Hi Everybody!
Today it's time for Elizabeth's 2nd on the 2nd and for Paint Party Friday.
I am re-showing 2 A3 mixed media pieces. The background in both was painted and the central part was collaged out of various photos and copies of painted pieces. The 'self-portrait' is the one I use for my avatar, although my hair is longer these days and I've got new glasses:
Here the background was painted and stamped. The photo shows the lane leading past the castle ruins superimposed with a photo of an iron watchman taken in Kettwig, a nearby town.
The heron was here near the house, sitting just under the little bridge over the stream:
The trees are rapidly losing their leaves:
Have a great day, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!
We must all take time to enjoy Autumn and it's so lovely to see how the season has changed your surroundings. Still as stunning.
ReplyDeleteHappy PPF Valerie, have a wonderful weekend.
Hugs Tracey xx
I've seen your avatar but never this awesome art you used with it. I love the autumn inspired art. I also have never seen the other piece with the C. S. Lewis quote. They both read autumn to me, and I really LOVE both of them. I'm thrilled you shared them with as your second look on the 2nd.
ReplyDeleteYour trees are gorgeous. Even though the leaves are dropping quickly, I still love the view across the Rhine where the trees are all so lovely. Great photos, too, dear Valerie.
Thanks! The trees always seem to be greener on the other side! C.S. Lewis is one of my all time fave authors.
DeleteGood morning Val! I was up very early again, the little one is sick and cranky, it's gonna be a fun weekend! LOVE both pieces you are showing again today, and the autumnal colours, in your art and photos, are magnificent - top notch! Have a fun day, hope the sore throat is getting better! Hugs, Sarah
ReplyDeleteBoth pieces of art are terrific Valerie and just right to show for this time of year.
ReplyDeleteAmazing photographs as always with the heron ones standing out for me today.
Have a great weekend
Love Chrissie xx
Hello dear Valerie!
ReplyDeleteYour mixed media pages are absolutely gorgeous!!
You managed so well the Autumn colors and your cute avatar!
Love the photo theme of the 2nd page of the castle and the ruins!
You are so talented and with great inspiration !!
Great captures and close ups of this beautiful Heron bird!
And beautiful Autumnal images from your region!
Thank you for sharing! Wishing you a lovely weekend and a happy November! Hugs!
Dimi...
Thanks so much, dear Dimi!
DeleteIt's great to see these journal pages again Valerie. They were as good the second time as the first time. :) And wow-you got some super heron photos. Ours have migrated and won't be back until spring. I don't exactly know where they go, but it would be a really long trip for them to fly to Germany, wouldn't it? Hope you are having a super Friday. hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteThe herons stay here all year round, here by the Rhine it is mostly mild, so they don't need to go anywhere!
DeleteLuv the heron cradeling its neck like that. Your bright autumn pieces create a good mood. Happy you dropped by my blog today
ReplyDeleteMuch🌺💛🌺love
I love both pieces but my most favorite is the second one with the caste-that is a very cool piece.
ReplyDeleteLooks like autumn still and love the heron-they are so much fun to watch catch fish
Happy second on the 2nd Kathy
Your avatar is so fun. Brilliant autumn colors in the watchman piece and across the river. The heron is just beautiful. Love his brilliant blue. Have a good weekend!
ReplyDeleteGood morning! What a fun collage of you-heehee And the sentiment is right on! Autumn is such a beautiful time of the year!
ReplyDeleteYour second piece is lovely as well, the golds of the trees is just glorious!
Love the quote there as well- speaks volumes!
Hope your weekend is wonderful Valerie!

Two amazing pieces!! Your avatar picture always brings a smile to my face, and wow that second spooky one is a real stunner!
ReplyDeleteGreat photos too, that heron looks fantastic and as I have said before, you live in such a beautiful part of the world!
Sorry for my long absence, but as you may have picked up, I was away from home visiting family and took a blogging break, but back now, so look forward to more regular visits again.

ReplyDeleteLove both these pieces. Autumn is my favourite season. Your colours are perfect. Superb photographs of the Heron, too. I especially like the the close-up.
ReplyDeleteLove your self portrait and gorgeous photos. That blue heron is amazing.
ReplyDeleteYou captured the beautiful vibrant essence of autumn so well in your cards. They are lovely!! Great photos too! Specially love trees and the Rhine.

I love the colors in your self-portrait, but that can't possibly be you... and I don't mean the change of hair or glasses. Where's your SMILE? I picture you with a smile on your face...
ReplyDeleteThe second piece is terrific, too, but that weapon your watchman is holding sure looks formidable.
Have a super weekend!
I'm afraid I was very indignant at having to sit still so long for the portrait!
DeleteI really love both of these for very different reasons, but the second one strikes a cord and is my fave.
ReplyDeleteThose scenic views of Autumn trees and the heron! You got such good photos of that bird. We see a heron at a local park every once in a while, but they aren't common here and getting photos is a challenge. You really show off those colors nicely :)
ReplyDeleteOh that heron! The first art piece was great fun, and I loved the spooky beauty of the second. Your use of that golden color in both was lovely!
ReplyDeleteHow fun to know where your avatar came from, Valerie. Both your A3s are wonderful. Thanks for sharing them a 2nd time. I didn't see them the 1st time ;-) Eileen xox
ReplyDeleteWonderful artwork! Wow, the blue heron is stunning 😁. I love your photos, the brilliance of the feathers is amazing! Thanks for sharing and wishing you a great weekend! J 😊 x

ReplyDeleteLoving your art always and ALWAYS love your wonderful photos, thank you, again!!!
ReplyDeleteI love this 2nd look! We seem to have more herons around (unless it's the same one flying around and landing where we can see it again!!!) I have been asked to pass on an apology from Annie of Curious and Crafty treasures! She has been trying to commemt here but is having problems. Have a great weekend! Chrisx
ReplyDeleteYay !!! I can finally comment dear friend x Blogger issues have been preventing me from publishing comments for some time, so apologies xx
