Hi everybody!
It's really hot here in Germany, we have had temps of up to 35°, with very high humidity and tendency to storms - but from tomorrow it will start cooling down again, and then we will be back to normal....
This week has flown by. At SOC the colour choice for this week is hot pink and orange - and no, I definitely didn't choose it! But I think it does it good to work with other colour combos from time to time. I made some mixed media journal pages. I used some little images from a magazine, which I scanned, digitally altered, re-sized, printed - luckily BEFORE my printer went on strike - and cut out. For the left image I used some old book paper to print on. I painted the backgrounds of both pages, glued the images down and had fun with paints, transparent pens and felt tips. The background has been stenciled and stamped, too. So I ended up enjoying the colourful pages, and even the white spaces in between!
I am also linking to Paint Party Friday, hosted by Eva and Kristin.
Thanks to all the ladies who organise these great events!
Have a great day, take care, and thanks for coming by!
OH MY... "VIBRANT" & "ALIVE" ... love these Valerie!! :]

ReplyDeleteHugs, Fliss xx
Wow I love these colours Valerie and you've used gorgeous images xx
ReplyDeleteVery nice journal pages! Greetings from a Belgian Valerie :-)
ReplyDeletePink and Orange! what a combo...and you have made a great job with them. Love your pages.
ReplyDeleteYour white images stand out so well against the bright Orange/Pink backgrounds. I love your digitally altered magazine pictures, particularly the black emphasis on the lady with the hat. I was so entranced with the strong features that it took me a while to see the camels and tree. Superb - they give the feeling of a hot desert atmosphere. You are so inventive and original, I love your work.
ReplyDeleteP.S. What are 'transparent pens'?
They are calligraphy pens from Lehmann and Weber, and the ink in them is transparent. I didn't know it when I bought them, but they give lovely effects!
ReplyDeleteJust adore these pieces, Valerie! These colours are really waking me up! It's 6:45 am - so thank you for that. :o) hugs, Donna
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely gorgeous pieces, Valerie! I would so love to be able to paint like that. Love how the white images just pop off of those hot, bright colors.
ReplyDeleteyou did a great job with these pages Valerie, I love the colour combo myself.
ReplyDeleteGreat SOC contribution Valerie. Love the pen work. I really like the colors.:)
ReplyDeleteWunderschön, liebe Valerie! Ich finde auch, dass orange das neue pink ist.
ReplyDeleteLiebe Grüße
Erika
you have worked the colours very well and the blue makes a good contrast:)
ReplyDeleteOh, fantasico, Valerie, these colours and all your little and large pictures - I too didn't notice the camels at first. Ladies faces and camels, who would have thought of it ..... you! I also like the stamping, especially the different coloured diamonds for some reason. It sounds as if you had a ball making this, to great effect.
ReplyDeleteWOW - your white spaces are so effective and you have worked so well with colours you wouldn't normally choose too. BJ#13 thanks for the visit.
ReplyDeleteI had to do the conversion from C to F and that is hot! We get that kind of heat pretty regularly, but without the humidity! Stay cool! Love these pages and the ladies faces! The white space pulls you right in! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteWOW, darling pages!!. I LOVE the mag stencil effect from just coloring the sides with felt tips :). I think it's the colors we're playing this week, warmed things up :). Stay cool.
ReplyDeleteLove how you use magazine images, these are two fabulous pages.
ReplyDeleteBeen hot here, but not the temperatures you have had.
