Hi Everybody!
Hope you all had a great weekend!
This bird was one of the pieces made in the Kaleidoscope taster sessions. The lesson was from Eulalia . My bird is a bit different, but I had fun making it. I hope David will be able to name it....
And this colourful piece was a colour excercise from Tam:
I am linking to Matilde's 'What makes me happy' challenge at AJJ.
This evening Elizabeth's TSFT will be starting, so I need some drinks to share:
On Saturday it was Heike's birthday, and she invited us to a wonderful restaurant by the Rhine in Düsseldorf. I chose grilled Salmon in a lovely sauce, really heavenly. But I didn't take any pics of the delicious, hot chocolate sauce over a huge portion of vanilla ice-cream which we ate for dessert. My drink was water:
From the window we could look down at the river and the sheep grazing, and ships, large and small, swimming by:
Some funnies:
Pictures taken from about 4:30 am on Friday. I love watching sunrise and
dawn:
Have a great day, take care,
And thanks a lot for coming by!
Happy Sunday. Luv your bluebird. Enjoyed the funnies😊

DeleteI am overwhelmed this morning to be greeted by a perfect rendition of the Great Crested Blue-Spotted Wagtail (Moticilla tupsensis), usually referred to affectionately (and very creatively) as Spotty. This species was recorded far back in the annals of ornithological history, but so seldom as to lead some authorities to consider it a product of schnapps-induced hallucination, a perfectly reasonable assumption given its profusion of spots and big googly eyes. Spotty is bound to become a favourite with everyone and I expect will soon be appearing on tee shirts, coasters, patches for backpacks and dangling from windows in the form of sun catchers. This is a monumental discovery, Valerie, and we are all in your debt for rendering it so well. I know that you claim to have created this bird as a result of a tutorial but this attempt to disguise your modesty does not fool us even for a moment. We will not be deceived. We know that you have been out and about, cruising on your rollator, exploring bush and bramble, hill, valley, slope and scree, pushing the boundaries of exploration, and discovering once again the bounty of Balconia-by-the-Rhine. Your salmon dinner was a fine celebration of such a landmark identification and to have the company of the renowned Professor Heike a feather (pardon the pun) in your cap. As for me, I shall bathe in the reflected glory of your accomplishment. That will be enough for me. Hugs and kisses - David
ReplyDeleteI feel duly honoured by your praise, it goes down like honey! As old as I am I still enjoy painting child like birds and animals, who needs to grow up! And thanks for giving my bird such a regal name, very fitting indeed! And when you write your next bird encyclopaedia I hope you will give it a mention....And I really have a winter hat with feathers on it! Have a great day! Hugs, Valerie
DeleteAnd how could I possibly omit, “Happy Birthday, Heike!”
ReplyDeleteThanks, I will pass on your wishes. Today we went out for a meal again, and sat outside and enjoyed the sunshine, very nice indeed!

DeleteFirst, happy birthday wishes to Heike. I hope she had a good birthday.
ReplyDeleteLove the bird. I thought I might try that exercise by Tam, since it didn't involve any actual drawing of things. They are also great entries for Matilde's theme at AJJ.
Loved the drink references and really loved seeing Heike with her mock beer. Your salmon looks wonderful;, too. Thanks for sharing Heike's birthday dinner with us for T this week, dear Valerie.
LOVED your sky shots. I wish I had that kind of a view where I could watch the sun rise or even set, but all you see at my house is trees front and back.
Thanks for the good wishes for Heike. Today we went out for another meal, yummy. We are now at the age where we need to celebrate as much as possible! The salmon was wonderful, always my fave. The view from my windows is the best part of my apartment! Have a great week, hugs.

DeleteMany happy returns of the day to Heika. All the celebratory food looks great. I’d like some ice cream with chocolate sauce right now! Before dinner.
ReplyDeleteI love the dawn and sunrise too, though it’s at a little later time here.
best, mae at maefood.blogspot.com
I am going shopping 🛒 today and need 🍨 ice cream!
DeleteThat is a great bird, and I love the colorful page. I bet they were both a lot of fun to make. And happy belated birthday to Heike. She looks very happy, and you meal looks yummy. I haven't had dinner yet, and I didn't really have anything much for lunch, so it's making me quite hungry-grin. Happy early T day to you, and happy new week also. hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteThanks Erika, they were both great fun to make. We had a happy time, and that's good. Hugs!
DeleteI love your birdie. Great photos and memes. Made me chuckle. Happy T day!
ReplyDeleteThanks Halle, good to hear from you again! Hugs!
DeleteHappy Birthday to Heike, tell her she looks younger and younger every pic you take of her.
ReplyDeletePretty bluebird, she's a Boho Beauty!
And a beautiful sunrise and grilled salmon plate, but just one potato? Well, it was big for those kind. Honey and I now split a baked potato on Sundays with our steaks. XOX
I had a big dish of potatoes, on the left next to my plate. And I ate them all, they were so good! Heike looks great, we are both determined to have a great time as long as we can. Baked potato and steak, yummy!
Deletethis blue bird looks so nice;)
ReplyDeleteThanks Kathy, hugs
ReplyDeleteLovely blue bird. Alles gute zum Geburtstag to Heike. The celebration meal looks wonderful. I don't blame you for no pictures of the ice cream and chocolate sauce. I'd be too busy eating the chocolate sauce to take pictures, too. Happy T Day
ReplyDeleteExactly, we all dug into our dessert and just enjoyed it! Happy To Day.
DeleteHappy Birthday Heike. Lovely bird. Lol the dog meme.
ReplyDeleteThanks Hena, I will pass on your good wishes to Heike, thanks! Have a great week, hugs!
DeleteYour bird turned out beautiful, Valerie. I had signed up for the tatser lessons, but then didn't do any of them because I had an idea for the bg canvas that was hanging around my place for several years. Maybe now it will get eventually finished.
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday to Heike. Love that Paulaner Weißbier - we currently have Paulaner Weißbier as well since it was sold at Costco. They don't always have it, so you have to grab it when you can. Your food looks delicious, too. And sitting at the Rhein and watching the river flow by while enjoying good company sounds wonderful. Hugs - Carola
Thanks Carola! Paulaner is my fave, and always available here. It's my fave, too! Have a great week, stay safe and happy! Hugs!
DeleteWhat a lovely dawn! I never usually see dawn as I don’t get up early. But these last two days I’ve had to be at the station at 5, so I can join the dawners.
ReplyDeleteI love your blue bird. Such a lovely colour.
Happy birthday Heike ( well, belated). The dinner looks really nice.
Happy T-Day,
Lisca
Thanks Lisca! Dawn and sunrise are really beautiful, and I have a great view from my window. I'm often on my balcony in my PJs taking pics! I will give Heike your good wishes! Hugs!
DeleteOh I love these, such happy and colourful pieces! I can't think of a better way to spend a birthday than with ice-cream. Take care and have a very happy week, Sue xx
ReplyDeleteOh yes, ice cream is very important on birthdays. And Sundays! And when it's dismal and raining! And when you feel down! And....... Hugs!
DeleteI am so in love with the blue bird and might just have to cook some salmon for dinner, you've set me off now as it looks scrummy. Happy creative week, Angela xxx
ReplyDeleteSalmon is always my favourite choice! Have a happy day! 💕
DeleteBeautiful photos Valerie, and some great funnies too, all accompanying a magnificent bird of the lesser spotted variety I think. I love how her blue plumage is so striking and the markings on her and her frond like bits are just perfect.
ReplyDeleteLovely photos of Heike's celebrations - and I would have loved that salmon too.
Hugs, Neet xx
Yes, lesser spotted indeed! I loved David's description! Salmon is always so delicious, I love it! Hugs!
DeleteWOW!! Awesome artwork! The bluebird piece is fantastic!
