What's your style?

 Hi Everybody!

Today we are starting a new challenge at Art Journal Journey, and this time our wonderful Bleubeard is hosting, together with Elizabeth, who helps him and produces the art. Her theme is 'What's your style', and you can read all about it on the AJJ blog.  Before I show what I have made, I would like to thank our dear ERIKA for her wonderful theme of let's face it last month. And please remember to read the dreaded rules!

I'm not sure what my style is, as I always try different things, but I will try to show you some of my styles in the coming weeks. I am starting with a colourful collage of  journal pages made recently:

The flowers on all the window sills today:

Some thinkies and funnies:

Especially for those who got lots of snow:

Have a great day, take care,
and thanks  a lot for coming by!

  1. When I think of your style, I see lots of faces and bodies. You have certainly created that in this wonderful post today, Valerie. I love how you digitally stitched the pages together. So much neater than my wonky ones. Thanks for this very colorful first entry for my theme at Art Journal Journey, dear friend. I hope you feel better soon because those flowers and those funnies sure brightened my day.

    1. Digital stitching is good, once you have the image in your programme yao can use it again and again!

  3. A fabulous page using some of your latest pages, great inspiration for the new AJJ theme. It was lovely to see some of your beautiful paintings altogether. This theme is giving us much to think about.
    Stay safe and well.

  4. I love your collage today. You do make very distinctive faces which are wonderful. It’s fun to experiment and try new thing. As I said to Elizabeth, I wonder if big names artists ever get bored having to make art that people expect from them. It is nice not to have that pressure. I love how you started the new month. Hope you have a great healthy February. Take care. Hugs Erika

  5. Love your collage piece. When I think of your style I think of birds, faces and the application of paint. Must admit that today I looked at your collage and thought "people", Valerie likes people.
I do hope you are feeling a bit better today and getting lots of rest.

  6. Good morning Valerie: Just look at all those intelligent, interesting, seductive faces all meshed together in one glorious collage. That's a good way to start my day. You indicate that you don't know what your style is since you experiment with different techniques, and that's a good thing, but I think the essence of your style is revealed in this montage, at least for your current phase. What it might become tomorrow, who knows? I am sure, however, it will be interesting for all to see. This morning I have a dental appointment. Not my favourite pastime but it has to be done. We all go and pay good money to have them do to us things we don't enjoy! This weekend if the weather cooperates and we don't have snow storms, we will be travelling to Ottawa to visit my daughter and family. Keep your fingers and toes crossed for us. Hugs and kisses, David

    1. Hi David! Style is something that always changes and evolves, so as you said, it's only possible to see the present stage. Yesterday is history and tomorrow is a mystery, we only have the present! Dentist, hmm, not nice but necessary, I hope he doesn't hurt you too much! And yes, we have to pay fr the torture! I will keep my fingers and toes crossed for you, and hope you can get safely to Oiiawa to visit your daughter. Have a wonderful day, hugs!

  7. Hi Valerie! I am new to this whole "style" thing, but I do know that your style is absolutely BEAUTIFUL! I love how you tied together all of your amazing faces (and flowers) into one awesome page entitled "What's my style?" It's simply gorgeous and so creative! And I loved your flowers photo and funnies, too. The one about procrastination made me laugh out loud. Thanks! HUGS, Sharon

  26. I ADORE the Map of Distraction. That is spot on!

In your work I generally see two different styles emerge most often -- the brilliant, bold colors seen in your paintings and some of your backgrounds and the more muted, softer, vintage things (like those where you use your family photos). Those are the ones that stick with me most but I love all you share.

You are never afraid to add more colour, you have a beautiful way with art. I laughed so hard at your funnies but the rocking chair quote made me near pee my pants.. so so true (I have a rocking chair too...:D)

  29. I love your faces in particular (and that I can comment on your blog - first one in the list I can!) and the collage view is a great way to showcase your style. I have a queued post that is whole pages and not nearly as eye-catching or engaging. I must remember this for the future. I am really enjoying all the challenges - and appreciate the funnies to make me smile.

The memes and funnies are especially fun today - I love that map. I get lost in the forest, lake and beach a lot!
