Hi Everybody!
On the fifth of each month we start a new challenge at
Our challenges are, as always, anything goes,
with pink as an optional extra.
Hope to see lots of you joining in, you have 4 weeks
to link to us!
I made an A3 mixed media piece. The background was gessoed,
painted with light grey and some madder red, and textured with a brayer.
The Banksy stencil is a freebie from Stencilry.org. The tulips
are from a paper napkin, applied with matte medium. The dots were also added
with a stencil, as was the text.
I am also linking to Paint Party Friday, hosted as always by Eva and Kristin.
For Tag Tuesday, Chrissie's 'faces' challenge, I made a cow tag.
The cow is from a photo taken near here last year. I love watching
cows, and just love their eyes. My mum always called me cow face
when I was a kid - believe me, that was one of her nicer
sayings, the majority were not printable! But it never
worried me as I just like cows! I painted
my version of the face, and then digitally added a filter to
give it more interest. After printing out the image I placed it
on a piece of glassine paper, which had been given a lick
of blue metallic paint from Inca Gold, and then
embossed. I made 2 rows of stitching to hold the tag
and the 2 different backings together. I am also linking
On Sunday we had a nice sunrise, the rest of the week has been
cold and wet!
Love this idea for a garden path:

I hope you will enter it into our challenge at 2 Crafty Critter Crazies. In fact, we would welcome any of your beautiful photographs of birds and other creatures into our challenge as well. We are open to all kinds of arts and crafts.

Very wonderful art. I too love cows, so this is my favorite today. We get a LOT of rain here on the Oregon coast but this year we have had more rain than we have had in 100 years. It is horrible and I am so waiting for it to stop.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pages...love the cow art!! They do have beautiful eyes yet sad at times! What was with people back in the day that they couldn't be nicer to children. So sad! Those things are forever embedded in your soul!! Great post!!

Super art
ReplyDeleteLove how you used the Banksy stencil - beautiful page. The cow tag just melts my heart, I love them too, so nice to rub their necks... such a lovely warm feeling which you've conveyed so well.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous colourful flowers and funny birds! Cheers and PPF Dear Valerie :D)
The rain is due to arrive here today and last for a good week. I'm happy with that since I will be going into the hospital so let it rain. :) Your page is perfect Valerie. It fits my day since it is the last day of school for me and I am saying goodbye to the kids. At least for me being their teacher for the rest of the year. The little girl and her balloon is a great symbol for that. Hope all is well with you. Hugs-Erika

Hi Valerie! I love your Friday posts, they are my absolute favorite. I joined the More Mixed Media too. Last month's Yellow was tough. I actually have two yellow paintings that will be covered up with gesso and used for this month's pink. I love your pink piece. Your photos of all the plants and flowers look great wet don't they? The raindrops give such depth and color. I enjoyed every picture, especially the blue bells! I haven't seen blue bells in...forever! Thank you for a wonderful post. Big hugz, Rasz
ReplyDeleteOh, that sweeter CoW's face!! Well done! I've got believes blooming as well (Oregon) and love the shot with the Lady's Mantle! Happy PPF!
