T sTands for Tags and more

Hi Everybody!

We have been blessed with wonderful spring weather these past days, so I have been out and about as much as possible, soaking up some sun and warmth. Our little town was full of sun-seekers yesterday, walking by the Rhine or sitting outside to drink their coffee or whatever.  It won't last forever, but I think we are all trying to make the best of it.

For Tag Tuesday I made another tag, using some scraps of paper, card, a TH ballerina and some vintage German scrap figures. I sewed it all together. There is still a week to join our challenge:

I am also linking to Simon Monday Challenge, typography

Tuesday is also Elizabeth's T stands for Tuesday, so here a big welcome to all of the ladies of the T gang. On Saturday I visited my friend N, who lives on the opposite side of the Rhine, and after walking along the river we took the tram into the centre of Düsseldorf and visited Cafe Byzantio, a Greek cafe with wonderful cake and coffee. We sampled a good variety of chocolate cakes and washed it down with delicious cappuccino. We shared each of the pieces, so didn't eat too much:

This one was my fave:

It was very crowded around the glass cases with the cakes, but by using my elbows I managed to get some photos:

I bought myself some daffodils for my vase, and a neighbour bought me the tulips. The vase they are in is from the 1930s with an abstract tulip design, blown in the glass, not painted, and I love it as it belonged to my great aunt:

When I visited N I walked from the tram station in town past Hofgarten park and across the bridge. The geese were evidently enjoying the midday sun, too. This  one was standing by the railing watching the passers by:

A second one was feeding:

And these ones were enjoying a sunny snooze:

This time there were no wild winds trying to blow me off the bridge.
The concert hall, which used to be a planetarium:

A view of the Altstadt taken when we took our walk along the other side of the river:

  3. A wonderful tag Valerie with the red. spotty toadstool and the beautiful smiles on the children's faces.

Happy T Day and I am sure the drink and food you had at the wonderful eatery made you both very happy. All the wonderful things in the cabinets looked delicious.

So good to see your amazing vase and the beautiful Spring flowers. We have a few spring flowers out now in our garden and it so lovely to see them shining in the sun.

Well fed geese you have along your walk. I expect people give them food as they walk by.

Hope you are feeling well today

    Love Chrissie xx

  4. Very nice tag today-the ballerina on the mushroom is cute. And you certainly celebrated the nice weather. That Greek place looks YUMMY!, and I would take some cake even if it is only 6 in the morning here. Hope it is a great T day. We are having snow again this morning-the weekend was sunny but cold and this week is look sketchy several days. No spring for at least another week. Happy new week. Hugs-Erika

  5. Wow, great mix of artwork and photographs. The desserts looked delicious. I liked your comment about using your elbows, to be able to get photos of the cases. Was that a Black Swan in the background at the park? The architecture photos were fantastic, especially the former planetarium. Happy T-Day!

  8. A pretty tag. I like the little ballerina. She looks like she's pretending to be a fairy on the toadstool. What a wonderful outing you took us on. So many cakes and pastries at the cafe, it would be hard to choose just one. Your auntie's vase is so pretty and I just love your cobalt blue vases. Your sunny pictures of the park is so welcome today as it's snowing outside my window. The people watching goose really made me smile. Happy T Day and enjoy your day.

  17. Lovely tag, Valerie. Sachertorte is one of my favorites too, but I haven't had it for years - probably since we left Wisconsin where German cuisine is very popular. I love the 1st photo of the quizzical goose (grin). As always, beautiful photos!

    Happy T-day! Eileen xx

  20. Well, I took your advice and saw a doctor. I hope to be well very soon. Your tag is beautiful. I've been toying wit the idea of using one of those ballerinas. She looks good on the mushroom.

I was going to ask you about the black swan, then saw your comment to Anne. They are SO rare here and only appear in zoos. Looks like you had a wonderful walk. Here it is icy and windy and bitterly cold. Those lovely flowers made me almost believe in spring. I agree that vase is fabulous, too.

I must be feeling better, because your chocolate cakes made me very hungry. They look wonderful and decadent. And of course, I would love to have a nice cappuccino with you. Thanks for sharing your tag, your flowers, your visit along the river, and your cappuccino and cakes with us for T this Tuesday.

The concerthall is beautiful. I just love that intricate brickwork, and the copper? roof.
How lovely to have flowers in the house. I really miss that. As a Dutch person, I would always have flowers in the house. Your vase is stunning. The love of arty glass must run in the family.
Your tag is great too. I love those old fashioned images.

There have been times, this past week, that I have been so cold I wished I could have tucked my nose under my wing, like the geese....but the sun is shinning today.

  30. Gorgeous desserts! They look and are plated like the ones we had on the ship. The geese photos are nice, but we do not like the Canadian geese we get here as they leave tons of droppings everywhere and especially on the golf course! Happy T Day!

  31. Your tag is brilliant Valerie, those TH dolls are such fun and it's amazing how they go with everything. What a fabulous cafe, though if it was a Greek one it would be baclava for me everytime! The sunshine seems to have cheered everyone up, I've never seen a goose sunbathe before lol. Take care, Sue x
