2nd on the 2nd

Hi Everybody!

Today is Elizabeth's 2nd on the 2nd, so time to re-show a blast from the past.
These 2 'inspired by' pieces were both made in 2014. The first is a knock off from Matisse, with fussy cut ladies on a splotched background:

 The 2nd is a celebration of op-art:

I am also linking to Soma's wandering camera and paint party Friday

These are the photos taken inside the Lambertus basilica in the Altstadt of Düsseldorf, you can see the outside here

It is a very beautiful Gothic building, a wonderful place to sit , think, and calm down:

The golden shrine from the middle ages:

I lit candles for all of my friends, near and far:

Have a great day, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!

  6. Your Matisse women are magical, so full of sinuous grace and movement. Great to see them again. And thank you for the trip to the basilica too. I can imagine it's nice to find somewhere cool to spend time.

  9. Your Matisse-inspired piece is absolutely fabulous. I love it! You executed the op art pieced beautifully, too, but that's not my favorite kinda art. That much busy visual stimulation makes me dizzy. :)

The basilica? WOW! Those sweeping architectural lines are awe-inspiring... which, I'm sure, is exactly the reaction the architects hoped to generate.

Have a super weekend, dear lady!

    1. Op art is rather strenuous, and it was hard to make with all those converging lines! The basilica is just fantastic.

  11. It's great to see those pieces. I think I remember the Matisse inspired ladies (very cool-Matisse is one of my favorite artists)) but not the Saab piece. Boy you did a super job with those red lines. They make such a 1960's background. And I love the old car image you used. Looks like it could come an ad in an old magazine-the whole piece, not just the image. And the church is very beautiful. I bet it is nice and cool inside and a good place to sit after or during one of your walks. Happy Friday. hugs-Erika

  13. What fabulous second looks today, Valerie. The Matisse inspired ladies are wonderful. Your ability to create Matisse inspired art is wonderful. Of course, I think my favorite might be the op-art. I love it because I know how LONG it must have taken you to paint the background. Both choices are stunning and art is a great way to remember what you made in the past. Thank you beyond belief for sharing these awesome art pieces with us as your second look on the 2nd.

The photos you took of the Lambertus Basilica are wonderful. Of particular interest is the Golden Shrine, which also became a gorgeous blog header, too. Wonderful photos of this beautiful Basilica.
