Thursday/Friday post

Hi Everybody!

Hope your day is going better than mine. I had a nasty fall this morning (Wednesday), and now I'm hurting in places I never knew I had, but it will pass!

Today I have 2 pieces to share. The first is a journal page meant for AJJ, where Chris and Erika have taken over Eileen's theme of inspired by, as Eileen is sadly no longer with us.  This page was inspired by using up leftovers. The background was painted, textured and stamped, and was a part of a huge piece made some time back. The head was very fussily cut from a magazine, it was a lot of work, and I didn't get rid of all the white bits!
Anyway, it is as it is! I am also linking to Paint Party Friday.

And for Tag Tuesday , my theme of anything goes, I made a tag book, using up a set of tags printed onto paper. I glued them onto some cardboard tags I cut to fit them, with pictures front and back. I used some crackle varnish on the images, but it didn't crackle well, perhaps it's too old.

First some photos from the super moon. I watched it coming over the horizon behind the airport, so beautiful:

On my walks:

I love how flowers push their way through cracks in walls and paving stones:

My favourite cherry tree in the park of the Diakonie:

Have a great day, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!

  5. I hope you are doing better from your fall Valerie. It sounds horrible, and hope those sore spots don't stay sore very long. I am loving the wild lady with her blowing in the wind and also that beautiful tag book. Nice art. You got great photos of the moon too. It was pretty spectacular last night, but tonight we have rain so no second views. And aren't the flowering trees and shrubs so pretty when they bloom. Take it easy and don't over do it until you feel better. Hugs-Erika

Your journal page is so pretty! I love all the bright color behind the silhouette. I think leaving some of the white bits in her hair just add more interest. I love the words.

  14. How horrible to read you have fallen. I hate to tell you, but you probably feel worse today than you did yesterday.

Your journal page is fabulous. That was a really fussy cut bop that head. I was amazed at how well you followed the lines. Also, thanks for yet another great entry for Art Journal Journey honoring Eileen's theme.

That tag book is vintage beautiful. I love the little children you found. Really awesome, even if the crackle didn't work well.

Great photos today, too. I have several friends who called and told me about the Pink Moon. So glad you were able to capture it.

  15. Hope you recover fast and are ok, Valerie. Sorry that you fell!

Beautiful AJ page - I love the way her hair flows out and the inspiring words. The tag book is super well done and I but the crackle gave it an interesting texture even if it didn't crackle.

Lovely walk pictures. Hope you can still walk this week after that fall!

  16. Good morning Your Exquisite Valerieness: There was a song that was popular during the anti-war movement which had the line, "If you're going to San Francisco be sure to wear a flower in your hair." Well, this girl has substituted a feather and she is ready to go anywhere! And judging from your charming views of town she will not have to go far. It really is a delightful corner of the world that you call home. No doubt, it was glancing around you that diverted your attention and caused you to have this nasty fall. Just what you needed after all you have gone through of late. You will be sore for a while, but I hope that you will bounce back quickly (if we can do that at our age!). At least nothing is broken. And be sure to tie the laces on those funky shoes as you go stepping out around town! Take care, heal quickly, drink coffee and enjoy some hugs and kisses from your ardent friend in Canada! David

    1. I remember that song, which I still like, we all sang it during my college days. Happy memories of carefree times! When I fell over, the first thing I thought was that I might have damaged my camera....Luckily it was only my left side and knee, but it is very painful. Bounce back, eh!? I'll have to practise that! I'm staying home for a couple of days, so will have lots of time for painting, music, reading and perhaps some mundane things like sorting bills etc! Have a great day, take care, hugs to you both!

  21. Oh I'm so sorry to hear about your fall Valerie, it's a mystery where the aches and pains come from, but they certainly do! Your journal page is absolutely gorgeous, and I admire anyone who has the patience for fussy cutting. It's annoying when your crackle paste lets you down, I once kept some for 'special' projects and it set in the jar! I won't do that again ('till the next time lol) Take care and look after yourself xx
