Hi everybody!
The week is racing by, and I have had a busy week doing this and that and not really getting anything finished! I made some backgrounds using lots of colours, that was fun, and I hope that I will get round to finishing them next week. I see a lot of figures lurking in the first one....
What will this one be? I had fun heating and bubbling the colours to give some texture.
And I think this will be an underwater world:
This one is more or less finished, I painted another 2 figures like those I did last week inspired by Thierry Noir. But I like the background best, once again heated and bubbled to give texture.
I am linking to Paint Party Friday, hosted as always by Eva and kristin, and to AJJ, hosted by the sweet Susi, 'Happiness', as these strange figures make me happy.
And here are some photos from my walk this morning.
Walking through the fields:
I loved this view looking over the roof of the old Langer Hof at Kalkum to the church spire:
And of course, I had to visit my ducks and the Schloss where they live:
And on my way home through the park I saw a crane sitting on the roof of one of the neighbouring houses, not a very frequent sight. I watched it for a few minutes till it spread its wings and flew away towards the Rhine.
Have a great day, take care, and thanks a lot for coming by!
Love your painty backgrounds they evoked very different scenes in my head as I studied them, they have great potential so I am looking forward to seeing what you do with them. Lovely photos TFS xx
Erika
Wonderful painted backgrounds, love your two figures again - they are so sweet. And wonderful photos too, love to see how spring looks at your place. Hugs, Sarah
ReplyDeleteI am amazed that you find time to make anything Valerie as the scenery you have around you is so wonderful--I think I would be out there all day long--thank you for sharing your wonderful photographs.
ReplyDeleteLove the idea of yours to make backgrounds for later and one day I will get around to doing just that. The second one I see as a fantasy planet with wonderful vegetation and amazing flowers-wonder what you will make with it--can't wait to see
Love Chrissie x
Fabulous backgrounds Valerie, they look great as they are. I think seeing the crane was an omen of good luck - well I hope so, anyway! Have a lovely day. Xx
ReplyDeleteLoving your backgrounds Valerie, and the one you finished looks so fun! Lots of potential in all of the other ones, number two suggested a beautiful dreamy landscape to me with a lake in the middle. Photos like always are stunning! I am actually in Germany right now (Spreewald) but here sadly the skies are grey, though we did have some lovely sunshine a few days ago
ReplyDeleteYou should have come here ( although the skies are grey today, too!) Rhineland is much nicer than Spreewald! (Don't tell anyone I said that!)
DeleteReally wonderful painty backgrounds, Valerie. I love all but most "underwater" as it really looks like that.
ReplyDeleteAJ couple is adorable and your photos are very beautiful and interesting.
Herrliche Rheinland Impressionen wieder ...
DANKE liebe Valerie!
Knuddel!
OJE!! Du Ärmste, das wird nicht leicht! Viel Glück!
DeleteBeautiful backgrounds! In fact, I like the second one just as it is! We have a few cranes that live around our lake; they are beautiful majestic birds with a surprisingly big wingspan for their skinny bodies.
ReplyDeleteoh the magic created with color, beautiful , what a lovely walk this day,
ReplyDeleteLove all your painty backgrounds, the second one would stand as it is, it looks great, but I'm sure you will give it your special touch of magic.
ReplyDeleteYvonne xx
Your back grounds look great. I love the way you can just look at them and know what you want to do with them.. That's where I get stuck. You sure do have beautiful shots from your morning walks.
ReplyDeleteHugs~
Gorgeous painty backgrounds, the colours are beautiful and so are your photographs.

Hi Valerie, Lovely painted backgrounds. From play to perfect!! Love your pics today and how wonderful to see the Crane on the rooftop. Great pic.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing the beauty of your area and artwork!
hugs
Gorgeous backgrounds, awesome colours and again your photos are great. Most of our snow has melted, (still some in the shaded areas) and it's warm & sunny! It seems that spring will arrive after all. Take care, Shirleyx
ReplyDeleteBeautiful backgrounds Valerie - I definitely see a figure walking into view on the first background and the third one for sure is underwater. Now the second one might be the most interesting to work with. Land, water and sky? At any rate, painting some backgrounds and having a good play sounds like a wonderful idea. You just have to know what you are doing so don't make mud.
ReplyDeleteWould you look at that Crane -- he might be lost and has gone to higher ground to see what is what.
Hope your day was a good one - these days seem to fly by faster than I would like!
Sandy xx
You created such wonderful backgrounds Valerie.

Valerie, your backgrounds are vibrant and wonderful. I see figures in the first one too. I'm interested to see if they are the same as you see. The second one is a western US scene of mesas, mountains and a lake in the foreground. And yes, I believe the third one is an underwater scene. Beautiful beginnings.

Beautiful backgrounds - love the idea of heating and bubbling! And thank you for the mini vacation through your photographs. Glad you're still painting those happy figures too! Happy PPF!
ReplyDeleteHeating and bubbling!? Never heard of that. But the results are amazing! I wouldn't do anything with the background anymore, it looks perfect just as it is ....
ReplyDeleteYour background pieces look great and I love these characters of yours, wonderful art and your photos are always a pleasure too, thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful compositions with exquisite colors, these abstractions gorgeous! nice photos!

The textures in your backgrounds are really great. I see a lot in them. I know your are going to find a lot in them. Your little figures/characters are lots of fun. I love how you always take us on your walk. I enjoy it. I love to hear about the Rhine. Take care, have a great day and Happy PPF!
ReplyDeleteStunning backgrounds. They are gorgeous! Your photos are always soothing and a nice way to start my morning. Have a good weekend, Valerie.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Carolyn
Lovely backgrounds and lovely pics. I was interested to see the one of the crane on the roof top because I have seen the same sight on roof tops here too, although I wasn't sure if it was a crane or a heron. Like you say it is an unusual sight to see.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous backgrounds you have painted, I can't wait to see what you make with them. Loved your walk too, take care sweet friend. Big hugs, ~Diane
ReplyDeleteWowness..what a beautiful post! Firstly..I love your color-textures, they are visually mesmerizing.how I love the turquoise-y hues..magical! ad Love your art...and then as always your photography always captivates my soul..with the poetic trees and thoughtful-reflections of nature..and ducks..and then the finale..a magical crane standing high atop the roof..what a powerful sign !wow!
ReplyDeleteVictoria
Wonderful backgrounds! They are so evocative! There are definitely some very cool figures lurking in that first one, and I can't wait to see them emerge!
ReplyDeleteLovely backgrounds Val, especially like the one with the heat gun technique, perfect texture!
ReplyDeleteAs always the walks are refreshing and very inspiring . I'm curious to see the mysterious figures hiding in the abyss.
Annabelle : )
Oh Valerie, those painted backgrounds are drop dead gorgeous! So much texture and color that I just love. Speaking of love, again I have enjoyed your walk and hope your weekend is beautiful. Hugs!

Really awesome backgrounds and your figures are so quaint. ♥♥♥♥♥ Love all of the photos especially the one with the crane :)
ReplyDeleteLove the art and the photos!
ReplyDeleteI love those backgrounds - I have been playing more with different colors lately as well. Love those new very fluid Golden acrylics - like watercolor only a bit more vibrant than the watercolors I've used. I can see all of those backgrounds becoming fabulous paintings - and also very different from each other. Even though I live in the southern east coast of the US - and we have lots of cranes, egrets, ospreys, etc I never tire of seeing these beautiful birds - wonderful photos.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful variety! The first one has a lovely flow to it - I see figures, too! Love the underwater one, too - and the photos are amazing! I have never seen a crane on a roof top! CRAZY!! Happy PPF!
ReplyDeleteWow you have been soooo busy. I love all of these especially the first on. I too see lots of people and creatures. Wonderful photos as well.
ReplyDeleteNicole/Beadwright
Your second background could be a finished painting. It is so beautiful. Love the photos too. Isn't it great to finally see signs of spring?
