T stands for Things beginning with T

Hi Everybody!

Hope you all enjoyed your Easter weekend as I did. It rained all day on Sunday here, but I was invited to a friend's for a wonderful meal, so enjoyed my day very much.
On Tuesday we are starting a new challenge at TIOT
Recycle something. We want to see things which have been re-used or re-purposed, and you have 2 weeks to link your creation to us.
I recently found a pile of shabby notebooks, which had been stuffed into a drawer and forgotten for many moons. I made some covers for them using a sheet of printed card which a neighbour was throwing away, and offered to me. The little tag was one sent to me as part of a gift, and I fitted it to the cover as an embellishment. The ribbon was tied onto a free sample in a magazine. I used the last scraps of card to make a pocket inside each cover:

I am looking forward to seeing what you create for this challenge!

At Tag Tuesday you still have a week to enter our 'diamonds are forever' challenge. I have a small owl tag with pearls for eyes:

And Tuesday is also time for  Elizabeth's tea stands for Tuesday, so here a warm welcome to all of the nice ladies of the T gang. Last Friday, which was a warm and spring-like day, I went for a walk with my buddy G through the wild-life park in Grafenberg, Düsseldorf, and afterwards we went for a pizza. G had a 'quattro stagione' pizza and I had a small margarita one. I had a diet cola with mine and G had a 'real' cola:

The wild life park is in a hill-top, wooded area, and we enjoyed walking around in the sunshine, eating ice creams, and of course, watching the animals.

The wild pigs and the little squeakers were fun to watch:

Lots of deer:

Wild cats:

This notice was on a lot of the enclosures - be careful, we bite!

The raccoons had just woken up and were thirsty:

The frog was sunning itself on a path. And before you ask - no, I didn't try to kiss it - who needs a prince?

The trees are still bare:

More photos to follow another day!

Have a great day, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!

  1. Love the little notebooks, so pretty. Beautiful tag, too. Love the photos from Grafenberg, glad you had good weather. Your pizza looks good, too. Have a nice evening, hugs, Sarah

  2. I really enjoyed your recycled notebook. This is a challenge I am definitely up for (grin). You turned this into a work of art.

I totally enjoyed the pizzas and now I am definitely hungry. Your diet coke and G's real coke made the pizzas even more special, I'm sure.

The wildlife at Grafenberg was fun to see. I had a few favorites, like the cat. I'm glad you explained the sign, because I might have wanted to pet one of those beauties. Thanks for taking us there, and thanks for sharing your art as well as your pizzas and cokes with us for T this nearly Tuesday.

  3. Lovely piece for the new theme. The owl tag is gorgeous. The pizzas look delicious and the photos of the animals are wonderful. We have too many raccoons around here.

  13. The note books have had a fantastic make over Valerie, they would make super gifts as well. Your owl tag also looked lovely with his pearl eyes.
The photos are amazing, I loved how you seemed to get up close to the animals, it seems a super area to go for a walk and to visit.
Happy T day wishes, that pizza looked delicious.
    Yvonne xx

  14. Beautiful notebook, tag and pictures!

  15. The notebook covers are so cute and I love the pearl eyes of the owl. I love pizza. You can never go wrong with pizza (unless the pizza is topped with pineapple and Canadian bacon (ham). That's so wrong to an Italian. And like G, pizza needs a real Coke to wash it all down. You just have the best areas to take a walk. Your animal photos came out great. I especially loved the feral cat, and the warning sign. Thanks for the outing. Have a Happy T Day!

  16. Super notebook covers. Love your photos too especially the animal park ones

  27. Valerie~ to answer your question/comment: Girl Scouts is a youth organization for girls (similar to Boy Scouts) and every year they sell cookies for a fund raiser. In the U.S. the cookies are pretty legendary-quite yummy! but a problem for us dieters! lol ;)

    1. Thanks for the explanation. The girl scouts seem to be the same as the girl guides in England.

  28. Wonderful recycling, Valerie. Better yet - upcycling - becausse those notebooks never looked so good! I love the inside pockets. Those always come in handy.

I just visited Deb and saw her owl lamps .... and now I'm seeing your owl tag with piercing eyes. What a coincidence.

I never heard of mufflon. What fabulous horns! That was a fascinating walk through the wild animal park. Thanks for sharing your photos.
