Colourful stripes

Hi Everybody!

We've been having really good weather these past few days, mild and sunny and quite astonishing for November. I've been making the best of it and was out and about a lot, enjoying the autumnal scenery and fresh air. Sooner or later it will be cold and grey again, so I'm tanking energy as long as it's possible.

I still found time to be creative, as I saved a lot of time by not doing housework. I have been working again using the strips of JD wrapping paper I had, combined with washi tapes, acrylic paints, stencils, die-cuts and a collaged magazine piece, all combined to make an A3 mixed media journal page. I also used the wonderful stamp I won at Paperbabes. The background was painted in vertical stripes using pink, cream, apricot and beige, blended together with a damp brush where the colours met. Then it was stamped with a scroll stamp to give texture. I collaged the paper strips, washi tapes and the magazine face, and then stenciled various patterns using colours which were also in the strips of JD paper. I am linking to Paint Party Friday, Art Impressions Blog, lots of layers and Simon Monday challenge, make your own background:

These are the last photos from my visit to the Botanical Gardens.
Here little bags have been tied onto the plants to catch the seeds - great idea!

Yummy!

Have a great day, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!

  7. It is a beautiful page and the border of eyes looking from the page is a super addition to make me look closer at the detail.
Wonderful photos, the sky still looks so blue. I think grey is the colour of our skies these days.

  9. Wonderful page. I really like that quote. I liked how you were able to have time for your art by not doing housework. That made me laugh. Such beautiful Fall colors in the gardens. Our weather has been wet and chilly. Today was sunny, but more rain expected on Friday. The lawn guy mentioned he heard snow for Friday. So enjoy your golden days for me.

  11. That's a super page Valerie. The shadow face in the background was really a nice surprise. I'm getting to the point I need to do a bit of housework. But I will put it off for another day or 2. :) And glad you can enjoy this fall. We actually had sun today for a switch, but they say maybe snow next week. AUGH! Hugs-Erika

Your photos of autumn are fabulous. You make me wish I was there with you.

and I am so glad to hear you have had such good weather and have been tanking the energy! It is downright miserable here! All the pretty snow is gone, replaced by constant down-pouring and bone numbing cold-yuk!

on to that page...so Cool!! I love her eyes and she totally resembles Freda- great job!
