2nd on the 2nd

Hi Everybody!

On the 2nd of the 2nd Elizabeth invites us to re-show pieces from past blogs. Today I have chosen 3 blog spreads in an A4 journal. The first 2 are from 2012, the third from 2013. Frida Kahlo is a painter I much admire for her work and perhaps above all for her indomitable spirit and courage in adversity:

The second one is a literary piece from 'The little Prince' by
Antoine de Saint- Exupéry.
I also loved 'Wind, sand and Stars' and 'Night Flight'. We read the books at school in French, many years ago, but unforgotten:

And I made this one because I like the quote:

The little girl is a stamp:

And the photos were taken on my walks in June 2013:

The amphibian protection area is just round the corner, on the other side of the stream:

The rusty gates lead to the park of the Diakonie:

One of the little lakes:

Have a great day, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!

I love the pictures with the rusty gate ... very nice details! Today I "dance" on my blog .... although today I feel very miserable and can hardly sit on the chair!

  3. These are all three beautiful entries, Valerie. I've not seen any of these before, so they are all a first look for me. That little girl is unbelievable. I couldn't believe that was a stamp. Absolutely stunning. And those rusty gates and the finials at the top had me swooning. Thanks so very much for sharing your incredible art and your wonderful photos as this second look on the 2nd.

  4. I just read your comment, Valerie and your blog post linked properly. Not sure why you thought you were having a problem, though.

    1. When I first went on your blog Inlinkz kept telling me that the service was not available. I went back again, and it worked - I'm just clever!

    2. It may have been because it was supposed to go live at midnight my time, but I may have gotten the time wrong at Inlinkz.

    3. That could be a logical reason!

  7. Good morning Valerie: Your artwork, as always, is varied, eclectic, interesting and well finished. The references you cite speak to a childhood filled with learning and this stream of erudition has continued throughout your life. Great images from another fine walk and I am happy to note that amphibians are cared for and protected, at least in one little corner of Germany. Those thistles will provide highly nutritious seeds for Goldfinches a little later in the year. From Waterloo to Balconia-by-the-Rhine, best wishes for a great week ahead. David

    1. Hi David, it always cheers me to see you visiting my blog, thanks! We have 3 little nature protection places near here, little lakes and swamps which are closed for visitors to give the wildlife a chance. I will be sure to watch for goldfinches ater in the year! Balconia-by-the-Rhine sends hugs to far off Waterloo!

  10. Always nice to dip into the past. I read The Little Prince in French, also, when I studied French in college. It wasn't difficult to read.
