Heads for 2nd on the 2nd

Hi Everybody!

We had a holiday for the first of May here, so that made a nice break in the middle of the week. It started out cool and misty, but this afternoon the sun came out, and I was able to enjoy a nice walk with Nelya and Harry. And of course, I did some cooking and we all enjoyed our meal - marinated chicken, Chinese-style veggies and brown mushrooms, yummy. Harry had an omelette instead of chicken as he doesn't eat meat, so we feasted well! And Harry bought us some very delicious Black Forest Cherry cake for dessert, so that was great, too.

For Elizabeth's 2nd on the 2nd I have some A3 pieces from previous years to share, once again using my head....These were all made at the same time as the ones shown last month,  back in 2012, and all were made with a mix of water colours, acrylic paints and collage:

I called this one 'Losing my marbles'. and used hand marbled paper:

I am also linking to Paint Party Friday, hosted by Eva and Kristin.

And I have one more tag for Michele's lovely 'faces' challenge at Tag Tuesday

Images are from Wikipedia and the rust from my stash:

Some photos from this week. I visited Hofgarten again to see how the birds and flowers there are getting on:

This is the bird house, where sick or injured birds can be cared for:

These Nile geese were showing a very elaborate mating ritual, it was great to be able to watch them:

The black swan is still alone, but is sitting patiently on her nest and is being fed and cared for:

That's all for today.
Have a great day, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!

  1. I'll begin with the rusty tag, dear Valerie. You KNOW how much I love rust. Leonardo is always a great person to share and his Vitruvian Man is one of my favorites.

I was hoping the male black swan was back when I saw the black swan in the water. I feel so bad for her and her eggs she is sitting on. They are so rare, I wonder if someone stole the male.

Your second look this month is wonderful. I have always loved your heads and they are all wonderful and many are SO different, too. I especially liked the one losing your marbles! Thanks beyond belief for sharing your second look with us on the 2nd this month.

    1. There is a large colony of black swans in the park, just her mate seems to be missing.

  3. I am smiling at seeing the wonderful heads pages again, especially the one where,' she is loosing her marbles', they are all fabulous.
The Leonardo tag looks great and you got a super rusty colour effect for it.
All the photos from your walk look lovely, I think the lone female black swan has touched many of us. I'm so happy to read she is being cared for.
It sounds like you had a lovely day with your friends.

  7. The love of the human face, even the profile is pleasing and just by placing the face to face brings such feeling of emotion. Loosing your marbles is a fab idea.
Loving the colours of your tag, working in harmony with those images.
So sad to see the female Black Swan still alone, i'm glad she is being taken care of and hoping her companion will return to make all things well again.
    Hugs Tracey xx

  13. Love, love your gorgeous photos!
Thanks for the second look at your marbled heads, because I didn't see them the first time around. I wish I was more confident in doing projects like these, although I have done some marbling techniques with marbles. Have a great week-end.

  16. Your heads a re beautiful. I love the 'losing my marbles' one.
Da Vinci is tops too. I love the colour. I know Elizabeth likes rust. I like a colour that people call 'burnt orange'. It is not the same as rust but similar.
I love seeing all those birds. How special that you have been able to witness the geese's mating ritual. very special indeed.
And the poor black swan is still on her own. Very sad.
