Hi Everybody!
Hope you all had a good weekend, and I'm hoping we're all going to have a great week . Today I actually have something to share that isn't a face - can you believe it? Today I have a large canvas - 50 x 70 centimetres. I rescued it from a fate worse than death in the garbage, somebody had just put it out and I was there to rescue it. It had evidently been painted a few times in various colours, and then covered in stickers. I wiped it off, gave it a base layer of cream coloured paint, and then just had fun playing with colours, scribbling, not having to be careful not to smudge etc, and this was the result. I know it's not everybody's cup of tea or coffee, so don't feel bad if you don't like it! I am linking to Matilde's challenge at AJJ.
Lovely canvas and lunch sounds delicious! Good thinkies! -Christine cmlk79.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteThanks Christine, hugs!
DeleteGreat canvas save and with the WTF maybe someone was too frustrated to continue with it? LOL The lunch setting looks so nice and so does Heike. So glad you both felt well enough to dine out. Have a great week ahead.
ReplyDeleteOh dear, the WTF was me. I just felt like it! Have a great, new week!
DeleteIt's a nice piece of abstract art and you have it perfectly accented with your chachkees surrounding it. If creating was cathartic for you then it was a gift, literally trash to treasure! Lunch photos are great and Heike looks fit and trim. Rest and take good care, xoxo
ReplyDeleteThanks Aimeslee, it did me good and I like it! Have a great, new week! Hugs
DeleteHi Val, good morning! I LOVE your canvas, really good. Great colours, too. I can see that you felt challenged and just had to paint it! Did you write wtf? Anyway, it's a fantastic piece. Have a good Monday, take care! Hugs, Sarah
ReplyDeleteThanks , you know I love a challenge! And anyway, WTF! Hugs!
DeleteActually, I LOVE it, what a fantastic save and the colours a bright and vibrant fabulous technique, love the silhouette men and the squiggles and sketchy lines..FABULOUS..

DeleteWow! So colorful ! I do like it and so nice you could take something that was doomed and recreate it! Your Penne meal sounds delicious and enjoyed the funnies!
ReplyDeleteThanks Judee. People always throw so much away, and I like re-creating. Have a great week, hugs!
DeleteGood morning, Frau Tups, Dumpster Diver par excellence. You are living proof that one person’s trash is another’s treasure. After all, who else would rescue an old canvas, already bedaubed and bearing the evidence of stickers, only to clean it up and daub it all over again? Who else would even see the possibility? Maybe a dog peed on it passing by to add pheremonal interest! The possibilities regarding the prior life of this artifact invite speculation of all kinds. But now it has been repurposed in the inimitable style of the Balconia-by-the-Rhine school of art (membership one, I think) and we are all invited to view its resurrection and renewed splendour and vigour. This whole episode is going to be my inspiration for the day, Valerie. By the way, it’s very good to see Heike once again, beaming and smile as only Heike can, with her trademark beer at her side. Recycling, renewal and Heike. Surely all is well with the world. Hugs and kisses (brand new) - David
ReplyDeleteThanks David, you always make me smile, and that's something that does me good. It was good that we could get out again, and sit outside, I hope we can do it more often! Rescuing an old canvas and re-painting it is a challenge that I like. I have a few more canvases to repurpose, but they were given me by friends. It would be really good if all were well with our world, but we need t stay hopeful! Have a great day, take care! Hugs, xxxxxxx
DeleteHow cool to rescue trash and turn it into art. Well done!
ReplyDeleteThanks CJ, have you packed yet!?

ReplyDeleteThanks Danielle, have a great week!
DeleteI love that you were able to be so free with your found canvas. Cool! The food sounds good, and I'd enjoy that outdoor seating
ReplyDeleteThanks. If I paint on old cardboard or used canvases i can be much more free than if I'm working on expensive paper or whatever! It's bedtime here, so I'll say goodnight!
DeleteYou do seem to be having fun, painting and going out to an al fresco lunch. Have a good week. I hope you have much better things to do than just write more blog posts.
