Monday /Tuesday post

 Hi Everybody!

Hope you all had a great weekend!

This bird was one of the pieces made in the Kaleidoscope taster sessions. The lesson was from Eulalia . My bird is a bit different, but I had fun making it. I hope David will be able to name it....

And this colourful piece was a colour excercise from Tam:

I am linking to Matilde's 'What makes me happy' challenge at AJJ.

This evening Elizabeth's TSFT will be starting, so I need some drinks to share:

On Saturday it was Heike's birthday, and she invited us to a wonderful restaurant by the Rhine in Düsseldorf. I chose grilled Salmon in a lovely  sauce, really heavenly. But I didn't take any pics of the delicious, hot chocolate sauce over a huge portion of vanilla ice-cream which we ate for dessert. My drink was water:

From the window we could look down at the river and the sheep grazing, and ships, large and small, swimming by:

Some funnies:

Pictures taken from about 4:30 am on Friday. I love watching sunrise and
dawn:

Have a great day, take care,
And thanks a lot for  coming by!

  8. I am overwhelmed this morning to be greeted by a perfect rendition of the Great Crested Blue-Spotted Wagtail (Moticilla tupsensis), usually referred to affectionately (and very creatively) as Spotty. This species was recorded far back in the annals of ornithological history, but so seldom as to lead some authorities to consider it a product of schnapps-induced hallucination, a perfectly reasonable assumption given its profusion of spots and big googly eyes. Spotty is bound to become a favourite with everyone and I expect will soon be appearing on tee shirts, coasters, patches for backpacks and dangling from windows in the form of sun catchers. This is a monumental discovery, Valerie, and we are all in your debt for rendering it so well. I know that you claim to have created this bird as a result of a tutorial but this attempt to disguise your modesty does not fool us even for a moment. We will not be deceived. We know that you have been out and about, cruising on your rollator, exploring bush and bramble, hill, valley, slope and scree, pushing the boundaries of exploration, and discovering once again the bounty of Balconia-by-the-Rhine. Your salmon dinner was a fine celebration of such a landmark identification and to have the company of the renowned Professor Heike a feather (pardon the pun) in your cap. As for me, I shall bathe in the reflected glory of your accomplishment. That will be enough for me. Hugs and kisses - David

    1. I feel duly honoured by your praise, it goes down like honey! As old as I am I still enjoy painting child like birds and animals, who needs to grow up! And thanks for giving my bird such a regal name, very fitting indeed! And when you write your next bird encyclopaedia I hope you will give it a mention....And I really have a winter hat with feathers on it! Have a great day! Hugs, Valerie

  12. First, happy birthday wishes to Heike. I hope she had a good birthday.

Love the bird. I thought I might try that exercise by Tam, since it didn't involve any actual drawing of things. They are also great entries for Matilde's theme at AJJ.

Loved the drink references and really loved seeing Heike with her mock beer. Your salmon looks wonderful;, too. Thanks for sharing Heike's birthday dinner with us for T this week, dear Valerie.

LOVED your sky shots. I wish I had that kind of a view where I could watch the sun rise or even set, but all you see at my house is trees front and back.

  28. Your bird turned out beautiful, Valerie. I had signed up for the tatser lessons, but then didn't do any of them because I had an idea for the bg canvas that was hanging around my place for several years. Maybe now it will get eventually finished.
Happy birthday to Heike. Love that Paulaner Weißbier - we currently have Paulaner Weißbier as well since it was sold at Costco. They don't always have it, so you have to grab it when you can. Your food looks delicious, too. And sitting at the Rhein and watching the river flow by while enjoying good company sounds wonderful. Hugs - Carola
