Sunday / Monday Post - The eye and the tiger

Hi Everybody!

It's Sunday - enjoy!
It's a warm and humid day here. I just came back from my morning walk, and am looking forward to a nice cappuccino when I have finished my post. I still don't like the new blogger, it takes much longer to upload photos, and the stupid 'redirect' notice every time I click on a link is absolutely unnecessary. I wrote a feed back, but I'm not sure that anyone bothers reading these things! Whatever, like it or not we have to get used to it!

I have a hybrid piece to show today. I made it for my 'geometric shapes' challenge some time back, but never got round to showing it. The background was made with painted paper to which I glued pieces of fibrous material over which I daubed more colours. The squares are part of a photo of a patched up brick wall by the Rhine, and the circles were cut from an old journal page. The eye stamp was from Paper Artsy and the tiger from LaBlanche. It was all put together in Serif:

Yesterday and today we have had wonderful cloud formations sweeping across the sky:

I sat here and watched the world go by:

The archway leads to some houses for assisted living, and there is a beautiful courtyard there:

These clouds were from yesterday evening at almost 11 pm:

This tree was cut down after a storm three years ago. In autumn and winter it was covered in fungi, and has been home to many insects. Now it is slowly disintegrating and reverting to dust - Nature's way of using everything:

And the cormorant was on his usual seat, and every so often he dives into the water and comes up with a fish:

Looking south,  up river, which eventually leads to the source in Switzerland:

And this is looking north, or down the river, towards Holland and the sea:

Whichever way you're going today, may it be a good and safe one.

Have  a great day, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!

  1. It seems to be universally true that every time software is updated, becomes "new and improved", you wonder for whom! I think we have all accepted the new blogspot (because we have no choice) but I have yet to read a comment from a user who likes it, or who considers it superior to the old version. As for leaving feedback, I am convinced it is a waste of time. It seems to be lip service at best, but no one really pays attention to the comments. As always, Valerie, the photographs of your meanderings through the neighbourhood are quite splendid, enhanced in this post by views of interesting skies. Enjoy your cappuccino, relax, and have a great week ahead!

    1. Yes David, that's a good question - cui bono? Today I'm making myself 'useful' - clearing and tidying my sewing corner, yuck! But It's looking better already! Have a fun day! Hugs to you and M!

    2. Cleaning and tidying huh? And the day of scrap disposal approaches!!

    3. Yesterday I filled the last page of the 2 albums designated for the task. Everything else got sorted, bagged and disposed of. The scraps are now history!

  2. Hi Val, hope you are enjoying your weekend as much as I am. It's so good having a weekend just for me, I just can't believe it! Love your piece with the eye and the tiger, great fun there. The photos are beautiful. I don't think the skies here were that nice yesterday, but perhaps I didn't look! You see more than many others. Have a nice afternoon! Take care, and get enough rest! Hugs, Sarah

Deine Fotos sind wieder so hübsch und interessant ob vom Baumstamm oder der Himmel und dem Rhein.

  5. I like those circles with the 2 eyes looking at each other. The blue really stands out. I wonder what the cat is thinking about the human eye. And you did have a gorgeous sky. We're hot and humid and need rain; everything is burning out. Hope your new week is better than the old. Hugs-Erika

  9. For those of us who like lots of photos, I'm not anticipating this with much joy. I've tried to upload as many as possible as I get them and an idea forms, even if I haven't written the post, just to avoid this. Of course, I might have trouble moving them around when I do. We'll see...

I changed back to the old blogger after 24hrs. AND now it looks like the new blogger will be the default and the old legacy interface will still be optionally available. Well see, I hope so :)

  20. Yes I found uploading the photos were strange-before as you uploaded them they were all there-now it seems they disappear each time in that holding area or what ever it's called. must be a glitch.

  23. As soon as I saw the name of your post, I started humming "Eye of the tiger." This page is splendid and the way you opposed the two images was wonderful. I like the colors you chose, too.

Beautiful clouds and amazing photos of the dead tree. I am sticking with the Legacy Blogger. You think they are making Legacy obsolete in July? I sure hope not, because I can't get the new blogger to work at all.

  29. I've switched back to old blogger. The lack of page numbers for old posts is the killer for me. It makes the whole thing unmanageable for me. I also sent feedback, but others already had regarding that issue so...

  30. Well- hopefully they listen to the feedback! I know Google listens to feedback about its other products- so I hope they do for Blogger as well. I have stopped getting email notifications when people comment on my blog and it's driving me crazy. Not sure how to fix it. I have always gotten notifications in the past!

Your pictures are lovely- both your art and photos. Can't believe those clouds are from almost 11 pm. I thought we were lucky that it's light here until about 9-9:15pm.

    Stay safe!
