A canvas, spring green and a squirrel

Hi everybody!

My computer is not behaving itself at all today, one crash after the other, it is rather frustrating!

I have made a canvas (12x9") using an image from Gecko Galz  'Between the pages' collage sheet. This is my first DT piece using the new images for May.  The canvas was painted with acrylics using pink,  cream and green to complement the colours of the image. I added lots of texture, with stamping, heating and bubbling, lots of Frantage EP in various colours sprinkled directly onto the wet paint, and some German glass glitter. I added a frame made of cardboard, painted, stamped and also embossed.

I love the different colours and textures:

I am linking to Paint Party Friday, hosted, as always, by Eva and kristin.

I took part in a pay it forward art swap with Marji, and received her lovely accordion book , which I posted on Sunday. My piece to her is now on its way, here is a sneak peek:

And the box it is travelling in:

Today started out cool and misty, and I love to watch the mist slowly dissolving to reveal some of the landscape:

I noticed the lion under the font in the church;

And can you see the little squirrel running up the tree? I didn't dare to go nearer. He was watching me and you can see the glint in his eye.

One of the horses was wearing a strange head-cover - wonder why?

Wish you all a great day, take care, and thanks for coming by!

Your photographs today are so atmospheric, it's been misty here too.
And the stone lion is adorable.
    Hope your computer gets better.

  4. What a gorgeous canvas Valerie, the textures and colours are wonderful. We've had grey, grey and more grey for 3 days now. We had an almighty thunderstorm last night but it's back to the grey this morning lol. My computer has died too so is in for repairs - I'm using Chris's lap top at the moment, give me my own keyboard and mouse anyday :-) xx

Drücke dir die Daumen, das dein Laptop wieder stabil ist ... es ist wirklich frustrierend, wenn es nicht so läuft wie gewünscht. Ich habe gerade eine Störung hinter mir und hoffe, dass jetzt alles gut ist!

  26. Bad news about your computer Valerie--hope it keeps going with all the work you do to keep it going.

What a wonderful canvas which amazing textures that you created and a beautiful image that stands out in those surrounding.

The photographs as wonderful as always and so pleased you have red squirrels as ours are all the grey ones and far too many of them these days.

I think the horse is maybe wearing a type of blinker to either stop him/her fighting or to protect the eyes from flies. I should know as my daughter had horses and stables but I was never really into horses I just pretended I was for her :)
    Have a beautiful day

    Love Chrissie x

  44. A beautiful collage piece, the colours so intense and the texture so varied. It looks just the variations of colours in ancient rust, which is something I love. Great photos as always, I know what you mean about the mist and the effects it has on the landscape. I love the close-up of the buttercups, they bring back lots of memories for me.
Thank you for your very nice comment about my piece on PPF.

  49. Love your collage work, very good. The horse might well be wearing a mask to keep flies off the ears and eyes...some horses suffer from them quite badly especially at this time of year.

  53. Your canvas is absolutely marvelous and the photographs show off its shimmer. I wish I could see it in person. As far as the strange head gear on the horse, when horses around here wear them it is to keep the flies from bothering them.
