Hi Everybody!
Time is flying and it's time for a new post. It's still very hot here, no sign of a break in the weather yet.
I have a canvas (16" x 19") to share that I started some time back, and managed to finish last week. I used structure paste to add texture. The sunflowers were made using pastes through a stencil and then painted in gold metallic paints. The centres were filled with multi-coloured gilding flakes. The flowers on the right are some I picked ready dried from the meadows by the Rhine. The leaves were cut from a sheet of paper, painted with metallics, and partly embossed with Frantage to give more texture. I also used some rusting powder and more gilding flakes to add some interest to the background. In real life it is a little darker, the metallic paints make it hard to photograph:
I am linking to Paint Party Friday, Simon Monday Challenge ( add some sparkle) and That's Crafty, close to nature.
The photos were taken on my early morning walks this week:
Have a great day, take care,
and thanks a lot for coming by!

Your photos are gorgeous BUT your fabulous work of art with the gliding flakes, wow, outstanding. Would have loved to be with you when you made this...need a lesson or two...hugs.xx
ReplyDeleteYour sunflower canvas is wonderful, so rich and full of summer. Love all the golden accents, just beautiful. Great photos, too. Have a great day, keep cool! Hugs, Sarah
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous mixed media piece Valerie, just looking at all those textures and art marks makes me so happy to see. Those little extras really make it a statement piece. Thanks for sharing over at That's Crafty.
ReplyDeleteAlways delightful to take a stroll through your captured moments..
Have a super day..Hugs Tracey x
Beautiful sunflowers. The colors and textures are just delicious. Looks like another lovely day down by the river. Hay bailing is happening here, too. A cold front brought strong thunderstorms and heavy rains that broke the heat and humidity for a few days. Hope you get some relief from the heat, too.
ReplyDeleteSo do I, but there's no relief in sight!
DeleteWow. I not only think the metallic paint works so well but the texture background also adds so much wow to this piece. Beautiful work Valerie. Sorry to hear you still have the heat but your photos look beautiful. Hope it cools off soon! Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteYour canvas is so beautiful, gorgeous texture you created. Lovely photos from your walk.
ReplyDeleteOh wow, I love today's project, the colours and textures are amazing!!!
ReplyDeleteWe are off to France next week, via Germany where we will be for a few days, - hope the weather will have cooled down a little by then, - we are not used to it....
It's expected to be even hotter next week!
DeleteI love this piece. It's wondrous. My grandfather grew sunflowers so they always bring back fond memories.

I think we are all hoping for cooler weather.

Gorgeous sunflowers and amazing textures, love the addition of the dried flowers. Lovely photos too, we are still having the very hot weather and the fields around us are looking brown and dried up.
ReplyDeleteJoan
Same here and it's getting hotter....
DeleteLovely canvas art. I especially like the dried flowers that look like they are growing up the side of a tree trunk. hugs, Teresa
ReplyDeleteHi Valerie wow and double wow your canvas is stunning and i love the colours and textures you have used, well done my friend xx

DeleteI think my new mantra is I'm habitually late to the party. I am sorry I've not been by sooner. This canvas is unbelievable. It is incredibly beautiful, and, as someone who also has trouble getting shimmer to show up in my photos, I can still appreciate the beauty of this gorgeous canvas.
ReplyDeleteI loved the bird on the pole and red "thingy." Really awesome.
