Hi Everybody!
Here's wishing us all a great new week and a wonderful April. The month has started off sunny here, let's hope it keeps up! I have been walking a lot this past week, even more than usual, managing about 15 kilometers each day, and on one day 22 kilometers, so that was good. I will show some of my pics later in the post.
For my challenge at Tag Tuesday, in which sadly so few people have joined in up till now, I have another tag. I hope more people will take the hint and join in! The background here has been painted, dripped, stenciled and collaged. The 'tree' was added with some dried vines collected on my walks. I sewed it to the coordinating matting. I am also linking to Simon Monday challenge, play with paint:
Tuesday is Elizabeth's T stands for Tuesday, so here a warm welcome to all the lovely ladies of the T Gang. Tomorrow is also her 2nd on the 2nd so I will be posting that piece here, too.
A buddy brought me this little espresso coaster and cup this week:
I got these 2 Miro mugs at the thrift store for one Euro each, still in their original boxes, so a great bargain:
Don't be shocked, the tea and mineral water were my buddy Harry's choices at the ice parlour where we took a break from walking:
Fresh peppermint tea
I had my cappuccino as always, extra strong, as I like it!
This is my piece for 2nd on the 2nd, posted originally back in 2012:
And now some pics from my walks. On Friday we took the ferry over to the other side. It's only a few hundred meters, but always like a little holiday, and when you cross over you are even in a different town:
Telling car drivers to put their brakes on:
Wonderful views of our little town:
I don't have many photos of myself, as I usually hide behind my camera:
Harry admiring the view:
wonderful, fresh spring-green:
And what can you see in this tree?
Have a great day, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!
Good morning Val! Another gorgeous post, love the wonderful tag, and all of the lovely photos. Great to see a photo of you this time, too. Glad you enjoyed a little 'holiday' on the other side of the Rhine, you had great weather, too. Have a fun day and a very happy April! Hugs, Sarah
ReplyDeleteYour tag and profile painting is beautiful and vibrant! Great thrift shop finds, they look like comfortable handled mugs, spring has well and truly found you!
ReplyDeleteGreat to see you around again!
DeleteHi Valerie wow that is a lot of walking ,well done my friend it's something that I need to do more off.
ReplyDeleteI love your tag as usual I hope more people join in,your pics are amazing that you for sharing with us xx
Fun filled post today, beautiful photo of you Valerie! Jealous of your walks, have not been out much this past winter. Beautiful work.
ReplyDeleteOh I see a bunny in that tree for sure.
ReplyDeleteSo do I!
DeleteYour tag is wonderful. I had intended to make one sooner. Now I will have to figure a way to incorporate one in my recycling efforts this next week. Yours is beautiful. I always love sewing, so this made my day.
ReplyDeleteBefore I forget, I adore your new blog banner. It goes nicely with your theme at Tag Tuesday, too.
I LOVE those Miro mugs. If you do an internet search of Wichita University art, you will see a HUGE mural by Miro that resembles one of the figure in the left mug you purchased. We also have a Miro sculpture which is black. I had never heard of Miro until I moved to Wichita and saw that mural he created for the side of the building. Those mugs alone are perfect for T this Tuesday, but I was also enamored by the beautiful tea pot your friend had. Thanks for sharing both for T this Tuesday.
I didn't know you back in 2012, but I feel like I remember that gorgeous watercolor drawing you created back then. It's almost deja vu. It's a beauty and a lovely second look for the 2nd of the month.
I really like that photo of you. Your friend captured a great shot. It was good to see your little town from the other side of the river. It's wonderful to see all those places you visit spread out along the length of the river like that. Hope you are doing better, too.
That should have read "Wichita State University art." I believe there is a Wichita Falls Uni in Texas which sometimes comes up in internet searches of WSU.
ReplyDeleteI will Look IT Up, I love Miro
DeleteIt makes me very happy to see your face, Valerie! Gives me context for the woman who does the wonderful art! And what a setting for a photo -- you have loads of beautiful territory. I'm pressed with your 15k a day! And more! And your Miro mugs made me smile. I think I would have to get those, too!
ReplyDeleteI don't do tags, but I do enjoy seeing the creative works of those who participate in this. I love your texture and incorporation of natural elements and color and quote in your piece here. Your Miro mugs were quite the find, and how fun to come across them like that. We don't have a ferry anywhere near us, but I've been on a few and it makes an entirely new experience out of the drive. :) Happy T Day!
ReplyDeleteThe tag is wonderful. I love how things go off the page. Your Miro mugs are so happy. I enjoyed the ferry ride. That willow sure is spring green. And in the last picture I see a duck, a rabbit, a dog, and a goat. Enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteI only see the duck and the bunny, it's always fun to see what others see!
DeleteWow this is packed full great things-Loved your tag-I am really enjoying seeing this theme for the tags. great finds-love those cups, enjoyed your photos-I always do-I loved seeing you too-I never show myself much either. and I enjoyed your repost which I had not seen before.
ReplyDeleteHappy t day and second on the 2nd
I love the sentiment on your beautiful bird tag and the fantastic new blog banner you have added today.
ReplyDeleteAll your photos from the walks are lovely and I think I can see a rabbits head in the tree bark. It was also good to see you on one of your photos, I avoid being in a photo as well.
The new cups look so colourful and were a bargain price.
Happy T day wishes Valerie.
Yvonne xx
Yes, it really looks like a rabbit!
Sabine

ReplyDeleteWould love to see you there!
DeleteHi Valerie, your art work is beautiful, so colourful, I love them.
ReplyDeleteYour town is very pretty, we have been on quite a few small ferries in South of England, also in the Isle of Wight they have a chain ferry but getting on to it from a steep ramp was quite scary.
I think you had a bargain with those mugs, they are really bright and cheery.
Enjoy the rest of the week

Your tag is lovely. I'm struggling with artist's block, but I hope to come up with something for the challenge before the two weeks are over. You're doing a great job walking. That's good exercise. ReplyDeleteA lovely walk, Valerie. I am so glad that you shared a picture of yourself. I too love having an idea of what the blogger looks like while reading their words. I see a rabbit with floppy ears in the tree.

Lovely to see you popping up in amongst the pictures (but I'm like you, I don't like being in front of the camera so much), and the close-up of the tree at the end is one of my favourite photos here ever!
