party Friday

Some more pics from Duisburg:

Have a great day, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!

  2. Hi Val! This is such a totally fun and enjoyable post. I keep meaning to look for 42s here, but then my thoughts get captured by aliens and I forget! Love your gorgeous tag, so summery, and the wonderful big and beautiful bathing belles, so colourful, just WOW! And very fitting here together with the Niki de Saint Phalle fountain, what an eye-catcher that is! I didn't realise Duisburg had such treasures, the other fountains are great, too. Have a nice afternoon, it's pouring here. Hugs, Sarah

  5. What a pretty drink! Now, if I can just find a cheap martini glass that's not so big I could swim in it ;) I'm headed to IKEA, I think :)

I'm filled with envy for all your 2-digit house numbers. What fun! Thanks for sharing these :) That huge, colorful fountain is delightful. Such a change from the boring gray pieces I see here. I love the art you were inspired to create. I feel like joining their dance :)

These other sculptures are striking, and I'd love sitting where I could see and hear that fountain. It feels like I've been on a virtual outing. Thank you :)

  7. Great mix of artwork and photos. That fountain is vibrant, as is the art it inspired you to create. I like the architecture photos. I'll have to try to remember to keep an eye out for 42 when I'm out taking photos.

  8. LOVE your tag. Different from your usual coffee inspired tags. I love it.

Gorgeous art and sculptures, and of course, great finds of the number 42. sorry this is short. I'm out the door now.

  11. I think I would much rather live in one of those charming older spots than a new flat that wasn't nearly so unique! I love all the pics on your walk today and it's fun to see where you lived. I also think it's great that Harry is the kind of walking partner who is patient with your photography and even does some himself!

  19. I simply HAD to come back and look more closely at the art and sculpture of Niki de Saint Phalle. Your wonderful images of Phalle's work always amazes me. This is such a beautiful area, too. Many of the sculptures are simply AWESOME.

Sorry I had to run earlier, but I had to be out the door and had already stayed far too long reading your brilliant post and admiring the great art you shared. One of my favorite blog banners is back, too, I see!

  22. Nice tag Valerie. I could use that now (even if it isn't even quite 11 yet and I am procrastinating at my desk at work) as these school days wrap up and a few parents gets a little over zealous. Grrr. And that fountain is something else. The feet have such sharp claws. But it is fun and powerful and thanks for sharing. And I love looking for certain things and you are having fun with your 42 search. And successful too! Happy Thursday. Hugs-Erika

  30. Wow, lots of stuff to see here today. Your "celebrate summer" tag really does look summery. (I wonder why people don't have drinks that pretty in the middle of winter, when they could really use a cheerful splash of pretty...?) Talking about cheerful, that fountain is some kinda cheerful and whimsical. My German grandmother led me to believe Germans were typically stern-faced and a bit on the dour side. I think she may have been pulling my little girl leg... :)

    Have a wonderful weekend!

  45. Fabulous art outdoors amongst your photos here - so many blue skies too, which makes it look as though you've had much better weather than us... very cold, very wet, very grey. First signs of sun today, but still not very warm... sigh! Whereas my mother in the Czech Republic says it's too hot to move outdoors!!

Love your tropical looking cocktail, but I'm going to have to wait for some warmer weather to drink it. The dancing women are absolutely delightful (I think they've had a cocktail or two, or maybe they're just high on life) and, as a huge Hitchhikers fan, I love all the 42s, thank you!
